Just read that Horry left the Clippers game with a dislocated knee. What's his status?

I think it's a patellar subluxation, which is a partial dislocation of the kneecap.

Doubt that a pad would have done anything to prevent it.

From my understanding, his kneecap slid out and slid back on it's own so it's not as bad as being dislocated. He could be out as much as 2 weeks though I really hope it's not that long!

It was in Yahoo's report on the game that I read it. Odd that the NBA's own game report didn't mention it...

This could be longer or shorter than 2w - too soon to say.

As a former physical therapy assistant, and now a physician (although ortho is not an area I work in today) these can be occasionally be serious injuries, despite the fact it slid back in and regardless of the severity. It is typically a painful injury (similar to a shoulder AP dislocation).

Most worrisome is that there are occassionally fractures of part of the patella (which is type of bone known as a sesmoid bone, also found in wrist) and/or damage to other knee ligaments from the force that caused the injury.

In men, these usually occur due to sports with varying degrees of severity, there is a related chronic condition in teenagers (usually females more common).

Probably onto an MRI tomorrow, unless they are sure it is a minor injury by exam.

Good web article on subject for those with medical background or interest at:

If Marks is ready, well see what hes got.

Supposedly though on the postgame show, Robert was walking around, gingerly, but he was walking around.

Horry has gotten hurt a lot lately. First he got hurt in the Utah game and did that Randy-Moss-Waive-For-The-Trainers-While-You-Are-On-The-Ground bit. Then he got hurt against the Lakers. Then against Washington he had to leave the game with some type of bruise. Now this.

He better get some health insurance or somethin'.

They didn't say much about it after the game. Just that he would be evaluated tomorrow.

I wonder what his predisposition to this kind of injury would be?

I ask because I have a "hypermobile patella" and can therefore basically dislocate my kneecap at will. For me it's not painful...but I can see how it could be for someone without my knee structure.

And I've always wondered if it is going to cause something worse as I get older.

Say Pop rests Robert on IR for 5 games, what are the chances that Sean could see some time? I really think the Spurs owe this guy, whom they love so much as practice meat and team player, a chance to get on the floor.

Well, Marks looked good in the olympics, but the olympics and the NBA are two whole different animals.

Id sit both Duncan AND Horry on the IR 2 games before the All Star break.

Give them both about two weeks of good solid rest.

I wanna see Malik get minutes like he did at the beginning of the season.

And he was playing very well then, too.

I've had that happen to me and it hurts like a mofo. I think I was on crutches for two weeks.
