OTA HD channels

How they does it work? My tv has a HD tuner built in so I finally got around to messing with it and the channels are all weird, Like the game is on ch. 112-1
HD and ch 7 standard, WTF why are they are all odd like that. What are the San Antonio stations in HD and what is there whack out Ch. numbers?

every tv like that has funky channels for the hd ones unless you get a digital box like timewarner or dish or directv. Funny cause those tv's will be able to pick up some movie channels too and you aren't even paying for them. That's pretty cool. at my parents house, they got like three extra movie channels and sometimes they'd get a porn channel for like 10 seconds and then it went away. we get HBO on our HD tv in the master bedroom (that one just has the coaxel cable run through it, no cable box)

I just take my locals through DirecTv. I never had any luck with the OTA stuff, because sometimes my box would pick them up and sometimes it wouldn't. Of course I was using a first generation Dish Network 801 box. I kept having to search the channels to find everything except KSAT, which has its' transmitter fairly close to my house.
