Is anyone really surprised by this? The only time we actually looked like a championship team in the entire season was against the Mavs. Apart from that, we were inconsistent on both ends the whole time, and that was always going to come back and haunt us against a really good team (which the Suns are this year).

No need to jump off a cliff though - we have lots of developing youth, and RJ's contract will soon be an expiring, as will TP's. Plenty of reasons to be optimistic for next season and beyond.

Yeah, I'd have to agree. I hate looking at the probability of getting swept by Phoenix, but given how poorly the Spurs played most of the season and how obvious it was quite early on they were not a championship-level team, I'm not that upset about it. I still think the '01 sweep by the Lakers was the most upsetting playoffs loss for me.

Yep - Tim and Tony were horrendous at the line tonight. And Phoenix is just hot and they're playing inspired basketball. Spurs should learn something from them. They were down big time - but didn't panic; they just kept playing and got back in the game one possession at a time.

It's just like we did against Dallas. We wanted revenge and the guys played like it. Now it's the Suns who are finally getting revenge on the Spurs. But they'll never beat the Lakers.

This team is the same shit team that sucked for most of the year. Too bad they didn't suck enough to get a lottery pick. The only reason we had a strong finish was because of Manu's amazing games.

From top to bottom, these guys just don't have what it takes. When your stars are taking turns sucking ass, you can't blame the role players too much. This team is just full of fail. Especially Pop, who apparently can't prepare a bunch of professional basketball players to win a game. Failed to get the right personnel, failed to develop young players in favor of useless vets, and failed to demand defensive excellence.
