Pop made a lot of mistakes early and most of his lineups have been horrible in this game. The Spurs spacing is fucking HORRIBLE so there's no way anyone is going to score in the paint until that is fixed. Some of the lineups in the first quarter were absolute trash though.
Pop couldn't control his knee jerk when the Lakers scored a lot of points early even though the defense was fine. He put in lineups that couldn't board to save their lives and the Lakers ended up getting something like 6 or 7 offensive boards in that first quarter when they actually DID miss.
The 2nd quarter was better, but that was mainly because he played George Hill. But then on the offensive side we still ran some ugly sets that are never going to work against the Lakers.
Phil Jackson owns the fuck out of Tony Parker and Pop needs to figure out a way to free him for some easy points.

Get Gooden in there for the second half.
Bonner doesn't have the ball to play the Lakers.
George Hill has balls too. Get George more courttime if Mason and Finley want to keep stinking it up.
From the little I watched so far. Good trying hard out there and Hill playing with heart. the rest suck.
Are you serious? Fin is the only one making shots and stepping up out there tonight. He's 7-9, and 3-3 from 3 for 17 points.

Like I mentioned in another thread about 3 minutes ago....
Drew looks pretty damn good. Things to look for in the 2nd half:
- If lamar blows wind in the 2nd half (which he is known to do), Spurs will capitalize
- If lamar plays the way he's playing.....better chances for the Lakeshow
This thing is far from over. Pop is running some plans with Gooden in them.

Points to address: Half-time statlines.
*La is currently shooting 53%. That needs to go down for us to have a chance.
*We're being outrebounded 23 to 18. Lakers have 6 offensive boards against our two. Hope our front court turn things around in the 2nd half.
*We already have 8 turnovers while LA has only two. We need to pressure them more and at the same time take care of our possesions.
If TP and TD don't pick up their games and we could at least defend Gasol decently and outbox Odom, this will be a massacre.

This game isn't on Mason and Bonner. While neither has played well, the fact is that Duncan, Parker, and Pop have the lionshare of the blame. Mason was forced to be the focal point of the offense at one point because he was on the court with Thomas, Udoka, Bowen, and Oberto. Thats a horrible fucking position to put him in and Pop should have known better. When your struggling so much from the offensive end of the court you do NOT go to that lineup.

I can't believe some people think this game is over already. We have a whole half to go. If Tony Parker starts hitting some shots and the role players keep playing as they are then I think we can get back in this game. Mason and TD are also playing poorly but I think they are less important to the Spurs offense which is what is letting them down most.
Tony more then ever this season runs the offense and when he is off we tend to lose. Let's hope he turns up his intensity in the second and the Lakers cool off a bit on those jumpers (and we can close out a bit better too heh...).

The blame is for sure on pop and parker. I noticed several times that parker had the ball either mason or bonner was open and he never even noticed because he was looking to shoot instead of pass. Thats something I think pop tells him to do and its annoying. I wish he would get his team mates involved in the game. The spurs play so much better when he's passing more.

I said Duncan should be aggressive before the game, I even went into detail..but after watching him the first half, I don't think he can be aggressive and sustain it..he looks like he has no confidence right now..
I don't think it's a physical thing, because he's been getting rebounds and moving fairly well on D..he looks like he's lacking confidence in his knee offensively..I don't know if he can step up and carry us in this game..
Tony has had games where he turns it around though, so maybe this will be one of them..that J that hit the side of the backboard was just embarrassing though, sums the game up well for me..
