No, sorry.
Galileo's Dynasty Formula
Ok, Spurs fans, as I posted it earlier, here is my Dynasty Formula.
http://www.spurstalk.com/forums/show...5&page=1&pp=26
To be a mini-dynasty, you must be greater than 1. (not equal, greater)
To be a real dynasty, you must be greater than 2. (not equal, greater)
You take the number of championships, square it, and divide by the number of years.
Examples:
Houston Rockets 2 in 2 years.
2 squared is 4. 4 divided by 2 is 2. The Rockets had a mini-dynasty.
Spurs
4 of 9. 16 divded by 9 = 1.78 mini-dynasty
3 of 5 = 1.8 mini-dynasty
Green Bay Packers 1960s
5 of 7 = 3.57 dynasty
Pittsburg Steelers 1970s
4 of 6 = 2.67 dynasty
Note that you must win at least 3 championships to be a dynasty. You must have at least one back-to-back, unless you go 4 of 7.
Also note that Galileo's dynasty formula works for all major team sports.
If the Spurs win this year, we have:
5 of 10 = 2.5 dynasty
4 of 6 = 2.67 dynasty
3 of 4 = 2.25 dynasty
So the Spurs can move from a mini-dynasty to a dynasty with this year's NBA le.
Go Spurs!
Spurstalk, home of Galileo's dynasty formula!
Please pass this on to Ernie and Charles Barkley.
ummm okay, not exactly how i would do it but okay...
Self-important OP is self-important.
Neat formula, although I don't think Math is a strong suite of the ST community.
Neither is spelling, apparently.
do you have a better formula?
What's wrong with the formula?
off! I'm not going back and editing.
rAm couldn't do it on his fingers, so it's automatically a failure.
If they are smart enough to figure out that the Spurs are the best NBA team, and Tim Duncan is the best NBA player, they should be smart enough to multiply and divide.
Sorry, man. I couldn't resist.
According to the formula the Spurs have seven years to add two more les to achieve "dynasty" status. 6 les in 16 years equals 2.25 = dynasty.
Heck, let's go for three more les in the next twelve years. 7 les in 21 years equals 2.33 = dynasty!!!
I think this formula is flawed, and many fans have the wrong idea of a dynasty. The term "dynasty" was first used (to my knowledge) to describe the Yankees, and it meant that they were able to keep winning EVEN AS PLAYERS CHANGED, replacing one key player with another. The dynasty was thus passed on from Babe Ruth, to Joe DiMaggio, and finally to the Mickey Mantle Yankees. Over the years the players changed, but the team kept winning. This is also the original meaning of the word "dynasty," that a ruler or king passed on his power from one generation to the next.
Looking at it this way, the Spurs dynasty really started back with David Robinson, and has been going on ever since. The Spurs have been winning games for nearly TWENTY YEARS now. The spurs longetivity makes them a dynasty in my book.
