yes youre right, did he owe you money or something?, i think its well known that hes a different guy who really didnt give a fuck about football anymore, he was a millionare, and an adult.
I think it's well known he didnt give a fuck about anything........until I'm guessing that the money started running low.
youre saying that proves he was coddled 15 years ago under mackovic, who recruited him and coached him for 3 years, and that THAT made mack brown coddle benson and vy and not prepare them for the nfl, and thats texas' style
thats a stretch but i get you
I'm saying that UT coddles it's players and they aren't prepared for life.

now we know colt mccoy is gonna suck in the nfl by default

did ricky owe you something? i dont get your angle here, are you a lifelong miami dolphins fan? or a few years ago did you think texas did not coddle its players and ricky proved you wrong?
saying an entire university coddles all their players and doesnt prepare them for life is wrong, you know youre wrong and so does everyone who would read that statement
mookie2001

if only texas tech university had dozens of players in the nfl so we could all evaulate their coddling percentages

what angle? Did or didn't Ricky get thumped because of his doping?
saying an entire university coddles all their players and doesnt prepare them for life is wrong, you know youre wrong and so does everyone who would read that statement
Looking at Benson, Young, Roy, and Ricky and based on the perception of coddling that has been noted by various writers, I'll go ahead and stick with my opinion.

Being in the pros has nothing to do with Mack Brown's coddling.
Leach clearly does not coddle...... I'm not sure why you want to talk about Tech.
mookie2001
11-20-2009, 03:39 AM
yes the ricky williams story is well known
i just dont see what that has to do with coddling actually i dont even know what coddling means, like holding a baby
thats what mackovich and mack brown did to orakpo, jammer, dan neil, casey hampton, michael griffin, aaron ross, shaun rogers, priest holmes, held them so tight that they wouldnt get picked in the top 5 of the draft, that was their favor.
just using tech an example, they have a handful of players in the nfl compared to dozens for texas, more are going to be good, more are going to average and more are going to be busts

:lmao...thats your excuse for lack of reading comprehension...okay.
I think its funny that you let your "Longhorn hate" make you look like a complete dumbshit fool.
I mean seriously, what kind of person, no loser, holds a grudge against college football players who are now in the NFL. According to blake... "every Longhorn player who has ever played in the NFL and every future Longhorn player who will play in the NFL will suck because Im a bitter Tech fan"...Thats basically your sentiment.
And apparently, you think you can predict that Vince would of gone 0-6. Apparently you have some crystal ball that told you that. Obviously the Titans are a far better team with Vince at the helm. They would of won some of those game. But if you are so confident in your abilities to predict the "going on's" in the NFL then I'd like to see you predict every single game correctly in the NFL so I can lay some bets and make some money....you know, since you know everything and all.
And Tech prepares their players for the NFL better than Texas???? Shit son, Tech doesn't even prepare their players to make it to that level hardly, if ever. That's the reason you fail to see a Tech QB even be a suitible back up in the NFL. Thats the reason hardly see any tech players in the NFL
I spout my Longhorn fandom proudly, but Im not some loser who says OR believes every single OU player and A&M player sucks in the NFL, or that future OU and A&M players will suck. On the contrary. Shit, I hated Crabtree last season, but I don't hate him anymore. In fact, I've tried to watch the 49ers just to see how he is playing in the NFL our of intrest.
Maybe its different for me, because my Longhorns have dominated Tech and always will. Maybe its different for me because my Longhorns have actually done something in the college football landscape and have some hardware in their trophy case.
I think your mentality on bashing NFL players based on where they played their college ball speaks volumes of you as a person.

Watching Vince against the Niners this past Sunday, he's not nearly as bad as I remembered. He even threw a few nice deep balls. Overall he managed the game and didn't make mistakes. He's certainly improved from his last run of starts a few years ago. If he can continue to improve he'll certainly avoid the 'bust' label.
But the main reason the Titans won that game is Chris Johnson. End of story. That, plus, Alex Smith sucks balls. (and so do the Niners, pretty much)
I agree. It seems like he lost his newby style pf playing. He looks and plays a little more calmer. It is only two games though.

