    Player 2007/08 2008/09 2009/10
    Tim Duncan $19,014,187 $20,598,703 $22,183,218 $
    Tony Parker $10,500,000 $11,550,000 $12,600,000
    Emanuel Ginobili $9,075,000 $9,900,000 $10,725,000
    Kurt Thomas $8,091,187 $0 $ 0
    Bruce Bowen $4,125,000 $4,000,000 $4,000,000
    Robert Horry $3,630,000 $0 $0
    Fabricio Oberto $3,600,000 $0 $0
    Michael Finley $3,103,000 $0 $0 $0 $0
    Matt Bonner $2,678,000 $2,959,190 $3,240,380
    Jacque Vaughn $1,219,590 $1,262,275 $0
    Ime Udoka $1,000,000 $1,080,000 $0
    Ian Mahinmi $938,760 $1,009,200 $1,079,640
    amon Stoudamire $609,795 $0 $0
    Brent Barry (buyout free agent)

After looking at this pay scale, I was trying to come up with what our roster would like like next year.
    the under contracts first.
    1 Tim
    2. Tony Parker
    3. Manu G
    4. Bruce Bowen
    5. Matt Bonner
    6. Jacque Vaughn
    7. Ime Udoka
    8. Ian Mahinmi
    9. Splinter......Obviously will be signed
    (9 players under contract)
ok, this leaves us with 3 active spots available and 3 non active spots.
My questions arise from who will we try to sign from current team if any of the expiring contracts.
So this is leaves 6 roster spots open if noone gets traded in the offseason

now on to the expiring contracts
    1. Robert Horry, Im 99.9% sure he will retire this year..hopefully.

    2. Mike Fenley- Boy, this one is a tough one.Are we gonna try to resign this guy for another year??? should we? Guy solids, but we need to get younger eventually.

    3. Fabricio Oberto- Another huge question mark. With the addition of 2 rookie big men(Ian and Splinter) I wonder if we try to sign him again or try to sign Kurt tomas one more year. maybe both

    4. Kurt tomas- I assume depending how he works out will decide if we bring him back next year

    5. Amon Stoudamire-Once again, gotta get younger, but just because we need to, doesnt mean we have to at all positions. Ian and Splinter bring some youth to the pf/c position.

    6. Brent Barry- Assuming the Spurs sign him back. Sigh... Our wings are older then dirt. By next year, need at least one younger talent, but if not..Barry still provides good veteran leadership.

ok.....seeing this six players free agents. This would be my roster next year.

    1. Center/PF - Ian, Tomas, Splinter, TD, Oberto 2 young guys, 2 old guys and and veteran Oberto. thats 5 players.

    2. Small Foward- Bruce Bowen, Ima Uduka, up to 7 players

    3. point Gaurd- tony parker, Jacque Vaugn, Stadamire. up to 10 players not completly happy with Stadamire, but if younger pg available....

    4. Gaurd- Manu, ( I just cant see bringing back Finley and Barry), but I woudnt necessarily be upset. 11 players.

This leaves us with 1 active roster spot and 3 non active spots.

This leaves us room to go after free angents and sign a 2nd round pick.

I think we need younger Gaurds and veteran Big man and lastly, some young prospects.

On the Brent barry issue, can someoen explain why Phonix didnt just claim him off waivers? I assume they didnt want to pay off his pro-rated salary the rest of the year??? Isnt that what the Waiver wire is for????Can someone explain this a little.

Lastly, the buyout, I think these goes agaisnt wait it was designed for. Old veteran players bought out and picked up by contenders. Just doesnt seem right and just for the rich to get richer. Teams should make their deal intrades and aqusitions, not because a veteran wants to play for a contender in a expiring contract. Just seem wrong to me.

Ok....these are my thoughts..what do you think?

Please correct all my mistakes as Im just free writting here.

You have to have room under the cap to claim someone off waivers. No one does (to speak of) so that's why claims are never made.

Buyouts have to be agreed to by the player.

Blank spaces mean the player is signed but they don't know the terms.
