This guy's gonna be great for the playoffs
I want this guy to get a lot more minutes. I love the way he plays with Manu on the floor, and his rebounding has been a nice plus. It's also a nice asset to have a Center who can hit a shot outside of 10 feet consistently (so no, Elson doesn't count)
What I want to know is if other Spurs fans are happy with K Thomas so far, or if you were expecting more/less out of him.
I think he could be a very solid contributor off the bench for us, and while he's not as quick as Oberto, I actually prefer having Thomas out there than Fabricio (whose inconsistency has been puzzling at times)

I think hes been fine.
Theres been times were teams went small and DUncan and him can't be both on the court for that.
I think him coming off the bench and playing the main big with Manu Vaughn Udoka and Horry is the perfect role.
tp and kurt were doing well together to
but manu needs some help and a big man when duncan and tp rest
I don't know how much I like the TP/KT combo.
If anything, I think they still haven't quite figured out how to play with each other just yet.
They're fine together.
the church of manu is in full session
That wasn't a knock on TP at all, I just think the pick and roll seems to be working much better with Manu and KT than it does with KT and TP
it is against usually the second string of the other team
He's been about average so far. He's not playing better than I expected and he's not playing poorly. I do think some Spurs fans overrated him but Thomas has now settled into a good role off the bench. He's not a big man savior but he is pretty damn solid.
It'll be interesting to see how he does come playoff time.
I like what I see so far. In fact, I've loved his game for years. He's is a steady contributor. I like that he brings rebounding and physicality to the team. Qualities that were sorely needed.
I like him. I do wish he was a little more fleet of foot and brought more energy. He's smart, has some good fundamentals, but I'd like to see more energy.
Maybe he'll ignite a bit in the playoffs
Is he worth $9M next season?
No. Luckily he'll half that -- at most.
no and rasho is not either
What do you mean? He has another year left on his contract and that is what he is owed for next season.
Making my point for me. Thanks. How is this any different than having Rasho's contract that expires at the same time and is actually a little less. Thomas is coming off the bench, not playing all that much, and does not play when teams go small. He is touted for his smarts, his defense, and his mid-range jump shot.
Are you sure? Hoopshype has him listed as an UFA next season.

Beat me to it.![]()
Sorry- you are both wrong. Kurt signed a four year $30M deal. It has one more year on it.
We've already gone over this countless times. Thomas' contract expires at the end of the season.
He signed that in March of '04. That's 04/05, 05/06, 06/07, and this season (07/08).
03/09/04: The Knicks signed Kurt Thomas to a 4 year, $30.9 million contract extension. He is now signed through the 2008-09 season.
No one can accuse ploto of not being stubborn.![]()
