If we have to get Wally to get Thomas from Seattle.

    Give to get.

I remember many of us snapped when we signed Brent Barry, because his contract was somewhat expensive and long for a veteran swingman.

    Same thing with Szerbiack.

His contract is tough to stomach, but you could see the Spurs front office taking a shine to him the same way they dug Barry.

I'm just saying... don't jump if Szerbiack comes in a deal for Thomas.

I don't recall anyone "snapping" when the Spurs signed Barry.

    Plus Szczerbiak's salary is 3x Barry's.

If the Spurs wanted Szczerbiak, they could acquire him for:

    Barry
    Elson
    Bonner

That would allow the Sonics to pare down a significant amount of payroll next season. Of course, if they keep Szczerbiak then they will have his huge ass expiring contract to use next year to perhaps land someone of value. For the Spurs, at some point they will have to replace Barry and/or Finley. Still, irrespective of cap concerns, does it make sense to pay Wally Szczerbiak thirteen million dollars to be a bench player?

I will be VERY surprised if the Spurs execute a $20 million trade.

I don't think the Spurs would trade for Wally without Thomas.

I don't think they should trade for Wally and Thomas.

I would hope they could just trade for Thomas.

But I would not be surprised.

Seattle might want to include Wally in a trade involving Thomas, but I doubt the Spurs take that on. Wally makes way too much. We're talking $13 million.

Pop's trade committee would veto this as incomprehensible.

Hey, at least Ghost has heard of Szczerbiak before, so obviously that would make this a great trade.

ElNon your vain attempt at humor makes absolutely no sense in this context. Lebron is a franchise player and Gooden would actually be a nice throw in, dope.

Why would Seattle just hand over Thomas without attempting to unload Szcerbiak, too?

Probably because someone doesn't have $20 mil in contracts they want to send out.

    Cap, Salary. Learn it.
