AS you know im the same as you. I still watch even when they suck. They are my team and I stand by that through good times and bad. Same as the Texans, same as the Spurs, same as the Horns. Luckily I have the horns in college fb, basketball, and baseball. Spurs are declining and the best is behind us. The stros are trying to fix that clusterfuck that is our team, and the Texans are hopefull and trying to get past the hump. None of us realistically knew we could even do anything in playoffs especially when we cant close out a game when the going gets tough. We have shown signs of our talent but our youth has shined though.

I can salute the non-benefactorness in you for standing true to your team.:toast

I made fun of him for being into comic books and for being a broncos fan who talked shit all week about how they were going to beat the Colts.

Then he went all Andy Dick-like butthurt.

I've gone through the Spurs struggles in the 90's and the heart break. I was a fan then as I am now. I bet during the Robinson era you gave up on the Spurs only to recalim them as your team once Duncan arrived and deliverd a championship(as you have proven to be that kind of "fan") I've also gone through the stuggles of the Colts in Manning's early years and the heartbreak losing. But I was still there as a fan as I am now.

Now YOU, fag...you have proven that you give up on the teams you follow. It is logical to presume that you will do the same thing with the Spurs. Sure, you'll be gung ho at first, once Duncan retires, saying "Tony Parker will lead us to another Championship!" But a year later you will give up on the Spurs, just as you have given up on the texans. History repeats itself. Your a douche, not a fan of sports teams.
lol...it took you that long to respond and this is the best you can do? :lmao

Struggles in the '90s? What struggles? Besides not winning a title, they were a pretty successful team. Most of those teams were limited because of a lack of a decent supporting cast, but they still made the playoffs every year and competed. It's not like anyone was beating the Bulls...and the Rockets had the arguably they best all-around big man to ever touch a basketball. As a matter of fact, they have only had three seasons of less than 50 wins and one missed playoff in the past TWENTY years(lockout season adjusted). So...once again...you fail.

And if you are such a dedicated fan, then why don't you post in the Spurs forum? A quick search of your posts shows that you have not even bothered to post there since the beginning of the season and you have only posted in three threads total.

The fact is...you are nothing but a worthless troll...and not even a good one.

"Denver came out of the gate, deferring to receive the ball until the 2nd half. It was a gamble McDaniels took in wanting to see his defense make a stand early and save them a bit of gas until later in the ballgame. Obviously, this is hard to accomplish against a team like Manning the Colts. Colts bolt ahead with an impressive, early drive. Clock-chewing, yard-eating, TD-scoring drive that was beautiful in execution.

The Broncos found themselves in too much of an early hole in this one, but fought back from late in the 2nd quarter until withering in the Colts last meaningful possession. The defense made some nice adjustments and had Manning and the offense off-kilter for most of the 2nd half. But, by then, it was too much to make up for an offense that was marred by gaffes and shortcomings most of the afternoon.

Kyle Orton, aside from one ball, played a heck of a game. He and Marshall were lethal. The running game left much to be desired as Moreno danced around and found it difficult to break into the 2nd level of the Colts defense. The loss of Buckhalter hurt (but almost expected with him) and McDaniels has little faith in Hillis unless its garbage time. Gaffney had a couple catches, but the rest of the receivers did squat. Where was Royal, Stokley - even Scheffler or Graham to put some pressure on the edges? I felt a lot of the issues with the offense was the predictability and lack of execution in short-yardage situations. Moreno has proven, for most of the season, that he's not capable of grinding out a 3rd and 1 or 3rd and 2-type situation. The run blocking today didn't help, either.

Props to the Colts for sticking in and taking a hard-fought game. Though you can never be happy with a loss, I thought Denver showed a lot of grit and determination in a game that would have seen them fold up in years past. This December feels a lot brighter for the Broncos than ones in recent history. If they can build on recent performances and buckle up on some of the mistakes, key blocks and execution, they might be more feared in the playoffs than teams like the Bengals and even the Patriots. Hopefully, none of the injuries on either side will linger.

Good game, guys."

I highly doubt a quitter like you is a. . .ahem, a productive member of society, :lol What with your quitter mentality.