Not to discount your post or anything, but where did you see him have a real bad game? Vince was a decent QB before the whole injury/so called suicide incident that put him on the bench, where he's been ever since. I mean, the guy was 20-10 or 19-10 as a starter at that point. In my opinion, doing that in your first few seasons, coming in as a rookie starting QB is pretty damn good.

true ricky williams had 130 yards and 3 tds tonight and that proved he was coddled 15 years ago under mackovic
you could have a longer threa than this about ricky
I was damn proud of Ricky last night. My fantasy opponent had him on his team and got 30 points, so I just might lose, but it'll be alright with me to see Ricky run the ball so well. I'll still be in first anyway, even with the "L"

Besides, some fail to realize that the job of the college coach is to win and be successful at his program, not to be an NFL training grounds. Mack's success + NC speaks for itself. Most UT players are simply overrated when it comes to the draft. Much like USC, a lot of it comes with the overexposure these guys get. You can add Huff and DJ as guys who never lived up to the hype.
And Colt McCoy. Guy is a 4th round talent at best but most "experts" have him as a late 1st/early 2nd type of prospect.
And how is saying the Titans would still be 0-6 with VY any different than saying they wouldn't be 0-6 with VY? Kind of funny to see the contradiction in the same paragraph up above.

They most likely would have gone the same 3-0. 2-1 at worst.
Chris Johnson has been unbelievable and the defense has made some plays, but you wouldn't know since your arms are firmly surrounding Vince's nuts.

so you truly believe that a guy who was 0-6 could lead a team to 3-0 or 2-1? What would make you believe that? Was Vince actually going to throw WORSE than -7 yards against the Patriots? It's funny to me that Vince has only played 3 games this year, but was the team's leading passer in 4 games, with a staggering 0 yards against the Patriots. Like it or not, Vince is getting better every game, and I'd take him above Kerry Collins without taking a second to breathe right now.

And didn't they get Finnegan and Fuller back in VY's first start? Passing D has been much better the last three games.
VY has played well, but he isn't the only reason they've played better.
Blake
11-20-2009, 03:38 PM
Houston, NYJ, Jacksonville.
yeah, maybe Houston....maybe Vince doesn't fumble there at the end like Collins did.
of course, since Vince doesn't play D it would be hard for him to stop Schaub from throwing for 354 and 4 TDs.
NYJ, probably not as the Jets D was terrorizing every team's QB at that time.
At Jax, Chris Johnson only ran for 83 yards, and since Vince doesn't do 300 yard passing games, I'm going to say no to that one.
so you truly believe that a guy who was 0-6 could lead a team to 3-0 or 2-1? What would make you believe that? Was Vince actually going to throw WORSE than -7 yards against the Patriots? Vince went 0-2 with an INT against the Pats. Is that BETTER than -7 yards? I guess, depending on how far the INT went back for.
I'd take Vince over Collins too. Yippee.

:lmao, I'll admit, other than that fumble, the guy is playing really well. He's using his feet to compliment the pass and keep the D honest. As I write this, they call a set run play for Vince, and of course it fails. Idk why Tennessee chose that when Vince had been moving up the field looking to pass first and then running if nothing is there.

To say Vince Young has anything to do with this 4 game win streak is ridiculous. They would have won all 4 of these games with Kerry Collins.
In fact, if it wasn't for Vince Young's ineptitude, the Titans would be 5-5. They were poised to mount a comeback against New England, but Fisher made a huge error benching Collins, which resulted in the 59-0 beatdown.

Not good numbers but I'll admit after the first time I've seen him this year he played well. He did everything expected of him. The Titan's D has been a lot better since he started playing and that might have something to do with the fact they have very few 3 and outs with Vince and he hasn't done anything to give his D a short field to work with.

Wow..you really don't know a lot about football...The Tennessee Titan's offense is not one based around the skills of a running quarterback...it's too basic. That's why they never should have drafted Vince in the first place. When Atlanta drafted Michael Vick, they knew he was a running QB, and wasn't that skilled at throwing perfectly accurate passes, but because they were so horrible at the time, they changed their style to one that works with a running QB style...they promptly reached the SB a couple of years later.

