Ask me again when the offseason is over
ing stupid. Preseason hasn't even arrived yet so where do these odds come from? Ignorant.
premature ejacualtion thread... coming from yahoo! nonetheless.
I agree that it is VERY, VERY, VERY premature (considering that we have yet to see who teams are going to draft or what offseason moves will be made) - but gambling is a 24/7/365 business. I saw the news and thought that it would be interesting to share, so please don't shoot the messenger.
It's actually according to Bodog Entertainment, which is one of the premiere online gambling sites.
that explains it.
You can get a bet down now at 8-1 in Vegas. The odds will change as events occur.
Lakers are the good play here.
It might be worth it to put $200 on one of the 1/100 teams.
I would like to put a C note on the Blazers at 25 to 1.
Somebody prolly did that with the Celts last year. Wonder how much that person made?
I bet last year at this time the Celtices were 100-1 winning the whole thing and the Lakers were 50-1. Its called filler. Everyone knows it amounts to nothing!
This is so stupid.
I bet Boston wasn't on that list to win last year.
No one knows what trades are gonna happen, and what draft picks are gonna bring.
No one knows the future. This is is dumb.
The point is that people are already putting down money for next year's NBA champion and they had to have odds to go along with that. You're right, Boston was probably WAY down the list last year - but that just means that whoever betted at that time GOT PAID! As someone in this thread stated, the odds will move and be adjusted throughout the year - this is but a snapshot.
Who does Tim Donaghy like?
Actually the site that this information in the original post came from listed the Celtics as the favorites (albeit after the trade) at 6/5 odds. That is UNHEARD of! So unless people placed big bets before the trades, I guess they didn't get paid. The Lakers actually had 10/1 odds of winning the Championship and 4/1 of winning the Western Conference - so they were pretty accurate on this one as well.

that's why it called GAMBLING
we would definitely have to make some changes during the offseason for that 8-1 be anywhere near accurate....i hate to admit it, but if we go with the same team next year, and make very few offseason moves, then that 8-1 would be more accurate at 25-1
I disagree. We were arguably a healthy Ginobili away from playing in the Finals. I agree that we need "some changes", but only minor ones to compete for the le in '09. Now we need some significant moves to keep up the trend for the next 4-5 years, but we are a few role players away from returning to the big stage. Who would you rank ahead of the Spurs for chances to win the le next year at the this exact point in time? I can see an argument for Boston and L.A., but I would place us right there with them.
No, it is just a snapshot of the odds AT THIS EXACT MOMENT. The odds are very fluid and will change on a weekly (maybe even daily) basis. You will see the odds adjusted once the draft is completed and again after significant offseason moves are made, but at the current time this is what the odds would be if you were to drive to Vegas and throw money down to bet for next season's Championship.
Those are odds are assuming every team stays intact from now until the beginning of the season?
Are you being sarcastic or just absurd?
I'm going to wait to see how David Stern bets.
