Denver rolls, Dallas sinks closer to that low lottery pick.

And Dallas could or should lose a good number of those games....wow...they sunk faster than Bear Stearns stock.

If Dallas improbably wins tonight, they will make the playoffs. They would clinch the season series tiebreaker over Denver, and with 10 games left, the Nuggets would have to make up 4 games on the Mavs. If they lose, the Nuggets will be just one game back, they'll have the tiebreaker themselves, and they would only need to make up 1 game on the Mavs. Tonight is a three-game swing for both teams.

I agree, but I think Denver smells blood. IMHO, without Dirk Dallas is going to have a very hard time making the playoffs.

Any news on how long he will be out, or how he is responding to treatment?

There are murmurs that he'll be back for the home game against Golden State.

Denver is a good home team and without Dirk, I don't think we have enough scorers to keep pace with them. I don't even expect it to be close. But that's why they play the games, who picked Charlotte to beat the Lakers last night?

I hope so, I really don't like any team to have star players injured, and Dirk is fun to watch.

Also, the sprain did not look that bad as far as twisting, but high ankle sprains are strange beasts.

I hope for the classy Mavs fans like you Fin that he is back soon.

It's pretty simple. Win and the Nuggets can't catch you, Dirk or no Dirk. Lose and it will be tough to hold them off without Dirk.

Denver is going to score like crazy, Mavs don't have enough offensive firepower to come close IMO.

The Lakers were lucky to keep it close with some lucky fluke shots and bs calls from the refs.

As for the game itself, it's looking like the Rockets game a few weeks ago. A streaking team comes gunning for a Dirkless Mavs, with a lot on the line for both teams. If the Mavs lay another egg like they did in that game stick a fork in them. If they show up ready to play, actually show a sense of urgency they might be able to steal this one. If they can show me a respectable effort tonight I can believe that they could still find a way to hang on to their spot, even with a loss.

If Denver does not win tonight they should just quit the NBA. No excuse for that.

I think the Mavs have a chance.
The reason is Denver is such a big unknown. Some games they decide to show up, some games they just suck badly. Even if Denver wins tonight, they might lose 3 in a row against the East after that.
That's why they are first round fodder. They just have no consistency at all.

Lue should be starting tonight. Kidd has no shot against Iverson. Lue is also a better shooter than Stackhouse. I hope Avery makes the right decision but I'm sure he is going to it up like usual.

Denver will roll tonight, they will be jacked up and the Mavs will be sucking wind by the end of the 3rd quarter, I doubt it will even be close.

Mavs are in some serious trouble. You would think even without Dirk they could compete giving there roster. The mental side is a huge question. The Kidd trade has not panned out and giving the last 2 years mental breakdowns I ask myself what will be any different tonight. This is a Playoff game. I do see the Nuggets smelling blood. They have been a disapointment themselves. Up until Dirk went down they were on the outside looking in. They can kick down the door tonight and find themselves in the West Tournament this year. And we all know that will be a free for all!

Didn't the Mavs trade this years number one to the Nets. If so the Nets must be laughing. They might get 2 lotto picks this year. Not sure though!

I think the number 1 is lotto protected, but they will be so low down in the lottery that getting an impact player is fairly rare.

    Cuban screwed the pooch.