Sunday Scene, Week 12: Vince Young re-arrives (http://sports.yahoo.com/fantasy/blog/roto_arcade/post/Sunday-Scene-Week-12-Vince-Young-re-arrives?urn=fantasy,205385)
By Andy Behrens (http://sports.yahoo.com/fantasy/blog/roto_arcade?author=Andy+Behrens)
http://a323.yahoofs.com/ymg/ept_sports_fantasy_experts__22/ept_sports_fantasy_experts-93062100-1259540740.jpg?ymEUKSCD7mW2EFXn
Vince Young's football career has not lacked drama, so we'll resist the temptation to call Sunday's comeback victory over Arizona a signature win.
Hell, it wasn't even Young's biggest win against Matt Leinart (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/7759/)(notes) (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/7759/news). That would be the 2006 Rose Bowl (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s8zZRBTOcnY). And it wasn't even his biggest win in the NFL in Week 12. That would be the Kiwanuka game (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HJ12p3uLk3Y) in Young's rookie season.
But if you consider where V.Y. appeared to be in his career arc just one year ago – ruined, forgotten, deeply benched – then Sunday's brilliant effort against the Cardinals has to rank among the more remarkable performances of his career.
Young led a 99-yard drive over the final 2:37, completing three passes on fourth down, including the 10-yard game-winner to Kenny Britt (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/9294/)(notes) (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/9294/news). Video here (http://www.nfl.com/videos/tennessee-titans/09000d5d81495c83/Can-t-Miss-Play-Young-for-the-win). Note the patience and touch. Young established new personal highs in both passing yards (387) and pass attempts (43). For the first time in his NFL career, he threw 30 or more passes without committing a turnover. If it wasn't a signature win, then it was at least a reminder of Young's obnoxious talent.
It was also a clear warning to the rest of the league. Tennessee hasn't lost since Young reclaimed the starting quarterback role. In a way, next week's Titans-Colts game feels like a battle of unbeatens. Young is as dangerous as ever, though not as reckless. Time to shed the skepticism and enjoy the spectacle.

the guy who after 3+ years has a career passer rating of 71.9, 26-34 TD-INT ratio, got booed by the home crowd and got benched for being a head case sucked. The Titans won 10 straight without him last year, remember?
The guy that played yesterday was a different cat. That dude was a fucking stud.
Hmm..guess my theory was pretty much on target, huh douchey?
Hmm..your theory was that since Vince is a running QB that it will set up his passing. You are pretty much off target.
He ran 4 times for 8 yards yesterday while throwing 43 times. It has been CJ running wild that has helped set up the pass.
Not to mention in the 5 wins, he threw under 200 yards 3 times.
Your theory works well enough in college, but in the pros, the defense can afford to drop back in coverage a lot more. The speed of the linebackers and even the linemen negate a lot of that scrambling ability.

I'm a Titans fan. Have been since they were the Houston Oilers. I'm also a huge Texas fan, so I was so happy when VY was drafted by the Titans, and finally it's starting to pay off. Next week's game should be a good one. Hopefully CJ and the boys can pull this one out.

Dwight Freeney is gonna run 5 yards to the sideline to give CJ a beast run. One or two times he might catch up to CJ, and you'll hear the broadcasters go, "wow, look at the athleticism of Dwight Freeney. being able to catch Chris Johnson after giving him that big run."

something else to consider, for those of you who say "the only reason VY is doing well is because CJ is so dominant, lololololololololololol vince young dances with men :lmao:lmao:lmao" bullshit... consider some stats...
http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/8801/gamelog;_ylt=ApYRJ6WbMFO8l2pfvHV6Abv.uLYF
while he had been playing pretty well, CJ didnt go on this huge tear until AFTER VY began starting... in the 6 games prior to VY starting, he had 100+ yard games only twice, and had 2 total rushing TDs...
after VY began starting, in these 5 games he has never ran for less than 132 yardsm 5.1 YPC, and has 7 rushing TDs.
id say that both players have clearly helped each other. CJ and VY both gets to play alongside a weapon that an opposing team has to seriously account for (be honest, no one was ever scared of KFC. not even for a second), and now they both are playing much better.
Kenny Britt has shown promise all season as well, and made a hell of a catch on the GW the other day. perhaps this could be a nice trio for years to come.

I'd give it a little more credence if there wasn't such a difference in the number of carries before and after the bye.
Before bye: 15.8 carries/game
After bye: 24.4 carries/game
VY has helped, as does winning, but I'd say it's just an excellent, explosive player getting more opportunities to gash defenses. Even early in the year when the games were close, he wasn't getting the ball nearly as much as he is now.

