Well it is looking like the Mavs will be in the 7th spot with 5 games to go. Do the Spurs try to avoid the 2 spot and let the Lakers have it? I don't think the Spurs can get the 1 spot.

The Spurs would kill the Rox in the first round from the 3 spot. So what is the fandom's feelings on this move?

Spurs will tank to avoid the Mavs...have no doubt Pop, Duncan, Parker and Flopnobli want no part of the Mavs...even if they suck this year

The Spurs should try to win all their games. Leave the micromanaging of playoff position to the pussy teams.

Bring it on... this is the matchup of choice for the Spurs now that the Mavs have no Harris or Diop.

LOL Harris and Diop....you mean an over-rate often injured PG and the worst offensive player in the league who grabs like 5 boards and has 1 block a game?

Another ignorant Spurs homer...I have no doubt the actual Spurs players and organization will avoid playing the Mavs like the plague

Yep, that's why you suck now.

It didn't take much, but it doesn't matter -- Mavs always choke in the playoffs.

i wish the spurs could play both the mavs and the rox in round 1, and eliminate them both in one fell sweep.

what if we do that and then we have to play game seven of the WCF in L.A?
The spurs should win every game they can.

the hornets look to stay at the #1 spot. if thats the case, and the lakers and spurs stay the 2nd and 3rd seeds (doesnt matter who has which), they will meet in the conference semis, not the WCF.

I don't know if Harris is overated or if Diop is the worst offensive player in the league. What i do know is that they were a pain in the ass for the spurs.

Dallas won't get out of the first round this year again, regardless of what top 4 team they play in the West.

I think they have a chance against Utah and New Orleans

I don't like the idea of playing the Mavs in the first round. However, if the alternative is playing the Suns in the first round and then not having HCA against the Lakers in the second round, I'll go with option A.

I dont think at this point it matters who you play in the first round. The team in the 8th spot could easily be in the 1 spot. You just play with the hand your dealt. They just need to worry about HCA.

Also, if the Spurs can't beat a Mavs team that they are better than without homecourt advantage, do they really even deserve to win the championship?

Every year bags like yourself come in here, talk a bunch of about what is going to happen, only to end up not just being wrong-but usually flaming out in spectacular fashion (i.e Golden State in the first round). Really, stay out of the prediction business...you aren't good at it.

Same here.. and I think the key to the Mavs-Spurs series will be the homecourt..

I have no doubt in my mind the Spurs would win this series... This matchup would be the best possible case scenerio at this point.

    I disagree.

Spurs Rockets would be the best.

The Spurs would win that series in 5 easily.

Then a second round matchup with the Mavericks or Lakers would be afoot.

    more than likely Lakers.