Your right though, I don't know what it was like to be an oiler/texan fan. But neither do you since there is no doubt you quit on the Oilers too. Muc like the same way you quit on the texans this year. Hell, Im more than convinced now you were not around for the good 'ol Spurs basketball of the '90s since you discredit any heartbreak any of us real Spurs fan's felt back in the day.

I guess I'm not. A real fan would pick good teams to root for then go to a message board with a LOL handle that singles out a team they have beaten regularly since the beginning of that teams existence. The funny thing is that the general consensus of this forum is that you are not even good at that.

I'm done here. I don't need to explain anything further to a troll and TBQH, I don't know why I let myself get sucked into trying to anyway. I know better.

Go Texans...and as always...maybe next year. :)

Ok...so maybe I was going a little over the top emo in saying that I was done posting here for the year. It was a the toughest loss for me since Rosencopter.

That said, I'm still probably going to need to separate myself from this team and probably pro football for a few weeks. I am old enough to remember clearly the pain inflicted in the 90's by the Oilers(the comeback at Buffalo in '92, followed up by the 11 straight wins in '93 only to watch Joe Montana and Marcus Allen make that streak look meaningless), and right now it's starting to feel that way again...that so close but so far away feeling. I'd compare it to a marriage that is turmoil and the best solution for saving it is for both people to get away from each other for a while.
Alright...consider me back in the saddle. I apologize to the small Texans faithful on this board for going emo and acting like I was going to jump ship. We are all we've got.

Now that we are out of playoff contention, 9-7 is the goal. It's not what any of us wanted, but any improvement has to be seen as a positive. We are a young team and poised to be a good team...we just have to find some consistency.

Texans-Rams Preview (CBS Sports) (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/gamecenter/preview/NFL_20091220_HOU@STL/texansrams-preview)

One of the AFC's two wild-card spots looks unlikely at this point, but the Houston Texans can still finish with a winning record for the first time in franchise history.

Houston looks to build on its first win in six weeks Sunday when it faces a St. Louis Rams team that has dropped 11 straight at home.

After opening 5-3, the Texans appeared to be in position to not only improve upon the franchise-record eight wins set in each of the past two seasons, but to make the playoffs for the first time.

Houston, though, dropped four straight before getting back on track last Sunday with a 34-7 victory over Seattle. Matt Schaub completed 29 of 39 passes for 365 yards and tossed two touchdowns to Andre Johnson, who had season highs with 11 receptions and 193 yards.

Schaub, who has a franchise-record 3,814 passing yards, threw for 336 in the first half as Houston (6-7) built a 27-7 lead.

"That's the most explosive half of football I've ever been around," said coach Gary Kubiak, whose team closes the season against Miami and New England. "I've never been around that. That's what we're capable of and if we find a way to bottle that someday for four quarters, it will be a real happy day."

Schaub, Johnson and the Texans' fourth-ranked passing offense could have another big day against a St. Louis defense yielding 27.8 points per game - 31st in the NFL.

"There are no excuses if you give up 40 points in a game," Rams rookie linebacker James Laurinaitis said following last Sunday's 47-7 loss at Tennessee. "That is not acceptable on any level, whether it's high school, college or professional."

St. Louis (1-12), which has lost 22 of 23, also hasn't been able to accomplish much on offense. The Rams have scored 10 points or fewer seven times and are averaging a league-worst 11.2.

With rookie quarterback Keith Null possibly making his second straight start Sunday, those numbers might not improve against a Texans defense that is playing better of late.

When Kyle Boller couldn't go last week due to a sore thigh, Null, a sixth-round pick from West Texas A&M, made his NFL debut. He completed seven of his first eight passes and finished 27 of 43 for 157 yards with a TD and five interceptions.

"You put a guy in a tough situation, but Keith's pretty solid. He's got some resolve, so I'm going to hope that he will be able to shake it off," said coach Steve Spagnuolo, who has not committed to Null or Boller as the Rams look for their first home win since Oct. 19, 2008, over Dallas.

Whomever is taking the snaps will face a Texans defense that had three sacks, a forced fumble and 15 tackles for loss last Sunday. Mario Williams had a pair of sacks and linebacker DeMeco Ryans matched a season high with 12 tackles.

"It shows we are capable of doing it, and we've just got to continue it next week in St. Louis," rookie linebacker Brian Cushing said. "It doesn't mean anything if you go out and lay an egg."

