The Finals schedule was determined way back at the beginning of the Playoffs no matter what team won. They say you want to still be playing in June, because that's typically when the Finals are played.
Nothing unusual really except the Lakers finished in 5. If the Spurs/Lakers went to Game 7, it would have been played yesterday with 2 full days rest (Tues/Weds) before the Finals begin Thursday. The Finals are always a drawn out affair to make the most money and hype as possible.
