Say I were to have 2 identicle tvs, and one was 6000-1 contrast ratio and the other was 1000-1 contrast ratio, would you notice a big difference? I'm asking because the 6000-1 is 250 bucks cheaper and I don't even know what contrast ratio is, and that is the only difference between the 2, same brand same everything

Conrast ratio is important in getting that 'pop' you see from a very crisp picture. Although, most of the time what you are getting at home isn't as high as the advertised contrast ratio, so if the 2 sets are pretty close in CR don't fret too much. But I would say that 1000:1 contrast ratio is very low.

Well the higher the contrast ratio the better. Also, the more expensive has 1080P resolution as in full HD via HDMI for you bluray or HDDVD. So go with the first one as you'll get more "life" out of it.

Keep in mind also, how far you sit from the TV makes a difference! I sit about 13 feet from my TV, I did the research and i ended up with a 61" Samsung DLP TV..It's awesome and i'm sure you'll love whatever you buy, BUT do good research! Check out this forum http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/
