Jane Austen Book Club & Tim Duncan

I bought Jane Austen Book Club (DVD) and just finished watching it. It was okay, a good chick flick.



The best part though wasn't in the movie, it was in the deleted scenes. One in particular: "Dean goes off on Tim Duncan"
Marc Blucas is Dean, he also used to play with TD in college and they're good friends.

His character in the scene is making a comment to his wife about going to the playoffs with some clients and says that if it's the Spurs it will be over in 4 games. This is the mostly censored version:
"Unless they get overconfident then maybe it will go 5 but it ain't gonna go 7. Unless Tim Duncan gets hit by an asteroid. Or they actually figure out how to start playing the guy. He's 7 feet tall but he just wants to be a guard. 'Oh, let me dribble between my legs and shoot some jump shots.' If he actually does get on the block, he's completely abandoned his jump hook, which is like the greatest in the game. But no, he wants to turn over his right shoulder and shoot some floater across the lane, which like clanks off the rim. And don't even get me started on defense. Honey, the guy can't stop a parked car. He goes down on the block, you just bury his tropical a** under the basket then turn around and dunk it, it's not like he's going to foul you. At his age, he can't try to block the shot so when he does foul you, it's going to some little b****-a** foul, and you're gonna go to the line and you're gonna put his a** on the bench. Camaro-driving, second-place finishing mother-f*****."

There's even more to this. Apparently, Blucas was sitting right next to TD at a special screening of the movie, and they left that scene in. Blucas said he could feel Duncan staring at him as the monologue went on.
