This is why point differential is a more important stat than wins/losses in the regular season IMHO. Last season the Mavs had more regular season wins than the Spurs, but the Spurs had a much higher point differential. We all know what happened.
This is the most concerning thing for me. I can't remember when was last time Spurs totally demolished any opponent. I mean having a lead by 25+ at halftime and keeping it until the end.
I think we used to do that last season a lot more often. It is definitely not a good sign if we can't do this anymore.

yeah, I don't mind going on an 11 game winning streak and then losing 3 in a row. But if we are only winning by avg of <5 pts. it is not a good thing
Boston and Detroit have higher point diff than the Spurs. Last I checked the Spurs were 4th.
As do the Lakers, Jazz, and Hornets.
I agree.
I cant take pissy 11-point wins against the Nets and the Pacers. We should have blown them out by 20-somethings.
And with the way Western Conference and the the two real teams of the East are playing, this doesn't bode well for the defending champs.
This is really going to hurt our BCS standings. We should play our starters for more minutes, or we are going to end up in the Cotton Bowl.
We have always been like this.....When can you ever remember us blowing teams out? we slow down the game so much we don't get a chance to get in a good enough rhythm to have high scoring games, thus making our changes of blowing a team out less.
If we blow a team out then our offense is just clicking on all cylinders....which doesn't happen rarely, sad to say.
since january spurs have been either bad or mediocre. they have not played 40 minutes of solid ball.
offense is lacking as well.
I still beleive they will pull it off in the playoffs. But the rest of this regular season won't be pretty
I remember last year on our 13-game win streak we were winning by 20,30, and 40 on teams like Seattle and Golden State. Usually the Spurs peak this time of year, but it doesn't feel like it.
that was great.
not true, I remember in the past seasons every 5 games or so, Spurs would completely and utterly destroy a random opponent.
Stats are for pussies. Wins are for champions.
The spurs offense was much better at the beginning of the season but after all the injuries our offense never got back on track. The spurs not being completely healthy are part of the reason.
This time of year I'll take a win--any win--whether it's by 4 points or 40. Obviously I'd rather see the Spurs blowing teams out, but I think it's still a bit early for them to start peaking. If they're still squeaking out wins against mediocre teams in April, then I'll start to worry.
All I know is that its been way too long since the Spurs handily demolished anyone.
Wait wait! I got it! We should be on the New England Patriots plan of saving ourselves for the big game.
i think we can say three real teams, with the cavs thrown into the mix now..
and then maybe, just maybe, if they can gel well, then perhaps the bulls?
but i think the bulls are a long shot.
Since nonone answered my questions I looked it up. last 20+ win was in indiana Feb 5. our only of the year. 3rd this season
we have won by 20+ only 3 times this season
last season at this time of the year we had won 12 games by 20+ pts.
I'd be curious to see the number of 3's the Spurs made in those blowouts. I suspect that their success behind the arc may play a pretty big role in those games.
do y'all think we wouldn't be blowing the teams with the big three healthy the whole season? give yourselves a freaking break!!! last season none of the three had health issues... THAT is the reason for the point differential this season, so stop ing and enjoy the ride to the 5th! Believe god damn it!
Not the Bulls. I've been waiting all season for them to come out and make a good playoff push but that doesn't seem realistic. They're too young, too short, and too many jumpshots. I think they work best in a run-and-gun system but I dont think Jim Boylan is the man for the job.
Cavs, probably. They're still a long way from Boston or Detroit though.
Didn't they just route Indiana pretty well the other day?
