How it helps the Spurs?
Bibby should improve Atlanta's hopes of making the playoffs, meaning Phoenix won't be getting a lottery pick this year!
It also hopefully takes away yet another difficult team in the west. We did lose to them last time I looked.
Or are people going to start demanding a Spurs trade now that Sacramento have added Anthony Johnson and assembled another powerhouse in the West, just as they did with the Gasol/Lakers or Shaq/Suns deals!
We didn't lose to them because of Bibby...we lost to them because of Beno...Bibby was hurt and on the IR when we lost to them.
I personally think Bibby sucks...never has one player been so overhyped because of one playoff series, which he lost.
This guy plays no D at all...I remember Parker hanging 19 points on him in a quarter at the age of 20. And he's never been anything close to clutch except for that one series VS LA.
Beno seemed to post similar if not better numbers to Bibby while he was out, which does say something
It would be nice if Sacramento would cut someone who would actually help the Spurs since signing Beno actually allowed them the flexibility, talent-wise at the point, to trade Bibby.
I also just noticed that the Kings have waived Justin Williams to make the deal possible. This is definately something worth looking at!
I know his name has been discussed in trade scenarios and he could turn out to be a steal.

Jones and Williams are more than worth a look by spurs...however, I think that (also if they're not part of the pre-arranged deal), if Atlanta's ownership is a bit intelligent, they're gonna take them immediately out of waivers to replace the 4 players gone to sactawn...they're perfect for Atlanta!!!

2006-07 season: The rail-thin undrafted rookie from Wyoming played 26 games for the Kings near the end of the season, and was shockingly good. I'm not sure it was a total fluke either, as he had played fairly well in 12 D-League games with Dakota before joining Sacramento.
Though 6-10 and 225 pounds, he stood out for his ability to rebound and block shots. Williams' rebound rate of 20.2 would rank among the very best in the league if he kept it up over a full season. And while his rate of blocks wasn't terribly high in the NBA, he sent back over three shots a game in the D-League, indicating he might be capable of much more.
Scouting report: Williams hopes to follow in the footsteps of another Wyoming product, Theo Ratliff, as a slender, high-energy center who protects the rim on defense and stays out of the way on offense. Williams shot 61.4 percent last season but it came almost entirely on dunks and layups, and his relatively high scoring rate from last season is likely a fluke.
Williams makes up for his thin build with tremendous activity, which is why he was able to score and rebound so much despite being overmatched physically. The activity also gets him to the line quite a bit, but that might not be a good thing -- he's a terrible foul shooter who went a combined 50-for-110 between his NBA and NBDL stops.
Defensively, the increasing use of zone defenses could help Williams quite a bit. He can't possibly survive the banging against some of the league's bigger centers, so his ability to make plays off the ball has to be his ticket.
2007-08 outlook: Williams signed the Kings' qualifying offer and provides another contender in a suddenly crowded frontcourt that also includes Brad Miller, Spencer Hawes, Mikki Moore, Shareef Abdur-Rahim and Kenny Thomas. If a trade doesn't thin things out, he's the easiest one to shift into 12th man duty. However, the rebuilding Kings owe it to themselves to ascertain what they have in Williams, and I suspect he'll sneak into the rotation once it becomes apparent the playoffs aren't a realistic proposition.

He has great potential and put up the D-League stats that Ian is dreaming of.
Perhaps Austin can sign him for us? But I imagine he'll have plenty of interest around the league.
Justin Williams could be an interesting prospect but I don't think Spurs will get after him.
First, Spurs still have 2 young bigmen with Splitter and Mahinmi.
Second, he has had some off court troubles this year.
