    Trent Lott is a strong support of Dr. Rice and Strom Thurmond is dead but, in all likelihood, would have been too.

    I don't believe either Lott is, or Thurmond (at the end of his life) was, a racist. Is that clear enough? "Sheets" can give no other explanation for his obstruction of Dr. Rice's confirmation and, in fact, has never renounced his KKK past...except for expressing regret on how it has tarnished his political life.

    I believe Trott's comments were racist and Thurmond may have changed his ways as I'm sure Byrd may have.
    Rice WILL be confirmed it is just the process that is the duty of Democrats to do.
    Republicans, and libertarians if they had the chance, do the same.

    once a racist, always a racist.. you don't just change your beliefs from one day to the next on this type of thing. you only choose to suppress your true feelings in public for political gain.