Houston, which held the Seahawks to 62 yards rushing, will try to slow down St. Louis' Steven Jackson, who is second in the NFL with 1,279 yards.

Jackson ran for a season-low 47 yards against Tennessee.

"Instead of standing here embarrassing myself, and my family, I'm just going to say I'm tired. I'm just tired. I'm tired. You fill in the blanks," Jackson said. "However you want to write the article, however you want to say it, I'm just tired."

Jackson will not be running behind left guard Jacob Bell or right guard Richie Incognito. Bell was placed on injured reserve Wednesday with a torn hamstring, while Incognito was released a day earlier after picking up two personal fouls in the first half last Sunday.

In the teams' only meeting, St. Louis won 33-27 in overtime Nov. 27, 2005, in Houston.

Recap (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/recap?gid=20091220014)

They didn't show the game here..but it looks like the defense continues to play well, as they held them to only 237 yards. With the running game bogging down Schaub once again played well, completing 70% of his passes for 367 yards and no picks. Looks like Andre basically ran wild on their secondary. Anyone get to see it?

Actually I did Pussy. The offense looked like shit besides AJ and Schaub. There is absolutely no run game what so ever and the defense looked bad for most parts of the game. Even though they got the win it was extremely hard to watch.

Yeah...that's basically what I've gotten from watching video and recaps.

This coming week is interesting. There is about a 10% chance that we somehow see the wild card but winning this game is actually instrumental in that. S

Something to play for? :downspin:

Looks like there is still a slim chance at the playoffs. They can't play the way they did in the second half next week like they did this week. Brady won't be missing the throws that Henne missed.

I'm predicting a loss next week though and the third 8-8 season in a row.

Steven, so what needs to happen now for our slim chance at the playoffs?

benefactor

Here's a quick breakdown of the playoff situation:

There are four other teams with an 8-7 record...the Steelers, Ravens, Jets and Broncos. We are behind in the tiebreaker with all of them(head to head, conference record), so it comes down to Houston winning and and three out of the four teams losing for us to get in. Furthermore, the Patriots will be fighting for the 3 seed so they will not be resting any starters against us.

Here is the schedule for those 4 teams:

Steelers at Dolphins
Ravens at Raiders
Bengals at Jets
Chiefs at Broncos

As you can see, the quality of each opponent suggests that it is highly unlikely that three out of four of those teams lose. More than anything, I just want to see us fight to win the Pats game. Going out with a win over a good team at home and a 9-7 record would be a nice consolation prize if we miss the post season.

Steven, so what needs to happen now for our slim chance at the playoffs?

I pulled this from another site.

Case 1
Texans beat the Patriots, and
Bengals beat the Jets, and
Chiefs beat the Broncos, and
Raiders beat the Ravens

Spot #6 - Wildcard

Case 1
Texans beat the Patriots, and
Bengals beat the Jets, and
Chiefs beat the Broncos

Case 2
Texans beat the Patriots, and
Bengals beat the Jets, and
Raiders beat the Ravens

Case 3
Texans beat the Patriots, and
Chiefs beat the Broncos, and
Raiders beat the Rave

All that is moot because I seriously don't think they will beat the Pats. They would need to play a complete game and they haven't done that all season.

benefactor
12-28-2009, 01:43 PM
I didn't realize that Houston held the 3rd tiebreaker vs Pittsburgh. That makes things at least a little bit more manageable. If I had to pick one that was most likely I'd say that it would be Cincy beating the Jets and KC beating Denver. KC/Denver is a division game and KC might try to salvage something out of the season with a win. Cincy might or might not rest starters, as they are in the same spot as the Pats...where a win or loss could decide whether they are the 3 or 4 seed.

You are right again...they were part of the reason I admitted I was wrong and I deserved the bashing. Someone has to be there to smack the shit out of you when you aren't thinking clearly and posting out of emotion. I'm glad they were.

No doubt. It just fits the Texans' MO - make their fans agonize one more game. Logically, I know the Texans are a few personnel additions away from legitimately competing, but I have little faith in Kubiak even if that happens. Hell, it should have happened this year.

Also - 2:00 to go in the second quarter, and the Bengals have a total offensive output of 7 yards. Wow.

