    Mike D;Antoni totally nailed it:

“I’ll tell you what,” D’Antoni said, “since watching him in Europe and watching his maturity here, and this is a shame, he’s one of the best players in the world, without a doubt, but he never gets mentioned. He didn’t even make the All-Star team, which is a travesty.

“I think he exemplifies everything you want a player to be: great in the clutch, great at getting after a loose ball, great at defense, great at offense, unselfish; takes a contract for less money to make his team better.

“I don’t think there is one superlative you can say that is too much about him. Not (in San Antonio), but in the world he is unappreciated. Maybe because he is unorthodox, whatever. I don’t know. But I’ll tell you what, you can’t get a better player than him.

“You can debate Kobe or LeBron. Fine. But he is right there in the debate.”

Nicest thing he has ever said about a Spur.

The homer in me is like: Yes this is true.

But, realistic side is like: WTF did he just say?

Manu is the best player the Spurs have, he should've been the Finals MVP in 2005.

Duncan is clearly declining and overrated (and making 19M/year).

    Parker is inconsistent.

Manu is the MVP of the Spurs

Manu brings the heart of a champion every night, whether the body or skills are there or not. You can't ask more from a player.

In the 4th quarter in a tight game, Pop and the team go to Manu. Not Tony. Not Tim.

D Antoni could be an oponent (or enemy ) but he understand BB, that's why I don't understand what he's been doing with those trades, getting old like Spurs probably the reason.

Manu IS in the MVP discussion. He just doesn't have a chance to win it. But, he's in it. He'll probably end up around 5th to 7th in the MVP race.

It's Kobes turn. Of course a ton of Eastern Media are pushing KG. But I think Kobe still gets it. And of course, everyone in Ohio thinks it's King James.

Manu doesn't stand a chance in . Doesn't sell enough hype...Doesn't sell enough shoes, headbands, etc. etc. Doesn't have any tatoos. He just won't cut it as MVP. Stern simply would not allow it.

It wouldn't be right for a guy that just simply and quietly wins all over the World to be MVP.

Edit: If Kobe wins, will he call a press conference and demand to know why it took them so damn long to select him?

There are 15 spots on the 3 All NBA teams. There are 24 ASG spots. Do the math.

Except that many coaches are now realizing that it was stupid leaving him off the All Star team.

You think the East will be unrepresented in the All NBA teams?

They realize it every year, but they're a little slower than you think. They have their realization when most of the players that they actually selected for the three All NBA teams are golfing after the second round of the playoffs. A few columnists will comment on it, but the next year, the "marketable" faces continue to appear on those three All NBA teams.

    Hes got the numbers
    21 points 5 boards 4 or 5 assists.

As solid or good as anyone else.

He does deserve SOME MVP recognition.

Is he in the Kobe, Lebron, or Chris Paul level? Obviously not.

Pretty damn good for the second option on the team though.

Maybe third team. Chris Paul and Kobe Bryant pretty much locked up first team. It could be interesting for the guard spots for the second and third teams. Iverson, Nash will both be likely. Baron Davis should get consideration. And, T-Mac has made a case for himself recently if he continues at this pace and the Rockets still make the playoffs. Manu fits in there somewhere as well. It really depends on the voters and what they think. But, he definitely has a chance.

    McGrady should be a forward.

His size and game predicate small forward voting.

His game actually makes him a guard, with all the ball handling and play making he does. He has played shooting guard for the last couple seasons since Shane Battier is the small forward on the Rockets. He's tall for a guard, but he still plays guard.

He's a Spurs player not named Duncan, which means that outside of Finals MVP, he has no chance at an individual player award. I think the writers vote these teams, which means it's a double lock.

Face it, Manu won't get any kind of individual awards or recognition for his play as long as he's with the Spurs. If he was playing for a major market team I could see him being in the running for some. 2005 was his best chance at getting at least the Finals MVP and he couldn't even get that even though he had an amazing playoffs. I don't even know if he'll make another All Star apperance with the amount of talent there is and with him playing this whole summer with his NT. The only thing he has a good shot of getting is the 6MOY award and even then some coaches don't even see him one plus like Manu said it's really a stupid award. You're either the best or your not. None of this who's the best from the bench.
