Suns just pouring it on. Oh well. Obviously this stings, but trying to take a step back, the Spurs just ran into the hottest team in the NBA. They also had a great first round series. It just seemed too much to ask for this team if you were being realistic.

The Spurs showed some serious flaws that would be manifested against the Suns if you paid attention, but they still had chances to win a few games in this series.

It you think Dragic is some wonder player, you are just another one of many who over react to one amazing game. Great game for the kid, but don't fool yourself into thinking he is an elite player and that this was expected.

He has shown some decent flashes, but no where near anything like this. Get real.

Yes it is bad. We can't sign anyone to replace him. We either need to trade him or have him agree to a sign and trade to get someone back for him.

I was actually thinking of the Suns as a good spot for him about a month ago, but not anymore. Suns wouldn't want him at all.

Nobody is going to want that vulcan-eared douche. Worst Spur ever. IMO.

I really think Pop has lost his desire to coach. I mean, there were several times when reporters asked him questions about the team and his reply would be "these guys are grown men, I don't need to say anything to motivate them." Well maybe he should revert back to the Pop of old who would almost have a stroke because he'd get so riled up at the guys. Now it's like, oh well, nothing I can do about it.

Yep. We stood around and let Ukic go wild. Just like we've done with Dragic tonight. Meanwhile, the Suns put serious wood on Parker and Manu. We played like wussies.

Bowen and Horry, we miss their crafty toughness.

Still, it's inexcusable that the Spurs don't believe in playoff fouls. We let what's-his-name do it to us in the Maverick series, and we let Tony get thrown to the floor in this game. After which, he missed FT's.

Just another dimension in which we've been outplayed and outcoached in this series.

You think the Lakers will not hesitate to knock Nash on his ass?

LOL, the other shoe had to drop at some point.....it happens in every sport where one team has been dominated for years: eventually they fight back (usually during the bully's weaker moments) and one-up them at some point. Props to the Suns for taking advantage of their opportunity.

Now the Spurs have to rebound and regroup moving forward in the remaining time of the Tim Duncan Era.

If we can't beat their bench in the fourth quarter, then we have no business thinking about winning this series, so it's fitting that they won by double digits. Oh, and I'm glad Ginobili, Bonner, and McDyess were the only ones that brought their A game.

I don't think I will go for the Suns next series if they win. I actually liked them, but feel we let them off the hook.

I am not convinced they are mentally tougher than before and think that the Lakers will impose their will on them and make them crumble.

Spurs have just been pathetic and not capitalized on anything. There were points in game 1 and 2 where the Suns were ready to choke, but we gave them this confidence that they now have. Pretty much a lot of this is on the Spurs.

Tough loss tonight...

Spurs choked at the line all the way around this series and a good chunk of the playoffs and it's finally come around to bite them. It's got to be deflating to put up bricks at the charity stripe and then have to scramble on defense just to give up 3 points like nothing.

Well we're still alive, although, I think life support is the current status. I'll hang in there till it's over, which it isn't yet. Still this Sun's team played brilliantly and it was thier bench that delivered the killing blow just like in game 2. tonight we looked like a 7th seed. I just had a bad feeling once Jefferson blew that dunk in the first few seconds of the game. And with all the missed ft' I never felt secure. But I love my team so hell let's win game 4.

Yeah - this really hurts. The guys came out on fire and I hate them for giving us that false hope once again. It's so depressing to see them fall apart and the just give up. This is truly an embarrassment - I'm not even going to watch the next game. I wouldn't be surprised if the Spurs win just because of pure pride, but they're only delaying the inevitable.

This team needs to be completely rebuilt - sadly, we all thought we had the pieces at the beginning of the season when we got McDyess and Jefferson and Blair. Boy, were we ever wrong!

But hey, we made it to the elite 8 - and that's better than 22 other teams. For awhile this season, I was wondering if the Spurs would even make the playoffs. I know, I know, I'm just trying to cheer myself up a little bit.

Dragic, Suns bench eclipse San Antonio (http://espn.go.com/nba/recap?gameId=300507024)

The Phoenix Suns would be thrilled to finally beat the Spurs in the playoffs by any margin.

But a sweep? That would be especially sweet.

Phoenix is one win away from ending years of playoff misery against San Antonio, taking a 3-0 lead in the Western Conference semifinals with a 110-96 victory Friday night, putting the Spurs in a historically irreparable hole.

"I think it's safe to say that may have been the best fourth-quarter performance I have ever seen in a playoff game," Suns forward Grant Hill said.

He wasn't talking about the team.

He was just talking about Goran Dragic.

The backup point guard scored 23 of his 26 points in a brilliant fourth quarter, rendering Steve Nash unneeded until the final 3 minutes. Amare Stoudemire? He never even took off his warmups in the fourth quarter.

Dragic hit nine of 11 shots in the fourth, including all four 3-point attempts.

