Last summer everyone hated Kobes ass in LA......now he is the black mamba!!LA fans.

I'm all for giving the Lakers props. They definitely had the more well rounded team. That being said, Pop has been pretty good with the media recently and I think it's cuz he knew awhile back that after West 'handed' his protege an All Star in the middle of the season, there wasn't much he could do at the time (although I would've loved to see how Artest could've worked out in SA). Laker fans can skew it however they want but fact is they gave up virtually nothing to acquire a great player. Pop will re-load. Spurs till I die. Kobe is the greatest all around talent in the NBA. He's also a funny pansy who cares what everybody thinks about him, it's almost laughable what kind of a wuss he is off the court.

I refuse to watch the NBA finals now because of KoMe Bryant.
Exactly. It is pathetic.
ok.
The acquisition "price" isn't the whole story. Memphis didn't even shop Gasol around to see if they could get a better deal elsewhere. They could have, of course, since all they got was an expiring contract and draft picks. , even the picks would be worth more coming from many other teams, since they would come earlier in the round.
To me, nothing is as su ious as the fact that Memphis didn't even try to get the most out of a player of Gasol's caliber. How many skilled big men are there in the league? They had to know that there would be a lot of interest. They had obviously given up on their season, in favor of re-building, so they didn't have to be in a hurry, did they? Why would they not try to get the most re-building value?
I thought the irony of Jerry West handing out the trophy was too much to stomach.
The griz got what they wanted for gasol... which was a young player, cap space and pics!
WHAT A BUNCH OF LITTLE BLEEDING S!
Lakers Baby!![]()
I like that. They thought about it and said, "Sure we could get more. But this is really all we want. Why put up with all the hassle of negotiating?"
I won't watch because I lose the want for watching basketball after the Spurs are out. If the Celtics win I will definately not want to watch, because of all the slobbering that will take place...
poor effort
Yep, indisputable that the Gasol Trade was unfair. It was a slap in the face to every other organization who has to draft smart, develop young players, sign free-agents, and make real trades to create le contenders over long periods of time. Lakers cut... like a team with 8 championships really needs any favors from anyone![]()
You think this is worse than Minnesota turning down a more favorable offer from the Lakers for Kevin Garnett and instead dealing him to Boston only because McHale and Ainge were teammates?
I just wonder who actually made the "trade". West or Stern?
Stern desperately needed LA to be a factor again. Now, he has what he wanted all along. Get rid of the boring, rating killer Spurs for the Showbe show. I won't be watching.![]()
dumbass do you know who Al Jefferson is? He's the dude that's gonna be abusing Bynum and Gaysol next year. Minnesota got equeal value for Garnett. Boston didnt have a team after they traded for garnett, they gave everyone away, all they had left was rondo, pierce and allen. Dont be stupid. That trade makes sense, Lakers trade DOESNT -AT ALL
I don't believe the West conspiracy theory. Jerry West has never acted with anything but integrity in his career.
I could believe that the same GM who thought it was a good idea to sign Vin Baker to a big contract after his alcoholism became known, might also think it a good idea to dump an All-Star caliber power forward for nothing but cap space and a lousy draft pick. Chris Wallace has a track record of making decisions so stupid that small children shake their heads, decision that lay waste franchises for years.
I believe that an owner in over his head might have realized that even after opening a state-of-the-art new arena, his team still finds itself in a city far too small to survive long-term, with a team so lousy that little hope remains of sparking civic interest anytime soon, and therefore might have panicked and ordered his incompetent GM to dump his high-priced power forward for whatever he could get, only to be mortified when the incompetent GM took that so literally as to make the most one-sided trade in recent NBA history.
Really? Do you live in L.A.? Your claim is simply untrue. No one wanted him to leave.
I don't mind Kobe.
I don't want to watch the Finals because of Sasha and Turiaf
*purs fans have overtaken Kings and Suns fans as the whiniest, iest, saddest fan base in all of sports. That just doesn't happen overnight, either. You worked hard for it.
This kind of transaction is not uncommon. A few years ago, the Boston Bruins traded the LEAGUE MVP Joe Thornton to the San Jose Sharks for some expiring contracts. None of the players the B's received are on the team any more. And Boston didn't contact any other team before making the deal.
Funny, that's how Kobe and Fisher cried when we kicked your asses in 2003.
What would the Spurs have offered? They had nothing but old guys with expring contracts. Stop whining.
Jealous much?
