Yao out for season with stress fracture

Houston Rockets center Yao Ming will be out the rest of the season and post-season with a stress fracture in his sore left foot.
Yao was examined after Monday’s practice at Memorial Hermann Hospital and met Rockets team physician Dr. Tom Clanton to go over the test results.
The Rockets plan to announce a diagnosis Tuesday afternoon.
The Rockets have won 12 consecutive games since losing the one game Yao has missed this season.
Damn, between him and McGrady, they could start a damn hospital league...one of them is always out for mutiple months with some sort of injury.
Damn that sucks!!
I was really counting on them to push the nuggets out of the playoffs..
With repe ive foot/leg issues, they have to start considering if he's going to have ongoing, long-term problems.
Too bad for the Rockets.
Oh man. In the prior three years or so I've predicted great things for the Rockets only to have them fall short of my expectations.
This year I undervalued them and they were far exceeding my predictions. I thought I had the Jimcs50 reverse jinx power when it came to Houston.
I guess I was wrong.
You hate to see a contending team take a blow like that...Houston's had a tough go of it these last few years.
damn got a sense of Deja Vu there. How long has he had a sore left foot?
There goes the Rockets season. Lucky for Houston fans, baseball is about to start up.
This guy needs more calcium ... broken toe, broken leg and now a stress fracture? Something just not right ...
Stuff that has "Made in China" tends to break down for me as well. Just saying..
This is the same foot that has had multiple surgeries, isn't it?
Dayum. Very bad news for the Rockets. And they were looking good this year. This is going to take a lot of people by surprise - just last night on the news, they were talking about how Yao wants them to get to 14 wins and have a perfect month. What a blindside.
(in other news, Brent Barry will not be going to Houston and Houston will be lucky to make the playoffs, let alone get out of the first round)
Well he's not a light man plus he's ridiculously tall. It's some kind of medical condition that people his height get I bet.
Now all they need is for McGrady to sprain his vagina and they can close it down for the rest of the season.
That freaking sucks. God, the Rockets have had some horrible luck with injuries. One day you're here, the next day you're gone.
He's also probably going to be forced to play in the Beijing games this year and that may affect his recovery for next season
Cold.
Funny....but cold.
I couldn't resist. I was wondering if I was stepping over the line.![]()
This is just terrible news... terrible.
From outta nowhere, BAM!
Really, really tough break. After a disastrous start, the Rox were finding their way.
I feel bad for Yao. Sucks for the Rockets. Doesn't hurt the Spurs chances at all, that's for sure. I never like to see anybody go down with an injury like that.
Seems like Yao getting hurt is a perennial thing, though. He's becoming the big-mans version of Tracy "Half a Season" McGrady. For a guy who is that big and that wiry, banging in the post night after night, it's not really that surprising.
Spurs are winning and Yao is down again. Must be almost March.
One less team to worry about regarding Barry.
I didn't even think about that; there is no way China's letting him sit out of that in 3 1/2 months.
WOW, I didn't even realize it was that seriously injured. I have a feeling this may be the last season we see the McGrady/Yao combo. Between their injury prone selves, it's not good for continuity with this team.
I think Yao's foot problem may have a lot to do with the fact that he is ridiculously big and all that running up and down (even at his pace) over the span of an 82 season game isn't good for it. I have my doubts that he'll ever be able to play 82 games and 4 rounds in the postseason with his stamina and ailings.
