Pop thinks he's too clever for his own good. It's really hard to feel confident about this team lately. TD hasn't had a good game since his injury and the prognosis has been that it'll linger the entire post season. Manu [I]may[I] come back in two weeks, but I'll believe that when I see it. For some reason I feel like his injury is more serious than people let on. This team hasn't played consistent basketball all year long, and I don't know why people expect they'll just flip the switch come playoff time.

I hope Pop is just experimenting with lineups out there. Hill guarding Walton? Really?
Exactly. Pop isn't exactly doing his best job with match ups, and it's annoying as hell to watch.

Phil Jackson going to lose this game with his horrid substitution patterns.
Leaving Walton out on the floor when the Lakers need DEFENSE more than anything could spell a complete disaster for LAL. He simply has a man crush on Walton and will not stop playing him no matter how bad Luke is playing.
The Lakers need their best defensive lineup on the floor to close games out. That means Trevor Ariza on the floor, not Walton.

Kobe played a great game. Lakers=Kobe Bryant no doubt.

Tim is so much better than Gasol or Odom - I just can't understand why he seems so intimidated by them. And we know Bowen is a proven Kobe stopper - he should've been on him the whole game and worn him out.
I heard earlier in the broadcast that the Lakers are 11-3 on 2nd nights of a B2B - that's pretty impressive.

well,Kobe didn't score in the last play with Hill on him.
2-4 against Hill in the game. Not really bad for a rookie.
And Kobe could score the same if you put Bowen on him
I still trust bowen guarding kobe more than hill... putting a rookie to guard one of the best players in the world isn't the smartest move to make late in a game.

A win would've been nice, but considering how the game started, I'm not too dissapointed. If the Spurs hadn't started off so slowly, or if they had made their FTs (reasonable expectation), we would've had a more positive ending (I think).
Edit: And as legendary as Duncan has been in his career, he's too damn soft around the basket. He gets hacked a lot, but that doesn't excuse the weak layups.

Hill did better than Mason did on Kobe and Hill is like 3 inches shorter.

Another typical Laker game. We fought hard in stretches, but bottomline they intimidate us from the headcoach all the way down to the ballboy, and are a better team at this point. Pop coached a clusmy, reactive game as usual, while PJ sat smirking.
To beat in the playoffs, we would need to play flawless basketball. Don't see that happening, do you? I guess there's no shame in getting beat by a superior team, too bad it always has to be the Lakers however. It's our fate, I guess, to be Laker cannon fodder.

No one could've played kobe better than Hill did on that 3. He did what he does, Give him credit. Ultimately we lost cause we did'nt show up ready to play. I love our effort coming back, And I like our chances with a healthy Manu. Also like what I saw from Gooden. Only thing that really concerns me is the refs.
Refs in LA are my main beef sucking off the movie stars and Stern. A fairly called game in LA would make me happy.

We lost on the boards tonight 42 to 33.
For all the Bonner apologists (whott, et al): Bonner played more than 3 times as many minutes as Gooden.
Bonner got exactly ZERO (0) rebounds. Gooden got 4 in 3.5 minutes.
By that ratio, Gooden would have more than 12 had he played the same amount of minutes as Bonner.
That would 8 rebounds. And then the rebounding would be essentially tied.
And it's fairly obvious that rebounding was a major factor in the loss.
This ought to make the point clear: Gooden is a better choice than Bonner for our starters.
The Lakers are the team we have to beat.

Sometimes games are won in the first quarter and tonight's game was the case.
However, they were some positive things to take from this game. The Spurs fought back for the rest of the game and got it two points.
Thomas and Gooden will help Duncan in the post. Tony Parker shows he can shrug off a bad first half and play well when it counted and they know they must shot better from the free throw line.
Manu's energy was needed tonight and that would have been huge.

Considering we went down by as many as 18 points, our D wasnt so great, and our Offense looked like ass in the 1st half as well, I'm just happy that our boys fought back tonight and made a game out of it. If TP and TD would've played like that in the 1st half we have more than just a chance to win this game. That being said, with Gooden making his debut and Manu coming back soon, I feel good about this team. They can get it done god damn it. This team had two 20-pt leads on the Lakers in last yr's series, and that Spurs team has nothing on this one. Thomas and Gooden should play more than Bonner though, he just can't bang inside and rebound, and it's a big problem. Alot of their points in the 1st half were off of offensive boards. I BELIEVE in this team, they can and will get it done. :flag:

Tony Parker showed that he has matured in tonight's game. This was a game where he had a bad first half and turned it all around in the same game when it mattered most. Tony did what he has been doing a lot lately. That is some real mental toughness from TP. Games like this from TP show that his mental toughness is getting up there with Manu. Great to have another player with a steel will. Props to TP for laying it out there.
