    IMO, it is Gasol.

Last game, it was especially obvious.

Gasol didn't guard the rim. Left, PJ Brown for a dunk. He didn't cut off or stop Pierce on Screens.

He laid the ball up instead of going strong.

    He threw the ball away.

He rotated late (Ray Allen's reverse lay-up among other things).

Gasol was the soft Euro we always knew.

Yeah, Jackson was horrible as a coach, unable to draw up something where the team actually could get good shots up.

But the main problem was Gasol.

Please post who you think (if you absolutely had to pick one player) who was the main culprit for the Lakers loss in the Finals.

    1. Gasol
    2. Phil Jackson
    3. Jordan Farmer
    4. Radmonovic
    5. Odom
    6. Sasha
    7. Other

I actually wanted the Lakers to win the series, and certainly game 4.

I actually like Kobe as a person and he is the best player in the NBA.

But this looks next to impossible.

Some of the rotations....keeping Ronny and Farmar in the game too much as they were starting to lose the lead.

I put this more on Phil Jackson.

he shouldve figured out ways to win this series by making adjustments.

Actually, there shouldn't be any pointing of the fingers at anyone. The Lakers weren't even expected to make the Finals, so they're not even the favorites in this series by a long shot. I said Boston in 5. Looks like that will happen.

One of the few times I actually agree with you. Too much was made of BOS not being able to close out ATL and CLE early. They eventually found their groove in the DET series and are now playing at the level they were in the regular season. Ray Allen, especially, is having an amazing series so far.

LAL has probably slightly overachieved to get to this point IMHO. It's a great stepping stone for next season when they can add some more pieces to help out the weak interior defense. Plus, there is no subs ute for experience and all of the Laker youngins are getting a healthy dose of that right now. If BOS wins it's because they absolutely deserved to and were hands down the best team in the league from start to finish. I actually don't have a problem with KG, PP, and RA all finally getting a ring at the tail end of their careers. It just seems like it's their year to win IMHO.

Besides nothing would be sweeter than LAL coming back next season and knocking BOS out in a 4-0 sweep.

No he didn't. Gasol is perhaps one of the most underrated man defenders in the league. He has done an acceptable job on Boozer, Duncan, and KG. Perhaps the 3 best PF's in the game today.

I don't know why people think the Lakers weren't supposed to be in the Finals this year. Maybe no one predicted them to make it this far in November, but they had the #1 seed in the West before Jerry West gave them the belated Christmas gift now known as the Gasol trade. The WC was tight this year but they had the best record, and I don't get how a #1 seed making the Finals is any kind of shocker.

Boston on the other hand was built to win now. That was their goal from day 1. I really hated them in the regular season because they were so good but especially after that comeback the other night, they deserve to win the Finals. The Celtics have worked hard all year and it certainly looks like it will pay off for them.

I do think this Lakers team is overrated, and they wouldn't have beat a healthy Spurs team but you can't blame injuries or the no-call at the end of Game 3. It sucks that that happened, but it was only one game. It's kind of similar to Phoenix last year. They got screwed with the suspensions, but you still have to win four games. Anyway, these Lakers were heavily favored over Boston at the beginning of the series and I think it had a lot to do with how easily they appeared to beat the Spurs, but anyone with a brain can see that they got lucky by catching the Spurs at the right time. Luck, not skill, won them the WCF.

Shooters weren't hitting their outside shots, so Jackson doubled hard

Game 1, no double most of the game, he laid 30 and 18 on him. Game 2, doubles and triples everywhere, only plays 32 mins, ends with 12 and 16. Game 3, 22 and 21. Game 4, 29 and 17. Game 5, 19 and 15.

Tims worst games were roughly better than Pau's typical avg. numbers. If they ever let Pau guard Tim strait up, he'd eat for thirty every night. They did nothing but crowd him after a while. Why did you think N.O doubled him all the time? Reason said, we aren't going to allow our guys to get embarassed. Believe me, Pau can't guard Tim. The defensive pattern showed it. If you watch the footage, Tim guarded Pau strait up alot of the time and the results were decent. Honestly, Tim got alot of his numbers from strait post ups. Pau, gets his alot from the workings off the offense (This year). Tim always eats against Pau. (See old Memphis match ups, they doubled him the same there.)

    Pau's numbers:
    Game 1, 19 and 7. Game 2, 10 and 7. Game 3, 15 and 5. Game 4, 10 and 10. Game 5, 12 and 19.

Naw, it all starts in the middle. That has been the Lakers biggest weakness that will lose this series if they're not able to turn it around. The Celtics have manhandled Gasol! The fact that the lakers can't go to the post is the biggest difference in this series. Gasol has turned into Kwame Brown on Offense and Dirk (old Dirk, he's better now) on defense; Avoiding contact at every opportunity. The center position has been the lakers biggest weakness. Lamar not showing up? Sucks and a big factor but he's the third option. The 2nd option is playing scared straight.

Gasol can not guard Duncan one on one. Phill Jackson did what he has always done against Duncan which is double and tripple team the out of him and hope the perimeter players can't make shots. Unfortunately Manu was hurt and couldn't take advantage of this the same with Parker is true now to from what we hear about his calf. Look at what Jackson is doing with Garnett the last few games. He's been doubling him everytime he catches the ball with Odom and Gasol but its not working because guys like Pierce and Allen continously slap them whenever they get airspace to get off a shot.
