Listening to this on the radio. Conflicting stories on whether the mother has lived or died.

A mother threw her two children off an overpass and then she followed, jumping into Wednesday morning’s rush-hour traffic on Interstate 30 near Jim Miller Road, according to Dallas-Fire Rescue.

Interstate 30 at Jim Miller Road The mom and two children fell about 22 feet from the overpass railing into oncoming westbound traffic but survived, Dallas police said.

The 28-year-old mother had been hit by a vehicle and was listed in critical condition at Baylor University Medical Cener at Dallas, police said. The boys, ages 8 and about 6, were in good condition and taken to Children's Medical Center Dallas. One of the boys had a broken arm and both were able to communicate with paramedics.

“It ‘s a miracle both kids weren’t hit directly by a passing car,” Dallas police Sgt. David Burroughs said.

The incident happened about 6:30 a.m., according to Traffic Pulse.

Dallas police said the woman and children had been riding in a car with a man when the adults became involved in some sort of altercation. The woman and her children got out of the car and the man drove off, Sgt. Burroughs said. Police were searching for the man this morning.

Traffic on westbound Interstate 30 was expected to be snarled for several hours.

I obviously don't know the whole story, but it sounds like another distraught mom in some sort of domestic dispute.

Why do you here these stories of these women that get into a tussle with their boyfriend/spouse/homeboy and then are willing to throw themselves and their kids under a bus (literally sometimes) as some sort of retaliation? It seems to happen a lot.

Suicide is one thing, but it's like they blame their children for their unhappiness and decide to take them out too. It's just confusing.

Would one of the Club's resident psychologists please clear this phenomena up for me?

    Thanks in advance.

OK, sad story, but how weak and/or stupid are the 6 & 8 year olds that can't get away from crazy mama? o?! Jumping off 22-foot bridge and into freeway traffic doesn't take a genius to figure out that it isn't a good idea.

To with the "Respect your mother" crap!

I'm sure the mom was strong enough to pull them up and throw them over. And since they were younger they had to no idea about what was going to happen, and probably just went along with it. I doubt they voluntarily jumped because mom said to.

Interesting to find out the truth about who the man was and show all the false assumptions that people made- probably in their attempt to find a cause for why a woman would do this, people tend to assume it was caused by a domestic problem with a husband or boyfriend.

Two children struggled Wednesday morning before their mother threw them 22 feet from an overpass into oncoming Interstate 30 rush-hour traffic, Dallas police said.

Khandi Busby, 27, then jumped herself from the overpass railing on Jim Miller Road, police said.

All three survived and were taken to local hospitals where the mom was listed in critical condition. The two boys, Gary Ford, 8, and Derrick Tennison, 6, were able to communicate with paramedics at the scene and their injuries did not appear life-threatening.

"We don't know the reason at this point why she did this," said Dallas police Sgt. Gil Cerda.

The woman had been riding in a yellow Cadillac with her two children and her father, police said. The family was on their way to visit a friend.

It was unclear whether the adults had been fighting, but at some point the father stopped at a nearby gas station and Ms. Busby got out of the car with the children. She walked to the overpass, threatened to jump, and her father followed, apparently trying to prevent her from hurting herself or her children, police said.

The father, however could not reach them in time. At about 6:30 a.m., Ms. Busby threw Gary and Derrick over the railing and then jumped.

Police said multiple witnesses saw the incident and alerted 911. It did not appear that any motorists were injured from the falls.

Ms. Busby was taken to Baylor University Medical Cener at Dallas, and the boys were transported to Children's Medical Center Dallas. Dallas police said earlier that the boys may have been grazed by passing traffic. But Lt. C.L. Williams said at a news conference later in the day that they were still trying to verify whether anyone had been struck by vehicles after they fell.

Interstate 30 at Jim Miller Road “It ‘s a miracle both kids weren’t hit directly by a passing car,” Dallas police Sgt. David Burroughs said.

Police said the father had left the scene after the woman jumped, but investigators later located him at Baylor hospital with Ms. Busby.

Dallas police said Child Protective Services has had involvement with the family and that Ms. Busby has a criminal record.

Wow. That is just too much. There is obviously more to the story. Why did the woman feel to get out of the car when he stopped at the gas station? Its weird.