Yeah sucks cause Kubs has no balls but looks like he will be back next year. I like what Bush has done with the def. It will be an interesting offseason thats for sure. Could be worse we could have finished 8-8 again and the way the team cant close out games we dont belong in the playoffs.

They played well today and I like that they didn't give up after being down by 14 but they shit the bed way too much this season. They never played with the intensity needed and that comes from the coach. It will be interesting to see what the offseason brings. I still don't think Kubiak coming back in 100%. His coaching did cost the team the playoffs even if they did come back to finish the season with a 4 game win streak. Shanny and Cower have been reported to be interested in the gig if it opens up. Well son of a bitch....
Here's the story -

http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/fb/texansfront/6796978.html

It did not take long for owner Bob McNair to evaluate the job coach Gary Kubiak did this season.

McNair said last month he would wait to evaluate Kubiak after the season. A few minutes after the Texans' 34-27 victory over the New England Patriots at Reliant Stadium, McNair said Kubiak would return for the fifth and final year of his contract.

There is a chance Kubiak will get an extension. :wow That decision will be made later this month.

"Gary's my coach," McNair said after the Texans rallied to defeat the Patriots and finish 9-7 for their first winning record. "I know there was speculation that he might not be (back in 2010), but he will be. He'll definitely be back. I don't see any reason why he wouldn't be."

Kubiak wasn't surprised because he'd gotten no indication from McNair that his job was in jeopardy, but he was still appreciative.

"That means a lot to me," Kubiak said. "It shows me that Bob believes we're headed in the right direction. He's great to work for. He's always positive, supportive and very thorough.

"I'm glad we won this game and finished with a winning record. That's for him and everyone in the organization."

McNair said last month that he didn't want to make a change because change was disruptive. He also said he thought the Texans had a better chance of being real good in 2010 with Kubiak than a new coach.

"Look at the conditions he coached under, especially all the injuries," McNair said. "I like Gary for a lot of reasons. He's got a great offensive mind. He has a great sense of how to push players and when to back off. He also doesn't play favorites. He treats players the same, and they respect him for it."

Kubiak has one year left on the five-year, $10 million contract he signed with the Texans to replace Dom Capers in 2006. His teams have finished 6-10, 8-8, 8-8 and now 9-7.

Houston has a team?

Too bad you folks weren't blessed enough to be Cowboys fans!!

The NFC east is a fucking joke asshole. If the Texans were to switch with Dallas (division spot), the texans would be 15-1 and the Cowboys would be 1-15.

Its going to be fun to watch the cowboys get fucked in the playoffs.

Prepare to get fucking raped next year when the cowboys see what a real TX team is fuckface.

Fuck the Bengals who layed down today,,,,,,,,,,assholes. They feared the Texans and layed down today. They will get theirs, trust me.

I'm not comparing them two at all. They are in different leagues. There are only 2 games where he completely fucked it up. During the 2 Jaguar loses, the first Colts loss and the Titans loss he actually put the team in place to score but it was either a fumble or missed kick that fucked it up.

for a lot of teams thats a blessing. We are making strides but not a contender yet. It was a fun NFL year though, it amuses me how we have so many haters now so that means we are doing something right. We play D next year in the reg season so it should make for some interesting forum smack. Good luck to everyone whos teams are still in it.

There is a BIG difference between hating...and making fun of.

We are making fun of the texans.

Hating is the act of one shitting on a team that is actually good and competive to make themselves feel better about their team's shortcommings.

Big difference between hating and making fun of.

nice he deserves it, he was a BEAST and all over the field. I wanted him or Matthews and looks like either or would have been good. Now we just need another beast OLB and we could have one of best youngest 3 in the league.

Yeah he is a beast and reminded me a lot like a young Ray Lewis. Was invovled in a lot of plays. The Texans run D made a lot of strides this year and Pollard really helped our secondary. I would like us to address OL, DT, CB, and our last OLB position. Running back is up in the air. I think Slaton had a sophomore slump and I like what Foster brings as well. I hope Meco and Ryans get paid finally.

Indeed. By the time thier balls dropped they were in the 4th quarter on the brink of 9-7 and depending on other teams to decide thier destiny. There was no excuse for losing that Colts game in Houston.
