interesting. are they planning on dealing Brown or Sheppard then?

Hang on their bud...No, he's not a Champ Bailey, but Asante is a very good CB.
This means Sheppard is gone....they already refused to rework his deal and are looking to trade him.
At the price he's now getting paid, yeah he is. But Asante is a damn good CB, one of the best in the league.
"Free agent CB reportedly inks six-year deal for $60M"
That's insane money for him. He's awesome but that's just insane cash. They have so much wrapped up now in two players.
As a Cowboy fan I approve this deal for what it will do in the long run.
he's a gambler who could (although not probable) bust in a different system.
Wow, me and Midge agree with each other for once.
Seriously, with that kind of coin Asante should get with Ocho Cinco and work up some TD celebrations because he's going to need a few to make that contract look worth it.
The Dallas Morning News Cowboys Blog is saying Eagles and Cards are working a deal to Swap Fitzgerald for Sheppard, FWIW...

That would be an incredible deal for Philly but wow...they are rolling through cap space fast if they do this.
More than anything they need to do something about their QB situation.
This is bad news for cowboy fans..A shut down corner on a defense who blitzes everydown is actually bad news for everyone!! He may be overated at this at this price, but he is still one of top 5 corners in the league...
True.
He got raped in the playoffs and in the Super Bowl.
I wouldn't be paying for that.
If McNabb is healthy, he is still one of the best QB's in the NFL. Getting Fitz will help him tremendously, now that he will have an amazing and big possesion reciever that doesnt drop anything (Fitzgerald), a guy who is BLAZING fast (Kevin Curtis), and several other recievers that are perfect 3rd and 4th options in Reggie Brown (all around ability), Hank Baskett (big as ), Greg Lewis (blazer), and Jeremy Avant (possesion and smarts). And you can't forget about the little guy catching passes out of the backfield (Westbrook). Their offense will be quite good with the addition of Fitz, who is perfect for McNabb's style of play.
I disagree. Game to game this may be a mess at times but in the long run such silly contracts will hurt them. I clap my hands in glee every time the Redskins sign someone. Such a signing should only be for "one or two" players away type teams. Phili is not that. I would be ting my pants if the Giants had signed him.
Also I would be very concerned that anyone on the Pats is a "Bill Belichick" system player so there is a huge red flag.
I just don't see it. I follow the Eagles closely and I think he is a decent QB who needs players around him to do well.
Thats not a criticism. Just the way it is.
I think he is worn out....some players simply have a short window to excel in and I think his time has passed. The guy hasn't played a full season since 03 (I think) and every year it's "If he is healthy" and when he goes into training camp he will as usual say "I have never felt better in my career" and as usual ESPN and CNNSI will talk about what a huge threat they are and as usual, they will fall short.
Yeah if the Eagles add Fitzgerald, and the addition of Samuels, IMO makes them one of the top teams in the NFC.
All dependent on the health of McNabb though, and thats always a crapshoot. If the Eagles were smart they'd go and grab a solid QB who wouldn't suck horribly when played.
Funny how after one good season Cowboy Fan will immediately write off Philly. That team has owned you and the NFC East for the better part of a decade. Even with injuries to McNabb, they're always a Super Bowl threat in the NFC. This year is no different.
Try winning one playoff game before writing off the most consistent team in the NFC East of the past decade.
He made it to 3 NFC Championship games with minimal offensive talent surrounding him.
And he made it to the Super Bowl with Terrell Owens, rather than choking it in his first playoff game two years in a row. If McNabb is a "decent QB who needs players around him", then what do you call Tony Romo?
lol...
simmer down dere tonto.
They had their chance and blew it over and over again. That has nothing to do with the Cowboys.
Every season they get hyped up and blow it. Cowboys new era has been for 2 years and they have blown it twice. If they do it again next year I will compare them to the Eagles, I am a Cowboy fan but I am realistic. I don't defend them blindly...I criticize the Cowboys more than most fans.
I am much more concerned about the Giants than the Cowboys. Eli seems to have his head on straight and McNabb will probably start 12 games next year. The Giants aren't getting enough respect and the Eagles, as usual, get too much.
Remember a month or so ago when their were rumors that Phili was going to go after Derek Anderson and McNabb was going to move teams? (I think to the Ravens) then I was worried about Phili...

Too much? They've only been the most consistent team in the NFC East for a decade now. McNabb has only been the most consistently good QB in the NFC East for a decade now. They've been to 4 NFC Championship Games and a Super Bowl. That's "blowing it"? Again, how about if Cowboy Fan's team wins one ing playoff game before talking about a team that has owned their candy asses for years now.
And the Cowboys era started when the "savior" Bill Parcells stepped foot in Valley Ranch. Spin that Cowboy Fan "rebuilding" crap all you want, but this team was expected to win as soon as Parcells got there, and they've been a miserable failure from then all the way until now.
The Eagles & Giants are the teams to beat in the NFC East until the Cowboys can prove with just ONE playoff victory that they belong in the same league as those two teams.
Don't see how Cowboy Fan can describe the most successful team in their division over the past decade as a team that "blows it" when they've been to 4 NFC Championship Games and a Super Bowl and your team hasn't won a playoff game in over 10 years.
