"We feel like we've had the upper hand," said Suns coach Mike D'Antoni, who said the offense has been the team's larger issue. "We've got to play a little more carefree. We're a little tight right now."

D'Antoni is like a punch-drunk boxer. "I won every round. Until I got knocked out."

Will he ever admit that the Suns got outplayed, outhustled, outsmarted, outhearted and, above all, outcoached. The Suns do consistently outwhine everyone in the NBA, however.

I know all this has been said thousands of times before. But I could not resist an urge to say it again. God, how I hate the Suns.

    I feel better now.

Of course hes supposed to instill confidence and moral in his team. But he does it in such a way that its like patting them on the back for losing instead of getting tough with them and fixing their flaws.

"We feel like we have the upper hand" should be something like "We're going to work hard and have the upper hand in game 3 and go from there" Just a small change to make him not come off as a bag whos not aware of the precarious position his team is in. Just the way he phrases that makes him seem so arrogant about his coaching and team.

What have the Suns ever won? They are chronic underachievers and a loser organization. Of course they attract loser coaches and players. I'm so sick of the Suns. I can't wait until next weekend so we can start dissecting the Hornets matchups for the next round.

He reminds me of that guy who was telling all the iraqi people that the US wasn't invading the country and the video of it on tv was fake.

Allow me to argue for D'Antoni in one (and only one) respect:

His team is built around two atrocious defensive players - Nash and Stoudamire. Nash tries, but on defense he has slow feet. Stoudemire is too excitable on defense - there isn't a fake you can show him that he won't react to. Nash and Stoudemire spend a lot of time on the floor, which means that one-third of your teams playing minutes will be occupied by a turnstile and a fouling machine. Then the Suns traded one of their good defensive players (Marion) for a fat guy (Shaq) who will occasionally conjure his old self on blocked shots but more often just reaches right across the bodies of incoming guards - guards that have been escorted into the paint by #13. (And don't even bother asking Shaq to step out on screen rolls; No sir, the Big Whatever doesn't change his game. He's very adamant about that)

Now D'Antoni can either try to make chicken salad out of precious little chicken or play a style which maximizes the strengths of Nash and Stoudemire. In terms of matching style to personnel, MDA has done a good job.

I won't dare try to defend D'Antoni's ability to manage a game - who could? Every wrinkle his counterpart employs seems to come at a great surprise to him; the Suns are strangely unprepared in end-of-game situations; and of course, actually using the players paid by your franchise to play in basketball games (thus saving the regulars for precisely this time of the year) is out of the question to him. Mike D. seems to think that "Dance with who brung ya" means "Every minute of every song from the moment the dance hall opens to the second it closes."

Its not going to happen, but if the Suns get by the Spurs, they are not winning a le this year. Jazz, Hornets, Lakers, Celtics and Pistons would beat this team in a 7 game series.
