Rome is a Laker homer who got butt hurt.

Rome burns Pop.......as much as I don't care for Rome too much, he has a point, but kind of takes it too far.
Enjoy and if posted already....my apologies.
Rome is a Laker homer who got butt hurt.
The little garden gnome can kiss off.
Still, scathing commentary from Jim....the only thing is that it's Jim's job to comment and be a prick....Pop just is.
Congrats Lakers for winning your 45th consecutive paper championship.![]()
Basically a punk antagonist who hides under his desk whenever called to any accountability.
Always trying to stir up crap, heavy innuendo but always passive aggressive enough to keep a weasle out opening.
I liked his show in the middle years. Beggining years he was a screaming lunatic. Nows he's Corporate Jimmy pushing Carls Jr burgers and kissing ass.
Middle years were pretty good for a while.
Rome failed to address the point: whether or not there should be a commission to review trades with the power to veto bull ones and investigate allegations of collusion.
Even if Pop is only pissed because this trade negatively impacts the Spurs (which is certainly possible), who gives a ? Pop's motive is not the point, it's just a diversion. Pop's statement is the point, and Rome's only comment on it is that the NBA "isn't fantasy basketball," which is weak as .
This isn't a burn at all, this is more re ed shock journalism.
Stern wouldn't allow the trade to be nullified.
Stern is hoping against hope that now he can have an LA - Boston Finals.
Enough of this San Antonio - Cleveland small market .
Now if only he can fix it so it is sure to happen.
Mmmmkay... Lots of assumptions being made in that little rant. In fact, there's no basis for any of that rant without the completely fabricated motive Rome assigned to Pop's comments. Who is Jim Rome to say Pop wouldn't have commented if the Grizzlies had traded Gasol to the Knicks for nothing?
Can't we just as easily assume that Jim Rome wouldn't have devoted two minutes of his abortion of a show to Pop's comments if the Lakers weren't the beneficiaries of the deal?
Talk about overblown. Who still watches this tool anyway? How does he still have a TV show?
If Boston and LA make the finals this year; it will be unprecedented.
Neither was any type of contender last year, and only one even made the playoffs (and was escorted out unceremoniously in the first round).
The history of the NBA playoffs has been one of paying your dues until you get over the mountain (the major exception being Miami recently; but they at least played an opponent that had been scaling the mountain for a whiile). All of a sudden, in a single year, two teams with GM's that had close ties with Boston and LA respectively, trade their franchise power forwards to Boston and LA respectively.
So, if I understand this correctly, the single BEST thing that could happen for the NBA has miraculously happened: Boston and LA as favorites (LA debatable), despite the fact that just a few short months ago LA was in disarray, with its own franchise player DEMANDING a trade - a relationship so broken it COULD NEVER be repaired!!!!
Now this.
I guess dreams CAN come true. More often than not, however, they are manufactured.
McHale, West, Boston, LA What a CRAZY coincidence.
I've totally stopped listening to him since all he talks about is hot button sports issues and the rest of the time its lakersdodgerslakersdodgerslakersdodgers
Get ready for Kidd to LA AND Cassell to Boston.
Don't need to rig games if the right players keep ending up in the right places.
Where was Pop's comment on how ty a deal was when Shaq left the lakers. I didn't see him all in arms over that trade.
I'm surprised that we didn't get the #1 pick the year we were in the lottery....or when we traded Caron Butler we didnt' get Arenas, Brown and jameson. These conspiracy theories make me laugh.
oh nevermind. Just read again. Still Heat gave up a lot of good solid players in that trade.
I never said it was a conspiracy theory. Go read my post. I just state facts. The facts, to you I can only guess, sound conspiratorial. You kind of owned yourself there.
C'mon, Rome's show is in L.A. He's in his element. Tired of people referring to the Champs in little San Antonio and nothing from his own backyard. What you'd expect? He gave the Spurs their props but now he wants to move on. Only way to piss all of them off is to see the Spurs in the Finals.
I'm still certain that Pop was being a smartass with the "trade committee" idea and that he's gotten a bunch of people worked up over something that he was never at all serious about.
His criticisms of the trade, from the Grizzlies' standpoint, are valid.
Wow. Rome.
"Yes You're Dynasty is over."
Bingo.
Spurminators post double bingo.
he said aging unathletic Spurs are looking up at the Lakers and our dynasty is over.
that's it, let's call it a season and hand the trophy to the lakers. since according to rome there is no reason to play the rest of the season or the playoffs.
all hail the mighty lakers!![]()
Had the Grizzlies traded Gasol to the Spurs for spare parts and Phil Jackson made a similar comment (completely plausible, given Phillip's history) I doubt that Rome would be cracking on him.
LA got two All Stars in that deal.
Memphis got Kwame Brown in theirs.
Not all bad trades are equal.
Well of course he wouldn't.
Jackson would be making HIS statement from the chairman's seat of the newly formed "NBA Playoff Trade Approval Committee".
Exactly...
I was thinking what would Phils reaction be if the Spurs somehow aquired Lebron James for brent Barry, Richardson and a few late round draft picks.... then what would Rome say about that comment.
Not only would be praise jackson for "keeping it real" he would demad that the league agree with Jackson and lead that comittee.
