Umm, no, he would NOT be a "great" backup PG for us. He regressed as a sop re, is unathletic, a defensive liability, a poor percentage shooter, and somehow has morphed into a shoot-first PG. There's a reason the Nets are shopping him.
The Nets are shopping Marcus Williams. He would be a great backup pg for the spurs and fill a hole that the spurs have tried to fill for a few years now.

The line in the OP about filling a hole reminded me of a page from a comic wherein Power Girl (who has, as readers put it, "epic boobs", and a revealing outfit showing a lot of cleavage, roughly where the S on Superman's outfit would be) tearfully implores the Man of Steel to, "fill my hole, Superman."
