Bob 'throws in the chair'....lol !!!

He's what, 67 ? He's got a last run in him. I'd be frustrated too if I coached at TT. You can't get the recruits.

I am sure this has something to do with money. He probably wanted a big raise to off set his dwindling enthusiasm for coaching ala Bill Parcells who he is good friends with. Can't blame him, he has been at this for a long time and did wonders for the TT program.

I think it has to deal more with how much of a hole Lubbuck the town is, and how much of a hole Texas Tech the program is (the one that couldn't even come close to sell out his 900th win game that also came against their most hated rival)

Have you ever been to Lubbock? I'm surprised he lasted this long without choking someone.

Great career, and the guy did what he loved and did it his way telling anyone who didn't like it to go themselves. How many people actually get so successful that they can tell everyone to off and still be successful?

The ESPN media spin so far is that with the change in administration, he wanted to secure his son's job. Not sure how it guarantees anything for his son.

As a coach/teacher of the game, only John Wooden stands taller.

Love him or hate him, he was a brilliant coach. He must be doing something right, it seems that every former player of his that you talk to is still willing to run through a wall for the man. He took Tech to the Sweet 16, very tough to do in Lubbock.

If you could survive 4 years of the General, there's not much that life after basketball could've thrown at you that you wouldn't be able to handle.

I'd have played for him in a heartbeat.

I think this was a way for him to quit and hand the reigns over to his son. Do you think if Bob would have waited till after the season to quit, they would have gone after someone else to coach??

At least he handed the reins over to Pat in a classier way than Eddie Sutton handed them to Sean.
