Jeff McDonald: Ginobili expected to play
A sign that tonight's season finale against Utah remains significant for the Spurs: Manu Ginobili is expected to play.
Ginobili has missed the past three games with a strained groin, and coach Gregg Popovich vowed to play it safe with his leading scorer. The last thing he wanted was an injured Ginobili heading into the postseason.
After shootaround this morning, Popovich sent word through team spokesman Tom James that Ginobili is likely to give it a go.
We'd guess it didn't take too much convincing from Ginobili.
It's an important game for the Spurs. A victory would make the difference between opening the playoffs at home, or going on the road -- most likely against the Jazz or Suns.

Bring on the JAZZ.... its MANU TIME!!!
Barry and Manu are going to get big ovations tonight. It's Barry's first time to play a home game since the injury right?
time for the Mango trees....
Has he stated hes feeling fine?
A few more days off could do him good if hes not 100 percent recuperated.
He wanted to play the last 2 games.
Manu could be missing a leg and an arm and would still think he was ready to go.
Manu is ready. The Pop is wise.
Who Cares Manu Sucks No One Is Beating The Lakers Were To Good Kobe Is A God Down With The Spurs
That Is Really Easy Too Reed Thanks I Do Not No Watt I Wood Due Without Posts Like This Won It Rocks

Nice. Pop won't need that blood alcohol test after all.
The Spurs need to take care of business tonight and then get 'er rollin' for the playoffs.
I'm not convinced yet.
Pop might just have him available in case Rockets lose to Clips. (hope I'm kidding)
this has to be a put-on right?
No one could actually be this moronic, sheep-like, and illiterate, and be able to type on a keyboard without drooling all over it.
Spurs vs Suns in Round 1.
Excellent!
There's nothing about tanking that makes any sense to me and, in fact, it makes far more sense to play Game #82 all-out in my mind.
Win tonight, and the Spurs can at least have HCA over all but 2 teams in the West; lose tonight, and the Spurs will have HCA over only 3 teams in the West.
It makes no sense to intentionally play in a manner that will put your team in the most adverse cir stances for the longest period of time during the playoffs. Better to have HCA in Round 1, and at least have the possiblity of getting back at some point than to play poorly by intention and risk the chance that you'll never start at home.
If Manu is healthy, he should play and play a lot.
Win the game
hope the Suns win
hope the Clippers win
Play the Rockets in round 1![]()
Do your best
Don't sweat the rest
Let the winning take care of itself.
Great news
Let's kill the Jazz tonight
That's playing with fire...