Defensive linemen/linebackers have to respect the QB's mobility now so they can't just capsize the pocket. This gives more time and room for CJ to break the line and he's being able to produce better with it. With better production and better drives/more overall plays comes more rushing attempts. They benefit each other.

Not disagreeing with you, or even with Stretch.
He's damn good in his own right is all I'm saying. And I am not one of those crediting VY's success solely to CJ. It certainly helps, but VY has done everything asked so far.
The only real questions I have about VY now is how he responds to losing a few games and if the can maintain the consistent performances.
He looks much more comfortable in the pocket and he's playing extremely well.

Its funny how you try to "look at the whole picture" but don't really look at the whole picture.
It's easier to get more carries, if you have more chances to carry the ball. Consistent 3-and-outs and short-lived 5 or 6 play drives will not get you very many touches. VY has made a massive difference in keeping plays and drives alive, as opposed to KFC.

I agree with this completely.
And the thing that would irk me about VY haters, is that ALL great players through time had great weapons to help them. Emmitt had a great o-line. Brady had great protection. Rice had QBs that knew how to get the ball to him effectively.
VY finally has a good weapon, and people suddenly want to use that to discredit his performance? Most illogical.
My point is, great players go hand-in-hand. They need each other for success. That's why these are team games, and thats what makes sports so great. Every single player makes a difference.

he gets credit for doing a good job of not completely fucking things up like he usually does, managing the offense decently. but the defense was FAR superior last year as opposed to this year (haynesworth was a massive loss)
unfortunately KFC went back to his old self again this year, throwing duds, throwing picks, and completely sucking ass as much as an ass can get sucked.
fact is, last year their defense was good enough to manage wins despite a poor offense. but this year, it wasnt, and they need support from their offense, and VY has helped to provide that, and the team as a whole has improved, offensively (because they can actually sustain drives and have reasons to be feared with CJ and VY) and defensively (arent on the field for 40 minutes a game anymore, constantly having to clean up after the awful offense).

The performance by the WR unit in the NE game was possibly the worst I've seen in a few years. I didn't understand having him throw the ball so much in the rain on a windy day in NY, either.
KC was a problem and he definitely didn't play well, but he wasn't the only reason they were 0-6.
It was a perfect situation for VY. No expectations, was getting several key players back from injury, the talent on their team was better than their record and really, he had nothing to lose.
So that's twice now that he's played well in a relief role. Hopefully, he can carry into next season and play well from Day 1, something he hasn't proven he can do yet.

The schedule for the Titans was tough to start. Pittsburgh, NY Jets, Indy and NE. If CJ runs for the same totals, then VY throwing for less than 200 yards probably wins none of those games either.
You're right, it was a perfect situation for him to step into for those reasons, as well as the way the schedule softened and they had the bye week to rest up a bit.
Hell even though they probably lose to Indy this week, they should St Louis, Miami, and Seattle and worst case, Vince finishes the season 8-2 as the starting QB and 90210 will go wild.

vince was coddled.
a picture is worth a thousand words
I agree with me that he was coddled in college.
That picture proves he likes to party without clothing.

they have to let the one white guy in so they don't get accused of discrimination.
I think it's fat kerry collins before training camp.

no big deal. Vince just knows how to win.
5-0, bitches!

It's bout to be 5-1
It blows my mind that people think Vince Young is the difference between the Colts butt fucking the Titans in their own stadium 31-9 and the Titans being able to roll into Indy and beat the undefeated Colts without regard to the fact that recent trends in NFL history show that a team that gets blown out like that usually doesn't win the rematch, especially if it's on the road.
The one and only time Vince Young beat the Colts in Indy, he was barely able to beat the Colts third string defense when Dungy pretty much let Fisher win the game and sneak into the playoffs.

That white guy is Casey Studdard, who's now starting on the Oline for the Texans. I guess it was a football thing, but fucking weird.

If yous guys don't see me on TV in a few years calling NFL games, assume I died honorably serving my country.

I'd give it a little more credence if there wasn't such a difference in the number of carries before and after the bye.
Before bye: 15.8 carries/game
After bye: 24.4 carries/game
You can't carry as much when you're losing games, that's why CJ has more touches with VY than Collins.

All great players EXCEPT Mario. I'd leave him out of the discussion out of common sense.
