No, Shaub went Shaub on you guys. Romo would of won that game. He MAYBE would of thrown an extra pick, but he would of thrown 2 more TD passes than Shaub.
Texans need to spend a high pick on a QB next year, cause Shaub has shown me nothing.

Shaub isnt GREAT but he is mid level and get the job done. We still need a LOT of help on Def and that still remains an off season priority. We need another DT that is worth a damn. Saftey and CB help is a must. Plus we have been horrible in the red zone in our entire existance, we lost 2 games because of this, this season so I think we might be looking for a power back that can punch it in and get us 5 yards. I hate to say this but damn Dayne would have been nice this past sunday and against Jax.

I don't know, I stopped believing in Shaub last season. And mid level is not going to win you a lot of games unless you have a pretty stout D.
He lost that game yesterday with that pick 6 and missed, easy, td pass.

Schaub was the reason they didn't get the W. I hate to say it but Kubiak and Rick Smith need to go. They have ignored some of the most glaring holes in this team. I think this team can turn it around and still go 9-7 but as in the past all the wins will be at the end of the season when the playoffs are out of the picture.
EricB
10-13-2009, 12:29 AM
Calling for Kubiak to be fired is retarded.
The Texan's D in that second half SHUT THEM DOWN. I mean it was fantastic to watch.
They are close. Long season, keep chipping away.

I don't think a mid-season firing is in order, however, I do believe that he doesn't have this team prepared to play week in and week out. He doesn't seem to have the appropriate fire and toughness that a young team needs. If they do go 8-8 or 7-9 this season, they do need to go in a different coaching direction.

Yup, laugh it up because you are incapable of deciphering the reasons for a football team winning or losing a game. But thats okay, I don't want to talk above your head, but Romo has a playmaking ability that Shaub has never and will never posess...We don't know if Romo will deliver a championship, but before that can even be debated the Cowboys need to fix themselves(by hiring a competent coaching staff to start off with). And before you start with the tired and worn out "you are a homer" rant, I do criticize Romo when needed. I just refuse to get into an argument about him with someone(like you) who is just a hater. No point in doing so because you will not be objective. Your jealousy won't let you.
Now the Texans run a pretty effeciant offense, and I give Kyle Shannahan alot of credit, I really like what he is doing there. But from what I've seen, alot of the times, the offense fails to deliver because of Shaub and Im tired of it. Last weekend was a great example. The pick 6 he threw, and then totally fucking up on that easy TD pass. Shaub needs to go, if you can't see that, well then I can't stop, nay, I won't stop you from sucking his gouch'n balls. I don't know, maybe you like his new goatee or something...

So when the Cowboys lose it's because of the rest of the team, not Romo, despite his many INTS and fumbles this season, but when the Texans lose it's all because of Schaub. The poor defense and poor play calls have nothing to do with it because it's Houston.

The only reason the Texans have been able to move the ball at all this year is because of Schaub and the passing game. This running game sucks and can't even get a half yard when the game is on the line, and it's the second time it's cost them a win.

Schaub is a more accurate passer, has more yards passing, has thrown more TD passes, has less turnovers, and has a higher QB rating.

I know.....We can attribute the piss poor defense of the Texans in the second half to: Slaton's fumble which gave S.F. more momentum, switching QB's midgame, which they should have been prepared for, and just dumb playcalling....I hope Andre is all right though

Texans' Johnson suffers chest injury vs. 49ers
By JOHN McCLAIN
Copyright 2009 Houston Chronicle
Texans receiver Andre Johnson left Sunday’s 24-21 victory over San Francisco with a chest injury but should be ready to play in the next game at Buffalo.
Johnson, who was injured in the fourth quarter, was taken to the hospital for X-rays before returning to Reliant Stadium to shower and dress after the Texans’ second consecutive victory.
“They’re telling me it’s a chest contusion,” coach Gary Kubiak said.
Kubiak will have an update on Johnson at his regular Monday afternoon news conference.
Johnson was injured when he caught a 44-yard pass on what proved to be the winning field goal drive. He fell on the ball, coughed up some blood and went to the sideline.
Johnson returned briefly, but when he tried to return a second time, some members of the team’s medical staff hid his helmet to keep him on the sideline rather than risk further injury.
Johnson’s catch down the middle gave the Texans the ball at San Francisco’s 41-yard line. Kris Brown finished the drive with a 50-yard field goal.

