Maybe we can get Charlie Ward back.![]()
I was thinking this over in the shower, where all my great ideas come from. But I got to thinking...the Rockets are desperately wanting a point guard. What do you think the Rockets would give the Spurs for Beno? Conversely, what would you be willing to take for Beno?
Maybe we can get Charlie Ward back.![]()
Just stick to rubbing one out.

If we traded Beno, we'd be desperate for a backup, and the Rockets don't have anyone I'd want for my backup.
The Rockets have Yao, TMac, and a bunch of crap. Short of the first two I'd rather have Beno and Houston's not cashing in one of their stars for our backup PG.
I agree that the Rox have little that we would want that they would trade to us, but sometime in the next few years the Spurs need to think about moving Beno. They simply will not pay a backup what he could get on the open market, and they could either get value or offload a bad contract.
HEY!! WTF??![]()

Beno's not going anywhere![]()
Is that clear?![]()
Dude, I love his game, but in 3+ years, he's going to walk away for nothing. Not advocating a trade NOW, but somewhere down the line, they could get a young player, a draft pick, or move a contract instead of seeing him just walk away. The Spurs simply will NOT pay two PGs.
Duff, First off..Who the told you that it was a great idea?!
1. Unless it involves T-Mac or Yao, who else do the Rockets have that would be a better talent than Beno?
2. Trades within the division seldom happen for obvious reasons.
3. Ideas are good. Perhaps your next shower will provide another idea.
4. We like Beno, so hit the showers.![]()
Link? The Spurs simply will NOT pay two PGs.
How do know that if Beno approaches Stocken like play the Spurs wont trade Tony and sign Beno for something less than what Tony will make?
Either way its not a bad problem to have.
Provide your own link to any E-N articles about the wrangling that finally had to involve Tim Duncan to get a deal done for ONE PG. Recall Speedy Claxton taking a walk for nothing.Link?
Beno and Rasho for Yao!![]()
We let Speedy walk because we were waiting around for Jack.
We've spent the past three years overestimating the amount at which Spurs will re-up.
The simple fact that Pop is actively seeking opportunities to play Beno with Parker should indicate that the plans might go beyond 3-4 years.
Why would we want to trade Beno, that would be a re ed move.
Beno is our PG if tony get's hurt. He's gonna be good.
"We let Speedy walk because we were waiting around for Jack."
huh? Speedy walked by himself to START somewhere else (only to see NVE signed also), seeing Tony was annointed as Spurs starter as far as the eye could see.
Simiarly, I expect RC will get trade/$$$ waved in his face in a year or two for Beno to start elsewhere. And nobody can fault Beno for wanting to start in NBA.

This is stupid....
Duff, maybe you should play some old McCartney or Beatles songs backwards and see if you can hear any better trade ideas.![]()
Nope. It was in the E-N last year.huh? Speedy walked by himself to START somewhere else
You know its good to be a Spurs fan when the biggest forum controversy of the day is whether we will be able to re-sign our backup point guard in 2008.
I agree with Chump: where's the rule that says you can't have a future Tony-Beno backcourt?
You would probably need to upgrade the front-line with another first-class low-post threat to get away with it, but it's not an impossible idea.
, we were talking about a Tony-JKidd backcourt two years ago.
I want T-MAC and YAO. Keep your ideas and thinking in the shower.![]()
