I only caught the last bit, but enough to be flabbergasted. I thought Michael Moore couldn't stun me anymore, but he proved me wrong again.

I caught Moore making the case to Katie to get a celebrity to run on the democratic ticket. Oprah or Tom Hanks are his two ideal choices. Does Michael not see the absurdity of seeking out celebrities for office, for the sake of celebrity? I mean, not that Tom or Oprah couldn't make noble contributions, but this is an utterly faulty strategy. Let's go hunt us a big name celebrity to run up against the Republicans. Then he totally bashed Kerry, he asked the audience, 'quick, name me something that Kerry stood for during the elections" waited .5 seconds and said, 'See, noone can do it, that's why we need someone like Arnold' or something like that.

Then they talk about his new movie targeting the pharm companies. Katie asks Michael if he can acknowledge the good that pharm companies have done against disease, or does he view them as pure evil and a real enemy of the people. He said they are pure evil, then states that health care is a human right and that pharm companies should not be in the business of making profits. Now, I don't know about you, but this sent me reeling. I was flat out knocked over by this comment, and judging by Katie's reaction, so was she. He goes on to point out Eli Lilly had prior knowledge that Prozac made you 12 times likely to commit suicide. Fine. That's bad and should be dealt with appropriately. But Michael is out of his mind if he thinks that pharm companies don't have a right to a profit no more than anyone else in any other field. Just proposterous.

I think to not acknowledge the extensive volumes of good the pharm companies have done only illustrates his anti-capitalist motives. I have no other explanation for it.

Dems better do something about Moore. He's acting as an indirect party leader and doing some real damage.

We need to hunt a celebrity, and pharm companies are "pure evil". Moore just keeping it real.

Don't get me wrong though, I think he is an enormous unwitting ally to the right. I truly believe he scares more people to the right than pulls people to the left.

Maxine Waters "dedicated" her objection to the election results to "Michael Moore and his movie Farenheit 9/11"...

You don't think that's a little scary? One of the most dishonest "do entary" films in history, receiving "dedications" on the senate floor?

Moore is poisoning the climate with his trinket movies, books, and interviews. I just can't take him lightly when wrongheaded SENATORS are propping him up as hero...

    Unbelievable.

I hope Michael Moore makes a buttload of movies and that he continues to pretend (and profess) to represent the "mainstream" Democratic Party. Nothing would do more to destroy the Democratic Party.

Yeah, but he's proving to be an asset to those of us wanting the Demoncratic Party to implode...I say, let him stick around.

Which reminds me of that old joke, "When Michael Moore sits around the hou..." oh, nevermind.

    Dear Friends,

Something historic happened yesterday. For the first time since 1877 a member of the House and a member of the Senate stood up together to object to the outcome of a presidential election.

This is the first step on a necessary road toward making sure that everyone is allowed to vote and that every vote is counted (something we did not see in 2000 or 2004) so the next time around ALL of us can be confident, when the election results come in, that they reflect the will of the people, not the whim of mechanical error and human obstruction.

Unlike 2000, when the black members of Congress were told to sit down and shut up, this time a senator had the courage to stand with them, as the law requires, to force Congress to go back to their separate chambers to discuss and debate the issues surrounding the vote count. Senator Barbara Boxer rose to the occasion and stood with Ohio Representative Stephanie Tubbs Jones and 29 other Representatives "to cast the light of truth on a flawed system which must be fixed now." The ensuing debate, at times, became a debate over me and all of you and the fact that we would dare make the attempt to protect our democracy.

I was blown away when Representative Maxine Waters took to the floor and said, "Mr. Speaker and members, I dedicate my objection to Ohio's electoral votes to Mr. Michael Moore, the producer of the do entary '9/11' and I thank him for educating the world on the threats to our democracy and the proceedings of this house on the acceptance of the electoral college votes for the 2000 presidential election."

I am honored to the point of embarrassment because it is Maxine Waters who deserves thanks for defending our most basic right, not once, but twice.

Coming out of the gates like this in the very first week of session sent a strong message that we are not going to be pushed around. If the Republicans think the next four years are going to be a cakewalk, they've got another thing coming. With Michigan Representative John Conyers leading the charge, we showed them something not seen in over 120 years. And we're just getting started!

Congratulations to the tens of thousands of you who called, faxed, and e-mailed Barbara Boxer and other senators. You have shown the world, with the strength of your convictions, that the movement toward a truly representative democracy will not be stopped in its tracks. Yesterday's actions will be marked by history books as a turning point for the electoral process and for a Democratic Party that has for too long sat back and taken it on the chin.

Your voices have echoed all the way up to the hallowed halls of Congress and for that, you deserve thanks more than anyone.

    Yours,

    Michael Moore