Nice win by the Texans. Sorry about Johnson, he's one of my fave receivers. Schaub is solid and your D is probably good enough to get you guys to the playoffs. Also impressed with your tight end. Good luck the rest of the year.
I'm really up in the air about San Fran. They're starting to look like a Jekyll & Hyde team. Who the fuck was that guy out there with Smith on the back of his uniform?! Gore looked rusty, but the niners got another good performance from VDavis. Too inconsistent, and with the improvement of Arizona I'm not feeling so great about a playoff run for SF anymore.
Like I said, nice win, and Fuck the Cowboys!

5 out of the 9 we SHOULD win. Bills, Titans, Jax, Seattle, and Rams. If we could steal one from either the Colts and the Dolphin game we might sneak into playoffs. OR if we need one game that Pats game might be within reach having it being late in the season and they might not play all of the starters.

Johnson day-to-day with lung contusion
http://www.houstontexans.com/news/Story.asp?story_id=5734
Coach Gary Kubiakhttp://assets.houstontexans.com/images/relatedicon.gif (http://www.houstontexans.com/news/Story.asp?story_id=5734#) announced Monday at his weekly press conference that wide receiver Andre Johnsonhttp://assets.houstontexans.com/images/relatedicon.gif (http://www.houstontexans.com/news/Story.asp?story_id=5734#) could return to the field this week against the Buffalo Bills after suffering a serious injury against the San Francisco 49ers.
"He has a lung contusion," Kubiak said. "(Team doctors) feel good about it. They feel like he's going to be fine. I think, obviously, he's going to be day-to-day as we go into this week. They'll do some tests on him each day as we go through this week, but I think we're fortunate here and hopefully he'll be ready to go against Buffalo. But he'll be day-to-day."
Johnson suffered the injury after being hit in his lower back on his first catch of the game, an 18-yard reception with 13:36 left before halftime.
Throughout the remainder of the game, Johnson had difficulty catching his breath. In the fourth quarter, Johnson left the game briefly before returning to the field.
Eventually, a member of the Texans hid Johnson's helmet to avoid him re-entering the game and jeopardizing his health for the sake of the team.
"Well, that's him," Kubiak said of Johnson. "He wants to do whatever he can do to help this team win, and yesterday was a struggle getting him the ball. He had two plays that were both big plays. But Andre will give you everything he's got, and you all know that. He knows this team needed a couple more plays to win and he was willing to go make them."
Johnson will undergo tests each day this week to monitor his blood work and help determine his status for Week 8 at Ralph Wilson Stadium.
With 38 catches for 634 yards (16.7 avg.) and four touchdowns this season, Johnson ranks first in the NFL in receiving yardage and is tied for first with four catches of 40 yards or more. The three-time Pro Bowler is coming off his best season as a pro, when he led the NFL in catches (115) and receiving yards (1,575) in 2008.

Yeah the tuesdays off sounds right cause usually after a team wins the coach after giving the game ball out usually gives the "TUESDAY OFF" and that draws the biggest cheer.

