Hornets' Scott reportedly will be named NBA Coach of the Year
NEW ORLEANS (AP) -- New Orleans coach Byron Scott, who led the Hornets to their first playoff appearance in four years this season, has been chosen as the NBA Coach of the Year, The Associated Press has learned.
A person with knowledge of the award spoke with the AP on condition of anonymity because the league had not yet announced it.
New Orleans sent a media advisory Monday afternoon, saying it planned a "major announcement" at 10 a.m. Tuesday following the Hornets' gameday shootaround.
Scott is expected to receive the award Tuesday before the Hornets host the Dallas Mavericks in Game 5 of their first-round playoff series.
Eh Why is Popovich not getting this award?
Pop won't get an regular season award for taking the regular season off.
Well Deserved! Congratulations B.Scott. You've made Inglewood, Ca Proud!![]()
Maurice Cheeks > Scott.
In terms of this award IMO.
Given the compe ion in the W.C. this year, I think Scott is more than deserving.
Maruice did a fantastic job molding together a compe ive team from scatch. Philadelphia should have a fantastic year in 2008-2009. Maybe not an elite team, but a similar status to Orlando and Toronto.