After his last one with 5.7 seconds left, the Suns impatiently waited for the final seconds to tick away before swarming Dragic. The Spurs shuffled away in a 3-0 deficit -- which no team in NBA history has ever come back from.

Stunned Spurs fans could still be overheard muttering "Goran Dragic? Goran Dragic?" long after most of the AT&T Center emptied. It was about that time that Suns coach Alvin Gentry, having finished his postgame news conference, walked back across the court.

Goran Dragic?

"He's my secret weapon," Gentry said while breezing past the scorer's table, smiling wide. "I don't know where he came from, either."

Dragic said he's been there all along. He was apparently disguised under the 7.9 points he averaged during the regular season, and his 5.6 scoring average in the playoffs entering Game 3.

"During halftime I was talking with Coach Gentry and he told me I have to be more aggressive and drive the lane," said Dragic, playing in his first career postseason. "When I came back on the court I just did what he told me."

The Spurs have put Phoenix through a decade of postseason misery, ousting the Suns from the playoffs four consecutive times since 2003. Another win finally ends all that.

Game 4 is Sunday night in San Antonio.

"Everything we tried, it was a bucket and it was demoralizing," Spurs guard Manu Ginobili said. "We're going to have to have a perfect game."

Ginobili led the Spurs with 27 points while welcoming Tony Parker back to the starting lineup, but it was a move that didn't work out as the Spurs planned.

Parker had come off the bench since returning from a broken right hand last month, and finally reclaimed his starting role from George Hill with the hopes of rescuing this series.

Hill had started 46 consecutive games since January but has struggled against Phoenix. Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said it was just a matter of time until Parker -- who had started every playoff game since 2002 for the Spurs before this postseason -- would get his job back.

But it wasn't exactly a triumphant return. Parker averaged 23 as a reserve in Games 1 and 2 but didn't provide the same jolt while reclaiming his starting job. He scored 10 points on 5-of-17 shooting.

Parker got an X-ray on his shoulder after the game, but the results weren't immediately known.

The Spurs blew a big lead for the second straight game. The Suns trailed 39-21 early in the second quarter while missing 13 of their first 21 shots, putting Phoenix in the biggest hole it faced thus far in the playoffs.

But like the other deficits, this one didn't last.

"Definitely an opportunity wasted," said Spurs forward Tim Duncan, who had 15 points and 13 rebounds.

Dragic's layup on the second Phoenix possession of the fourth quarter put the Suns ahead 73-72, their first lead of the game. Phoenix outscored San Antonio 39-24 in the fourth quarter and shot 71 percent from the field.

Jason Richardson had 21 points and Hill added 18 for the Suns.

Game notes
Duncan's dreadful free throw shooting continues. He was 5 of 12. ... The Suns have trailed by double figures three times in the playoffs and have come back to win every time.

I never said he was a scrub. I said if you look at this complete body of work he is a below average player that has shown flashes of being very good.

Is a scrub worse than below average?

Goran just really has not had as many opportunities in the NBA. On the international stage, though, everyone knows what a good defender he has been, especially against Parker. He really is not a good shooter, though. That is the most surprising part. His shot is the worst part of his game. He made it to the NBA because of his defense and his ability to run an offense, but he has had to work hard to improve his shot. I contend he is a better defender than Hill.

I cant remember the last time i saw a choke like this! how the hell can you be up 18 and lose by double digits in the playoffs in what is one of the most important games of the year? I don't say it was just one person. it was the whole team and Coach. The thing that bothers me most as a fan is i know The Suns are NOT a better team. the spurs missed tons of free throws and made crucial mistakes in rotation. But it is what it is. Best of luck coming back from 0-3, but in reality enjoy your offseason and get healthy. Of course I will still hang on to hope they can come back but we all know....

Those FT's are going to haunt the Spurs organization more than anything else this summer. It only got worse as the playoffs went on and was a sign of mental ineptitude that spread down to the mechanics.

Probably....

Yeah, but their "small-ball" consists of 6'10'' Lamar Odom at PF. That's far from actual small-ball.

I wouldn't expect that, I'd anticipate a good enough effort to send it back to Phoenix.......that said, the Suns are clearly the better team at this point and are more than capable to put this away Sunday, especially if the Spurs curl up into the fetal position at the FT line.

I like to be realistic, but anything can happen. The best team will win in 7 99.9999% of the time, I'm sure....is TP out for Sunday? Anyway, tonight was a bad loss....well deserved and demoralizing. I was in transit for much of Dragic's "I'm the new MJ" stretch....who was guarding him? Nash?

He took turns on the entire team......sometimes 2 players at a time. One of those nights. We'll have to see about Tony, but with Sunday possibly being the last game of the season and with him being able to finish out the game (aggressively), I can't see anything less than a broken arm keeping him out of Game 4.
