nice sched to finish the year IMO.
Some good rest, and some good opponenets to keep the compe ive juices flowing.
Also big games there Phoenix and the Lakers.

Mon 14 @Sacramento
Wed 16 Utah
I'm feeling 6-2 to close out the year, with @Jazz and @Lakers being the best candidates for losses. I can see the Kings game a loss if the Lakers game goes down to the wire.
Still, only one back to back to close out the regular season. And two times they will have two days off before a game.

We are not losing to the Lakers.
Book it.
If they can lose to the Fizzlies, the team can beat these guys.![]()
If that's against the Nuggets it would be a good thing.![]()
If it's because the Spurs played bad and the other team played about as good as it could (see: 2003, 2005, 2007), then yeah it's a good thing. All those years it sort of woke the team up and got them really focused on the task at hand. Oh, and they all led to les![]()
No-one has mentioned the Suns, but I hope we can beat them and take some of their edge off. They and the Hornets are probably our toughest playoff matchups, although no-one wants to meet the Warriors either.
Losing the first game of the playoffs for the last 3 years running (and 4/5) has usually had to do with resting stars in the last week and the team looking rusty. I doubt that happens this year because we can't afford to rest the stars until, maybe, the last game.
I can see us losing at Utah...the rest of the games are winnable. LA is banged up. Phoenix will be tough, but we're at home for that one.
The Hornets concern me more. The Suns will be tough, no doubt, but their win came against a tired Spurs team. Nothing in that game gave me concerns about matchup problems. But the Hornets are a team that matches up well against the Spurs. They kinda remind me of the Mavs of '06 as far as that goes.
New Orleans i doub't gets out of the first round.
Fri 04 @Utah-L
Sun 06 @ Portland -W
Wed 09 Phoenix-W
Fri 11 Seattle-W
Sun 13 @LA Lakers -L
Mon 14 @Sacramento-W
Wed 16 Utah-it depends if we need to win this game or not.
We've lost game one of the first round every year we've won. Minny in 99, PHO in 03, and Denver in 05 and 07.
Spurs should be able beat the Lakers when they're missing Bynum, may be missing Gasol and have an injured DFish.
The Spurs won their first playoff game in 2006 -- by a huge margin (122-88). They also won their first playoff game in 2004, since they swept the Grizzlies in Round 1 that year. But you're right in the sense that they've lost their first playoff games in 2003, 2005, and 2007.
3 games ago, I told LJ that the Spurs weren't losing the rest of the way. I'm sticking to it.![]()
i know but it seems like the type of match we tend to lose in the regular season. playing away against a good team with a 2-1 lead in the head to head...i have a bad feeling 'bout that one. (besides gasol would likely play)
That sure as didn't work in 04...
Nice way to finish the season.. cant wait to see 2 more games live ;-)
The way this season has gone, about the only game I would count on as a sure W would be the Seattle game (*fingers crossed*).
Of course, if you want to be optimistic, you look at March in light of the crazy schedule the Spurs drew.
Finley's resurgence gives one hope, but for how long will that burn?
I think Blazers and Kings are the sleeper games. If Blazers have Roy, that's a badass team...they're going to be scary next year. LaMarcus Aldridge is like an athletic Rasheed Wallace without the 3pointer.
Pau's coming back this Wednesday, Bynum's coming back next week. Both should be there to play the Spurs game.
April 13th, clear everything off your schedule that day, get to your local bar...epic, epic game, WCF finals preview in my opinion. Whoever wins this one will probably take the #1 seed (I think the Hornets slip a little down to #3)