http://espn.go.com/blog/afcsouth/post/_/id/5296/pollard-a-big-piece-of-texans-improving-d
Posted by ESPN.com’s Paul Kuharsky
Since Gary Kubiak became head coach of the Houston Texans (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=hou) in 2006, he’s deployed seven different starting strong safeties.
A secondary in need of a steady physical presence didn’t get great consistency out of Glenn Earl (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=5647), Jason Simmons (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=1531), C.C. Brown (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=8602), Brandon Harrison (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=10587), Nick Ferguson (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=2509), Dominique Barber (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=11407) or John Busing (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=9896). Injuries prompted some of the changes.
But in Bernard Pollard (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=9640), whose insertion into the lineup has coincided with improved defensive play, perhaps Kubiak and the Texans finally have found their man.
In October, the Texans were the fifth-best defense in the league based on yardage surrendered, and 10th in scoring defense. The defensive improvements from the first three games to the last five are remarkable, as you can see in this handy chart the team provided.
Houston's defensive improvement, 2009 Category First 3 games Last 5 games Difference Rush yards/game 205.0* 58.2** -146.8 Pass yards/game 231.7 202.2 -29.5 Total yards/game 436.7* 260.4 -176.3 Points per game 28.7 16.4 -12.3 * Worst in the NFL.
** Best in the NFL.
Houston's defensive improvement, 2009
All these defensive developments are wonderful for a team with the third-ranked passing game and eighth-ranked offense. Defensive consistency is a major boon for any team keyed around a potent and efficient passing attack.
What has Pollard brought?
“I take pride with my tackling, I take pride in being in the right places,” he said. “I watch games around the league and you see guys get interceptions. I wish that could happen with me. But I don’t have time to try to bait quarterbacks, because when you try to bait, things happen. Some guys get away with it.
“I’m not that player. I am a player if you expect me to be wherever on the field, that’s where I am going to be. If that makes the quarterback go to another read, then that’s going to be a coverage sack or he’s going to go somewhere else. But I take pride in tackling, I take pride in coming in with high intensity and trying to get my teammates around me to get pumped up.”
Pollard was initially a 2006 second-round pick by the Kansas City Chiefs (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=kan) out of Purdue, selected 54th overall. In 2008, he delivered the hit that ended Tom Brady's season, carrying himself with grace after the accident.
The Chiefs’ new regime made him part of its roster turnover and released him on Sept. 5. But David Gibbs, the Texans' new defensive backs coach, had come to Houston from K.C. He helped facilitate adding Pollard to Houston’s roster.
Pollard has not solved the Texans' troubles by himself. He has been a positive influence in exemplifying the theme that’s so popular around the league: Do your job while trusting that the guy to your right, to your left, in front of you, and behind you will do his. He said he’s seen that trust grow, and with success comes additional confidence.
Now he will try to help slow Peyton Manning (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=1428) and the Indianapolis Colts (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=ind)' offense Sunday at Lucas Oil Stadium in a game that’s fair to rate as the biggest in the Texans’ history.
A win would put the Texans at 6-3, three games over .500 for the first time ever. A victory will keep them in range of the AFC South-leading Colts, who would be 7-1. A rematch at Reliant Stadium on Nov. 19 looms.
One of Manning’s biggest weapons, tight end Dallas Clark (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=4482), said the Texans' defense starts up front, but that Pollard’s on his radar.
“Their two ends [Mario Williams (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=9587) and Antonio Smith (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=5660)] and their linebackers, that's the strength of their defense,” Clark said. “The safeties and the corners, a lot of the things they do is because of the pressure and [the ends] getting the quarterbacks to make bad decisions. Still, they're there to make the play, which is what their defense needs. But I think everything they do well starts up front …
“[Pollard] is a big safety. He's a guy who loves to hit and loves to make plays. As a receiver, you have to make sure you know where he is.”
Tackling was a major issue early this season, when, for example, Tennessee Titans (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=ten) halfback Chris Johnson (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=11258) accounted for 284 yards against Houston. Sixty-nine of them came when he lined up wide to the left uncovered. Kerry Collins (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=734) got the ball to him immediately, and the Texans didn’t even have a chance to miss tackles. It was Barber’s mistake, and he was benched for it with Busing replacing him.
Now concerns over such matters are much smaller.
“He’s done a nice job of coming in and kind of taking up what we are teaching, our concepts, our program,” Texans defensive coordinator Frank Bush said of Pollard. “He’s brought a physical presence to us first of all. The kid’s a big [6-foot-1, 224 pounds] and physical football player, he enjoys the contact. He seeks it. He’s the most physical presence in that secondary and all the guys try to emulate what he’s doing.”
“He’s smart, he takes good angles to the ball, he tries to keep himself out of harm’s way as far as angles on running backs and then he brings a load to the party when he hits you.”
That’s a pretty good addition when you sign a guy after the season’s under way and he quickly becomes a player others are looking to follow. Bush was surprised to get such a quality player at such a time.
Pollard appears to be a solution at what has been a questionable spot.
“He’s kind of shored it up for us and let us feel confident about what we want to call. He’ll go out and execute our program,” Bush said.
After being part of two miserable seasons (http://espn.go.com/blog/afcsouth/post/_/id/5270/column-preview-pollard-loves-texans-vibe) in Kansas City where the Chiefs were 6-26, Pollard said he’s thrilled to be on a 5-3 team that’s got reasonable expectations of a playoff berth.
But he’s not yet sure he’s a long-term answer for a team who’s been searching for a solution at his spot.
“I hope I ended it,” he said. “Nothing’s settled until you actually sign a long-term deal and you know you are in this city for a certain amount of time. So no player gets that gratification until it’s actually done. I am very happy with what I am doing, where I am. And I hope that I prove myself. It’s still a long season and things can happen.
“Do I look for them to happen? No. I’m going to prepare myself to bring my A-game and to get my teammates, and for them to get me, hyped as can be to play football at a high level every Sunday from here on out.”

Running back Ryan Moats will start for the Houston Texans, coach Gary Kubiak told ESPN's Bob Holtzman on Saturday.
The Texans play at the Colts at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
Steve Slaton, who fumbled on his only carry in the Texans' win over Buffalo last week, will share carries with Moats.
Moats took over against the Bills with 23 carries for 126 yards. He also became the first player in Texans' history to rush for three touchdowns in a game.
Slaton, who has 342 yards and two touchdowns for the Texans this season, has fumbled seven times, losing five.

