So who do you want Tony to guard in that case? Raja? Grant Hill. Think.
is there any reason other than just strategy that bruce bowen barely played yesterday? I think pop should have used him more to guard nash. Nash was rippin us in the overtimes could have used bruce's defense.

raja.

I think he did but the problem wasn't who was covering nash but who was covering the passes. I think Fin and Udoka had a great problem with this as the receiver was always getting the ball all the time. I think they need to look at this tomorrow.
All I know is someone on the Spurs bench needs to tell Bruce to stay in the ing corner and quit trying those lame ass running jumpers that he ALWAYS misses.
who did tony guard last year? We had bowen guarding nash all game. Think.
Bowen hasn't been very good, and provides NOTHING offensively, so why would Pop take Finley out?
When you're playing Oberto or Thomas and you have Bowen in there, the offense grinds to a halt. They need shooters and creators to match with the bigs and make PHO play defense. No Bowen on Nash also means Nash has to "guard" someone.
Bowen looked very, very out of sync for some reason the whole game. He came alive and came through with some great defensive plays on Nash though in OT when Parker fouled out.
Bowen's defense was average (for him), but more importantly on offense he was trying to drive to the basket and make runners and overdribbling a little bit. He passed up way too much on his corner 3's like he didn't have any confidence in them.
With that said, Pop took a gamble benching him for most of the game and the trusting him in OT to go back in and get the job done on Nash, which I think Bowen did.
I expect him to be a much bigger factor in Game 2.
I think its a matchup thing... Tony is just as effective on Nash as Bowen is. And we needed the offense yesterday.
I thought Parker played excellent defense on Nash yesterday. Bowen wouldn't have done any better, in my opinion.
Yea i kinda agree, but in some points it was a good choice the way it was.
And then they just start posting Raja up on the low block with Tony on him, we have to start doubling, they start hitting threes from outside...
tp did good job on nash
it took nash tell overtime to actually get going and tp had a big headache yesterday
newsflash to spur fan
tp actually is a good player
Bowen is being phased out
the Spurs have had trouble scoring this year, especially this year, so Bowen is only dragging the team down
He doesn't drag them down on defense...
Defense hasn't been the issue, it's the scoring
and the Spurs aren't on defense without Bowen
Bowen has his purpose on this team. With out a doubt the Bowen will see 40 minute games if and when we meet the Lakers (Kobe), New Orleans (CP3 + Pedrag), or Dallas (Josh Howard/ Dirk), and the Celtics (Ray or Pierce).
I do think Bowen is going to be phased out for a more rounded player in the future but not this year. Phoenix is just weak at the wing position, Hill just isn't an offensive juggernaut.
the spurs just can't afford the dip in scoring when bruce is on the floor. against most other teams, he'd be getting major PT. but against the suns, the spurs can't afford to have two offensive liabilities in the lineup or else they'll just get outscored. now, when amare or shaq are out of the game, bruce can still contribute.
Because preventing the other team from scoring < making a basket.
Congratulations, stick. You're George Karl!
