Uhh no and not really.
Duncan has gotten plenty of rest in response to his long summer. These short minutes appear to be hurting the continuity of his game. The season's halfway over. It's time for Pop to take him off of his leash and get him into playoff shape.
Uhh no and not really.
duncan is sick according to tp
What in the world? Is Tim on your Fantasy League team or something?
.....to rest.
^ AGREED... I mean why would you want him playing more. Hes not gona lose his skill, hes gona be well rested. And the team is succeeding right now.
Boggles my mind...
Duncan is play 34.8 mpg. Last season he was playing 36.6 mpg. Why are people dying over that 1.8 minutes?
-1.8 MPG, exactly!, how can that make any difference one way or the other?
But another way to look at it: 1.8 minutes x 40 games (so far) = 72 less minutes this year, which is, at his avg of about 35 MPG, saying that Tim's reduced time is the equivalent of 2 FEWER ENTIRE GAMES this season vs last season (by only mid-season).
Yes, that's a good thing. Why would you not want him more rested for the end of the season and into the postseason?
He played in the Olympics, he's been sick with the flu for a couples weeks. So with the Spurs having their best start in franchise history, what's the bad thing about having Tim a little more rested?
Tim getting his rest is no problem for me.
Tim playing but not aggressive/smart enough (hip, knee, flu, whatever) is a different problem. If his being banged up and sick is the cause of his somewhat under par play, I'd rather he get MORE rest.
Let the guy rest, also remember that inside guys like Tim take a lot more physical abuse during the course of a game than the backcourt guys. I have the strange feeling that he'll step up plenty when the post-season arrives.
I think Pop is doing just fine in giving Timmy his rest. Come May and June, we will be thankful
Can you imagine Tim calling in sick for work today...like some in here may do from time to time?![]()
let him rest up and let Horry play more. But give him some minutes.
I actually kind of agree with toosmallshoes. When is Duncan going to start playing more minutes? I don't want him to play over 40 minutes in a game for the first time in the playoffs. He needs to start building up his wind and getting used to playing 42+ minutes ... even if it's just here and there against the best teams in the league.
If he's sick (as reported) and banged up. Why would you increase his minutes now?
I'd wait until after the All-Star break.
Tim has quite a few 38-40 minute games:

... then look at against whom he has high minutes.
I'm not saying to increase his minutes right now. I just want to see him play more than 40 minutes before the playoffs come knocking. I feel that was one of the reasons why the Spurs lost last year. They were playing a lot of motion offense to end the regular season and into the Memphis series, but then they went against a team that didn't allow them to play their motion offense. Also, Duncan was forced to play more minutes and become the focal part of the offense ... and he didn't know what to do.
I don't want to see a repeat of that. Get Duncan minutes and run the offense through him in the coming months. Don't wait until the playoffs again.
has you back tracking, huh?

^^agreed. that is probably the best thing to do. especially because he wont be sick for much longer most likely.
I agree.
Rest continues until the beginning of March, the ratchet up the time.
Is he not in the MVP race this season? Is he not interested ?
..I just got the answer to a big question why Tim seems like having a "problem"...![]()
Tim is a pussy.
Real men play through kidney failure.
totally agree. Tim only needs more minutes in April, May and June.
Tim is only concerned with real MVP trophy...FINALS MVP
