The Spurs showed up pretty good today with an excellent victory and scored 107 pts!
Let’s start with Tim Duncan – who played excellent in defense – he really shut down Howard (as much as he can!) as blocking 3 of his shots – Timmy outplayed Howard in all key plays and the Top of the play was in the end when Timmy faked a shot, Howard went on the ‘air’ for nothing, and then Timmy passed him and scored easily almost a DUNK…payback time for last year’s dunk???
The entire Spurs bench was joking after the play! Maybe – anyway, Howard didn’t get a DUNK today…excellent “D” by the Spurs…
The Spurs had a GREAT LUCK again (a destiny to win it ALL???!!!) as Orlando got very early injuries – Nelson and Hedo left the game early which put the Orlando in very difficult position to win…Is this a LUCK to WIN or what? Last game Dirk, now even 2 starters from the opposition get injured and the Spurs win??? Even though I don’t like this kind of “gifts”, I guess the Spurs can take them…
Anyway, the first half was kind of “basket-for-basket” as the Spurs were really trying to stay close and do their “hit” sometimes in the 2nd half…
My HAT OFF to Michael Finley – everyone wrote him OFF for the season, but the OLD FELLOW showed us he is got a lot power LEFT in the tank…he was unbelievable and kept the Spurs in the game by scoring 24 pts today 9-13 shooting!!! Way to go! If Michael puts that kind of performance in the Playoffs, NOBODY can beat us…
The 2nd half started with the Spurs getting into a SHORT shooting slump, Orlando got the lead 69-61 and when everyone was thinking Orlando will beat us with margin, K. Bogans (who was 1-5 from the line) missed 3 FTS, and the RUN STARTED RIGHT THERE – the Spurs started played GREAT “D” and made the turnaround – from that point on we held Orlando to 4 pts in the rest of the quarter and scored 19 of our own –
- the run again was something like 13-0 or 15-0 (???), anyway this decided the game right there plus 2 critical blocks of Timmy on Howard sealed the deal right there…
Manu was the usual Manu – our LEADER with 28 pts, he was unbelievable as well!!! The Spurs MVP this season is MANU!!! Howard tried poorly to knock Manu down in almost fragrant foul in the 4th (a 2nd game in a row difficulties for Manu after Stack tried to choke him!), but Manu is strong, he can take it!!!??? Anyway the refs even didn’t give Manu the extra 2 FTs as they should have…Howard even didn’t get a technical foul on the play, ridiculous!???
Orlando tried to make a run in the 4th and cut the lead down to 3 (82-85) with almost 5 minutes to go, but then we held them (AGAIN!!!) for just 4 pts in the last 3 ½ min. (with 1 min. left the reserves played because the game was over!!!) and close them down with class…
Tony is really struggling – he needs to pick it up, otherwise, everyone else played really well –
I like the combo Bowen-Udoka together on the floor – it makes us really strong and tough in defense…
With that VERY IMPORTANT “W”’ the Spurs put themselves BACK into a position to attack the 1st place in the WC very soon – the next 5 games will be easier to win, especially the next 2 at home are against LAC and MIN, games we should win anyway, easily…Hopefully, the other teams with tougher schedule stumble…
Indy almost held up the Hornets today – with 4 min. left in the game the score was 102-100 Hornets, so I believe the Hornets will lose games on the road going forward – sure 2 losses are coming for them in the next 4 games – my prediction after the next 5 games: the Spurs will hold the NUMBER 1 position in the West…

Not as good as a TimVP recap.
Game thoughts really need to be left to timvp.
He does them so well.
His game thought threads are where this should go.
With paragraphs of course.
Those threads are where this conversation takes place.
The only time other game thought threads have been done is if someone goes to a game.
If every regular here started a thread after every game...

Yeah, but did ya notice when he came down, he almost acted like he might have tweaked his ankle a bit or something. I was just thinking...Wouldn't it be a if he broke an ankle on one of those high flying shots, just as Orlando was going to be one of the top 4 teams in the playoffs.

I read the "commentary" of this "timvp" for today's agme - BUNCH OF NON-SENSE and b******T! He watched the game with "his behind"...to say "ugly win" and nothing interesting, blah, blah, blah, no mentioning of Michael Finley - we won because they got injuries - stop that - This is NBA!!! 2 players got injured but then R. Lewis and Dooley stepped up and had a MONSTER game...

WELL Played game, WELL deserved Victory against a TOP team in the East with 23-14 at home...

No way this game-victory deserves asterisk...You need sometimes that LUCK in the game...Last year Horry did what he did against the Suns...you had that Game 5-asterisk WIN, an ugly one, BUT WHO CARES??? WE WON THE LE AFTERWARDS...

Spurs look offense good.
Spurs defense was poor in first half.
Will they continue to look good, get better or return to previous play?
If their offense is as good the rest of the way and Parker cleans up his game we will repeat.

No one else does them, we post our opinions in that thread and have a conversation.
If every regular here posted a new thread for every thought after a game the board would turn to .

So, your suggestion is to wait for a guy to POST "his thoughts' for the game and follow him after that? Non-sense...About the yelling, yes, I am sometimes, when the Spurs play poorly...Pop is yelling even harder in them, EVERY DAY, you heard about emotions?

My suggestion is if you like this board then take the time to get to know how it works. Who the players are.
There's a game blog where a running conversation goes on during and after every game.
Yes, we do wait for timvp's game thoughts.
Why?
Because they're articulate and better than most of the sportswriters. Once he posts them, more conversation follows.
Last year he did grades, but it worked the same way.
We respect him, we find his thoughts worth reading. We agree or we argue, but that thread is where it happens.
We all get emotional when the Spurs play below their ability.
But no one here yells.
It's not pleasant to read.
Get to know ST. You might like it.
And if you don't you don't have to stay.
