Devean, it's not your health that's at issue. You're just not very good even when healthy.
AUBURN HILLS, Mich. -- Devean George, injured entering the season and mostly buried on the Mavericks bench since, said he's open to a trade in order to jump-start his disappointing season.
George said before Sunday's game against the Detroit Pistons that, if his role remains limited, he would like the chance to play elsewhere in hopes of increasing his stock as an unrestricted free agent after the season.
"I have to play," he said. "I've had my share of injuries, and my thing is I have to be out on the floor. I have to show that I'm healthy.
"In reality, I don't have a job. You want to look at the team first, but, obviously, I would be lying to you if I wasn't thinking about my future as well."
George, a nine-year veteran, missed practice Saturday because of food poisoning. He said he was healthy Sunday, but coach Avery Johnson, even without Jerry Stackhouse and Devin Harris available, didn't use George until the game was lost with 3:32 left.
With Stackhouse, Eddie Jones and Trenton Hassell, whose role has increased significantly the past few weeks, the Mavs are loaded with swingmen and minutes are hard to come by.
In the off-season, the 6-foot-8 George signed a one-year, $2.4 million deal to return to the Mavs for a second season. The Mavs believed he could be a shut-down defender and a reliable 3-point shooter. He made 35.3 percent last season.
"I'm not in my 15th year; I still have my legs," George said. "I still have things I can bring to the team, and I don't want to let it go to waste."
A knee injury in the second half of last season slowed what had been a solid season.
This season, George was sidelined until Dec. 6 because of a stress reaction in his left foot. In 21 games, he has averaged 2.6 points and 2.3 rebounds in 10.3 minutes. He has tried only 11 3-pointers all season.
"The reality is we have a lot of similar players, and there might be a win-win for both me and the team," George said of a possible trade. "They might get another piece that can diversify the team a little more, but who knows?"

I've always disliked Devean George, i dont really know why...just comes off as smug i guess.
That's too bad that DG couldn't find his way in Dallas. I though he was their championship piece...oh well.
I have this sinking feeling that Devean George will end up in San Antonio next season.
trade him to memphis and see how much he talks then.
Ugh...God I hope not.
Maybe they send him to Jersey if the Kidd deal goes through.
He's not so good without Shaq feeding him open jumpers.
Lets trade his ass for a "dominant big man"
Maybe he should stop sucking and break the rotation if he wants time.
We should sign Devean George and then trade him straight up to the Griz for Miller.
trade the little . package him up for Kidd, instead of Stack. Im sure they like his expiring contract and they're gonna release stackhouse anyway.
