Jim Zorn To Be The Next Head Coach

Just got off the phone with sources with knowledge of the situation. Zorn will be the next head coach. He spent a lot of time with Vinny Cerrato and Dan Snyder the past two days, team sources said, and the brass - Cerrato in particular - "fell in love with him." The team flew a plane to pick up his family this weekend. A press conference could come by 3 pm Sunday

Zorn was the Seattle QB coach the last 6 years and spent about two weeks as the Redskins Offensive Coordinator, before this latest promotion.

Twice in recent days the Redskins contacted Jim Fassel to tell him they were about to move forward, but never reached the contract stage, league sources said, which int he end turned out to be a stall tactic. Steve Mariucci and Ron Meeks, the other finalists, had not been contacted as this afternoon.

One league source said Zorn would get a five-year deal.

    I feel sick.

Is there any doubt that Synder and Cerrato are the two biggest bozos in the NFL?

Good luck to Zorn, he's going to need it.

On the surface the hire looks horrible considering the guy has no head coaching experience...but at the same time I applaud the Redskins in the sense that I'm rather tired of all the same retreads in the NFL coaching ranks.

We'll never get the next Lombardi or Knoll by rehiring the same old coaches and not looking deeper.

Cerrato is a bozo. Snyder's biggest mistakes since 2001 are that he hasn't fired Cerrato.

That said, Zorn is intriguing. He's not the homerun hire, but he's not a low ceiling guy either. It'll be interesting to watch this develop.

there's really no point in criticizing or celebrating this hire yet, no telling what he'll do.

I thought that you guys would surely hire Fassel. Hopefully Zorn will pan out.

A bit of a surprise but I think Zorn will do well.

As long as Snyder gives him the same respect he gave Gibbs.

True and that is a big question mark.

I don't know much about Zorn to have an opinion on him one way or another.

But, as a Cowboy fan, I hope he sucks ass.
