Got to thinking that it might be time to set up a fantasy league, if only to make sure that a group can get a good draft time on yahoo or some other service. I'm willing to be the commissioner for a league if there aren't any objections to that. Probably not a money league -- just for fun and bragging rights. I'm thinking 12 owners and would prefer that the league be comprised of serious players and not those who will draft a team and then never change a lineup after early May.

    Any interest?

    I'm definitely in.

And I have no objections to FWD being the commish, either. He seems very honest and fair ... for a lawyer

So we aren't going to do the league we did last year? I had a good time in that league. Not as good as Mel had but still...

I'll do this league and I don't have any problems with FWDT being the commish.

I'll also do that same league we did last season.

The only thing I would suggest if that we suspend adds and drops for the playoffs...all that subbing starting pitchers is too much like work.

I'm thinking that this league would look a lot like last year's league. I don't know if there's some particular aspect to last year's league that you want to carry over, but I'd imagine that most of the owners would be the same. The rules could certainly be negotiable, too.

I just want to get the ball rolling -- opening day is less than a month away now and favorable draft times are going to get harder and harder to come by.

As for the money thing, I wasn't contemplating a money league, but I'm not absolute on that issue if it will make the league better.

My biggest concern is deadbeat owners. Even in last year's league, there were owners who drafted teams and then lost interest by mid-May. I would think that we could come up with some sort of disincentives for owners who can't be bothered to change their lineups for months and things like that. It's a much better league if everyone is participating.

Someone would have to explain the ROE, but I think I'd like to try it....and I wouldn't quit, no matter how bad I was losing.

Seriously though, someone PM me the rules.

Yeah if someone could post the scoring setup that is usually played. Is it like weekly scoring or what? What gives you points all offense? Like Homeruns, rbi's etc???

Yeah, I'd be open to suggestions on the categories or other rules, but yavozerb's post gives the usual categories.

If we have 8, I might go ahead and set up the league. Might be tomorrow afternoon before I get it done, but I'll do it.

    Few questions...

Does any stat carry more weight than the other?

Is it H2H matchups against someone on a weekly basis?

How many pitchers and position players do you draft and play during a given week?

If you already have eight and it doesn't include me, then please just respond to appease my curiousity.

    Thanks!

In the league i am in Hr are worth like 4-5 points? triples 3 doubles 2 singles 1 strikeouts are-1

    We play h2h

you usually start 5 pitchers and 2 relief pitchers..a win is worth 3-5 points a loss is like -3 every run given up is worth like -.5...

then u have your 1b,2b,ss,3b,3 of,and 2-4 Utility or Dh players...

this is all a summary the numbers are exact..just an example