A Peyton Manning jersey brings one an astronomical level of Karma. Sporting one automatically adds 5 inches to your dick, makes you bullet proof, more attractive to the ladies, and just makes you an all around winner.

This is true.
Houston just poured millions into upgrades that he asked for in the Astrodome (upgrades that are still being payed off). Then, when other teams starting getting new stadiums a few years later, he wanted one and tried to make it to where the Rockets could play in it, too. Not happening.
But, Houston needs a new coach. Gary Kubiak outsmarted himself. The NFL Network reported that Bill Cowher named the Bears and Texans as two teams that would "excite him". McNair....make it happen.

That said, I'm still probably going to need to separate myself from this team and probably pro football for a few weeks. I am old enough to remember clearly the pain inflicted in the 90's by the Oilers(the comeback at Buffalo in '92, followed up by the 11 straight wins in '93 only to watch Joe Montana and Marcus Allen make that streak look meaningless), and right now it's starting to feel that way again...that so close but so far away feeling. I'd compare it to a marriage that is turmoil and the best solution for saving it is for both people to get away from each other for a while.

Whatever. I never said I stopped supporting the the team and I never will. I just said I needed a break. The disappointment gets old.
What's left to watch anyway? This team is good enough to be a playoff team but once again they are not going to be there. I've watched them religiously over the past 8 seasons. Watched them pick lousy management and replace them. Watched them pick lousy players and replace them. Watched them finally find the right mix of players/management and watched that mix develop into a pretty damn good football team. I also watched them...in typical Houston football fashion...shit the bed three weeks in a row.
It would be different if this was the early years, because they are building a team and tough losses are to be expected. Now things have changed. They are a good team...probably better then the team just a few hundred miles northwest. But once again, we are in the 90's...and the football franchise in Houston is good enough to make noise but chooses not to.
I may or may not watch the last couple of games. If the networks around here are true to form they probably won't show them anyway as Houston is out of contention for the playoffs. Like I said originally...it's like a marriage that you work your ass off to make work but it just keeps going further south. Sometimes the best solution is time away.

Lmao. When has their been fair weather in Houston for football? I've spent most of my 20's and the first part of my 30's following a team that is terrible. You just owned yourself on that one.
Your Duncan retiring comparison fails also. Just like with my Houston team, I know that there is going to be a transition period after he goes. If anything, my football team has prepared me for this time. I'll be here supporting the Spurs after he goes, just like I have continued to support the Oilers/Texans for more than half my life despite the struggles and disappointments.
As for you...you are probably no younger than 18 and no older than 25...which means you have spent a decade following the two of the best teams in their respective sports. Someone with so little knowledge of struggle has very little room to judge. Fair weather accusations? Look in the mirror bud.

I've gone through the Spurs struggles in the 90's and the heart break. I was a fan then as I am now. I bet during the Robinson era you gave up on the Spurs only to recalim them as your team once Duncan arrived and deliverd a championship(as you have proven to be that kind of "fan") I've also gone through the stuggles of the Colts in Manning's early years and the heartbreak losing. But I was still there as a fan as I am now.
Now YOU, fag...you have proven that you give up on the teams you follow. It is logical to presume that you will do the same thing with the Spurs. Sure, you'll be gung ho at first, once Duncan retires, saying "Tony Parker will lead us to another Championship!" But a year later you will give up on the Spurs, just as you have given up on the texans. History repeats itself. Your a douche, not a fan of sports teams.

haha I actually agree with the troll.
I still watch 95% of Astros games. They suck hard and I haven't given up on them.

AS you know im the same as you. I still watch even when they suck. They are my team and I stand by that through good times and bad. Same as the Texans, same as the Spurs, same as the Horns. Luckily I have the horns in college fb, basketball, and baseball. Spurs are declining and the best is behind us. The stros are trying to fix that clusterfuck that is our team, and the Texans are hopefull and trying to get past the hump. None of us realistically knew we could even do anything in playoffs especially when we cant close out a game when the going gets tough. We have shown signs of our talent but our youth has shined though.

Butthurt that my team is better than yours huh?
Typical of you to be jealous.
Your post above exeplifies how much of a shitty so called "fan" you are. "I need a break, wah, wah, wah." What a pussy. "I need time away"
I bet once Duncan retires, you'll take a "break" from the Spurs too huh?
Bottom line is this. You are NOT a real texan fan, and you are not a real Spurs fan. Your actions of giving up speak louder than your words you write.....so fuck yourself fair-y-weather fan.
You're questioning how much of a "fan" someone else may be? YOU - the guy that doesn't even watch his favorite team play? Get off the soapbox. You're not even a real Colts fan.
(Feel free to reply with your bullshit Spiderman references that only you find amusing.)
