The Chicago Cubs are the best team in baseball right now and from looking at some rankings and how I feel about things, the NL is looking stronger than the AL for once.

Here are some good rankings I found on Sportsomniac

    1. Cubs
    2. Phillies
    3. Cardinals
    4. Red Sox
    5. Angels
    6. Rays
    7. Diamondbacks
    8. White Sox
    9. Marlins
    10. Blue Jays

    There's also a bottom 5

Anyone else want to post their rankings?

This is the 100 year anniversary for the Cubs. The curse is dead. Cubbies will win the WS this year.

I honestly love you Cubbies from the NL, but this is setting up to be a disaster. I really wish they would win and beat the curse of the goat finally. Honestly, this can't be good, its just bound to end in a heartache. I'm not even hating on them either.

I was born in Chicago, going to Wrigley is one of my first memories and I've rooted for the Cubs my entire life. They look great this year, but I'll never proclaim anything about their chances to win the world series. Setting yourself up like that is how inevitable pain becomes even worse.

This year does seem to be different. They're winning by huge margins, and winning close games. They're coming back, and maintaining the leads they have. They are hitting homers and manufacturing runs when they need to.

Most importantly, they have a group of guys who seem to care about seeing the blue W fly over Wrigley at the end of the day. They have a great rookie catcher who's full of confidence, a very good pitching staff, and (something that's been very scarce in Wrigley) a well-rounded, very good defensive team. There are really no holes in our defense aside from perhaps Soriano, and he can make some pretty amazing plays if given the chance.

Toss in a few utility players and you have a team that can beat anyone. They might not win the WS this year, but if they make it there, it will not be from a fluke. The Cubs are for real.

Be scared. Be very scared. If I am reading the Revelation of St. John correctly, that is another sign of the breaking of the fourth seal.

The irony is that I followed the Cubs from the early '80s until 2005. One day, I just snapped. It was a case of, "I'm tired of the Tribune Co. pissing down my neck and telling me it's raining." Call me fairweather or whatever (yeah right), but I just got to the point that I hated where the organization was going. The Sosa years were just terrible. After Sandberg and Grace left, most of the players didn't give a .

Anyone who has watched a lot of Cubs games during the last decade or so might qualify that last statement, but I doubt you will find too many people who will argue it outright, unless they have a rectum full of Cubby Blue Sunshine.
