Lately, there has been numerous stories about the Spurs trying to make trades. I ask--why? The Spurs are having the best starts ever and are leading their division.

    Who knows.

    I don't know why people aren't pleased.

But one thing im not pleased with is losing to Utah!!!

If the Sixer's cruise by the Jazz, why didn't the Spurs?

    I don't think they're panicking.

They've made it clear that they've been disappointed in Rasho for several weeks now.

I'm just not convinced they're going to get reliable value in return. This is a championship year, not a rebuilding or restructuring year.

I don't know why, but I think the Spurs might come up short again this year.

No one is holding their confidence, and everyone is panicking , trying to see who we could trade, when we don't need to trade anyone, or change the line-ups.

Name me a center AVAILABLE thats better than Rasho Nesterovic.

No one has yet to answer this question.

He had in limited minutes last night 6 points 7 boards.

give him 35 minutes its probobly 8 points 10 boards.

He just got off of a 2 block 11 rebound game.

Once again, name me a center that does that for his money?

    Curry?? Issac Austin's little brother.

Chandler?? He makes Derrick Coleman look like AC Green

Come on experts, name me some centers that are available that are better.

Al....who is panicking? Every team makes inquiries every season just to see what is out there. I can guarantee there are several trade possibilities that have been discussed that we will never hear about. I wouldn't worry.

No one is panicking. The Spurs always talk to other teams throughout the year about possible player moves. Is it a bad thing to check things out and see if there's a way to improve?

When the best picture you can find for the Spurs' starting center is him fouling someone with his eyes closed, there is a problem.

the Spurs organization (players, coaches, FO) are not panicking 1/1000th as much as most of the people posting all kinds of panic, after each loss on this forum.

If the playoffs started today the Spurs would play the headcase T-pups as the 2nd seed, sonics would play the lakers with the winner playing the Spurs. The Suns may await the 2-3 seed winner. Why would anyone panic about the road in the playoffs.

Ok Guys, maybe I should say it differently.

Why are so many people making new threads talking about:

    -who to trade-
    -how to change the line-ups-
    -whos better on the Spurs-

None of it makes sense because the Spurs have a great record.

When the Spurs have a pretty bad record to start, then what do people in this forum talk about?

    Everything is so negative.

Im going to continue to say what i've been saying, don't change anything if your record is as great as the Spurs' record.

Well even with their great record, they haven't played well lately. Indiana, Denver and Utah -- three games in a row, they haven't played up to par. They have A LOT of room for improvement. Sometimes the record doesn't tell the whole story.

Yeah, but even way before these games.

People are always talking about who's better, who should we trade, etc.

That's what I wanted to know...

Why so many ideas for trades?

cosidering they (Spurs players) usually dont get really focused until after the all-star break are you really surprised by their behavior this year? I'm suprised they have won as much as they have.

Sonics and Suns are hungry and it shows. Most of the Spurs just seem to go through the motions against sub .500 teams.

    ShoogarBear =

Besides, I have it on good authority that Hedo will be first in line to get, um, friendlier with Stevie Francis now.

I think the Spurs are probably one of the more forward looking franchises in the league. The day of the true center (a la DRob, Shaq, Rasho, Ilgauskas, etc.) are numbered. Even at the major college powers, you don't see the prototypical "center" of yesteryear. , even Duke runs four guards and a PF a lot. There's just not that many true centers out there, you see teams running out guys like Ronnie Turiaff, Kevin Bookout, Wayne Simien, etc. as their starting "centers".

The future in this league, which you're already starting to see evolve, is in European style basketball, flex/motion based offenses like you see already in teams like Phoenix and Seattle.

To surive in that future, teams are going to need quicker, more athletic big men, and today's PFs will become tomorrow's "centers." Think Amare, KG, Tim, Dirk, etc. at the 5 spot.

Given the organization's propensity for the big picture, it's easily understandable why they're looking to make a move to prepare for that future, and yes in this case I imagine Rasho and Rose are at the top of their list to move if possible, both for basis of contracts and because neither are ideally suited for what's coming down the pipe in the European and college game.

When the best picture you can find of Malik Rose is him either whining to the refs or laying on the floor after a stupid driving to the basket move, there is a proble,.

BTW, that is a clear block, foul or not.

Yeah, it probaly was. What does that have to do with Rasho being a pvss? If the Spurs are going to go with Horry, they might as well trade Rose. His has some value and there are some trades on the table, so they might as well pull the trigger. He isn't a good 10th man.

I do see where you are coming from.

But how many more productive years will Horry have, honostly...

Horry just needs to have one more productive year...this year. If Malik and/or Rasho is moved it may free up money for younger better players who dont cost as much.

To play devil's advocate, Horry just needs one more good year (this one). Next year we've got Scola coming over, and it sounds like the Spurs are sold on Linton and his length taking on the role of defending the long 3/4/5s of the league.

    exactly right.

If Scola is worth anything, wich honestly, the book is still out on him.

    Then Horry is expendable.

More than likely if the Spurs win it all this year, wich acording to some, wont happen, then Horry will probobly retire.

    Scola fills in for him.

    but.

Like Ive said, what team has a center, better than Rasho, that the salaries match, that your gonna get.

Only centers that I would be interested in are

    Nazy Mohammed in New York
    Stromile Swift in Memphis.

Other than that, name some available big men, that can fill the role??
