A 2009 draft pick for a 4 that can help us now, that rebounds and hit mid range jumpers. Also if we have KT, that means no KT for other teams.
Barry is either more injured then let on, or will get bought out and return. I believe his intangibles are valuable to the Spurs still. I remember when the Spurs guards got into early foul trouble he was able to hold down the offense till they returned.(finals, manu got whistled for 2 quick fouls) He can still get hot, handle the ball and make good decisions.
So this trade is very sensible, not overwhelming, but addresses front court depth, which we will need for the Lakers. It doesn't sacrifice the future, really how much will a 2009 first rounder help us? The Spurs window is the next four years.

thomas is a solid man defender and will flourish alongside Duncan.
