They really could've made the entire first half of season 2 condensed into 2 or 3 episodes. Pretty pathetic.
In other news, I was laughing so hard at the end which turned to cheers in the last minute. All they gotta do now is kill off the other kid, the desperate asian guy and rick's wife while turning andrea into a cum dumpster and we'll have ourselves a great show.

Shane is the only character who is aware he is in the MOTHERFUCKING ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE.
The rest of the characters are shitty soap opera stars.
About an average of 40 minutes per episode is dedicated to dialogue, sensitivity, emotions, and crying, and then there's maybe, MAYBE 5 minutes of zombie murder action.
That might be okay if the dialogue, acting, and script were passable....hahahahaha.

Basically, thats what people seem to want. Which is fine for a 1.5 hour movie, not so much for a 3 season cable television show.
I like it, even with the drama. I dont like the Shane character, but he really is the only one making sense. The problem though, is that his will to survive has officially surpassed his humanity. He has basically become something unrepresentative of humanity itself and is therefore not worth saving.
The blonde is becoming just like him, but I forsee her having some epiphany about it.
Rick's kid doesnt bother me, he is just a kid.
Rick's wife, total idiot and hopefully soon to be used as bait.
The old man, nothing wrong with him really, but he steps over the line constantly as it pertains to group safety under some desperate sense of higher morality. A habitual linestepper.
Asian kid is cool, to me. Not trying to save the world or hold onto the way things used to be (like fucking Rick), but not sacrificing his sense of humanity just to survive, either. His hillbilly girlfriend is another matter, however.
The billy-bob with the crossbow, he's cool. Just a slightly twisted version of the Asian kid.
Old mother-hubbard ought to just off herself and get it over with. Just an extra mouth to feed and not one redeeming quality as a person besides continuing to be the broken human being she was before and after the zombie apocalypse.
Big black guy...not very central to the story in any way. He was in the first season, but he is almost non-existent in the second. Thats weird because I like him as a character.

People want to see a new 28 days later each week. Frankly, as much as I love that movie and I love the zombie action, that would be boring as shit after a couple a few weeks. The way they built up to that episode's pay off convinced me the writers are doing a damn good job. Very few times have I had a "OH NO THEY DIDN'T" look on my face watching TV.

If I recall, the TV show is already well past the point in the comic where Carl kills Shane (not that it's necessarily following it in all other areas). I would not assume that will happen in the show. Shane seems to be a much more pivotal character here.

I'm way behind this season. I've been dvr'ing every episode but I think I just finished the 5 episode of this season. Its the one episode, and forgive me for not knowing the names, with the cop that was banging the other cop's wife and that guy getting supplies for his kid. I knew I didn't like or trust that guy for a reason. I hope he meets a violent, ass gaping end. No racist.

I read an interesting analysis of horror pics. It said that Dracula movies are about the vampire, Werewolf movies are about the wolf, Frankenstein movies are about the monster, but Zombie stories are about the people, and the zombies are just incredibly dangerous props.
I think that Rick is starting to realize what it will take to survive, and he's willing to do that now. The biggest difference between he and Shane is that Shane enjoys it. He's a thrill killer.

I think I'm done with this show. I can't be invested in characters that are written to make frustratingly stupid decisions for the sake of plot development. That aside from the generally lazy writing. How does Dale go from thinking that Shane killed Otis, to knowing the exact circumstances of his death? Why is Lori so inconsistent in her opinions and her decisions? She continues to be one of the most contradictory and useless characters on TV. It doesn't make sense to complain to Rick about the dangerous of a recovery mission when leveraged against their orphaned child, when she immediately proceeds to do the exact same, only solo, and to the aid of some nameless girl with a laughably mysterious illness. Then there's' the ridiculousness of the crash...into the lone zombie...on a long straight road...that caused her to accelerate upon impact...and turn her car over a ridge.

I stopped watching after the season premier of this second season. What a let down... especially following Breaking Bad. Walking Dead is an embarrassment. The pilot was so good too.

I just saw this ep and I was facepalming the whole time. Though I'm glad they killed off one kid, they really need to murder the other one. I still think the Asian is a useless bucket of shit as he did nothing in the bar and pretty much does nothing ever, except act awkward around his little girlfriend; he needs to die too.
I really hope Lori dies due to exactly what was quoted above. My god, it's like all the women on the show are just oozing with stupidity. There's a friggin apocalypse with no one around and the bitch still can't drive. Really? Really?? Fuck the blonde chick. Fuck the short haired chick. Fuck the background character who suddenly got ill for no reason and know one cares about. If the whole cast died off next ep, I wouldn't even care. Even Daryl can't save the group.
That being said, i'll still be a dumbass and watch, mostly because I want to see the characters I hate to die horrible deaths. The show better not deprive me of that.

Perhaps all the good writers in Hollywood are working on Breaking Bad?
Every time the crew ventures out of the farm and into the surrounding woods, they encounter a zombie. Now, as we were shown earlier in the series, the zombies are attracted by light and noise. The farm should be fighting off zombie attacks right and left. As they're all sitting there every night with lights burning all over the place, do they even have someone on guard duty? Or at any time?

Then it turned into "Days of our Lives" in the latter half with more emphasis on the background character no one cares about. I like how it took a minimum of 6 hours for that zombie to walk up to the turned over car that was roughly about 100 yards max away.
Umm, the episode before that last one ended with her having the wreck with the sun shining. Sunday's episode had the zombie coming to the car at night "minimum of 6 hours". How hard is that? The car flew about 100 yards from the zombie because she was going at a pretty high rate of speed. The walking zombie, mind you....

2nd half of season two is definitely better than the first half.
All of the females are still annoying as hell though. Hopefully that gets fixed with a culling of the survivors.

He was eventually going to be one because of the damage taken during the Otis episode. He was scratched, That's why he shaved his head. They took the trouble to point out the two dead zombie deputies last episode where they were going to drop the kid off, and that they hadn't been bitten. Rick even said that they were probably scratched.
If time had taken it's course, he likely would have taken ill, died, and become a zombie at that point. Rick just sped up the process.

The camera angles, especially on Shane at the end are excellent. The overall production of the show has improved and there's not as much meaningless dialogue/filler. It's looking like it's going to be Night of the Living Dead farm style next episode.

Yeah. It appears to be that if you die through natural causes you'll eventually turn into a walker. Who knows. The whole scene with Shane and the hostage in the woods was a tease. Everything happening out of the shot. And the vision he had at the end after rick shanked him didn't help. We'll see where that's taken. I knew something was up after the Otis incident. He looked like there had been a change in him. I'm hoping its not some dumb mutation of the virus. As long as Maggie isn't killed :)

I'm thinking what they're going to do to tease everyone during the hiatus is at the end of the season 2 finale, they're going to introduce 1 of 2 new characters to the show. Readers of the comics have been asking about when both of these people were going to arrive and it looks like it's finally going to happen. For those of you who don't read the books-I think you'll really like the new additions.

While I do not believe they will do a cure for someone who has already turned. I believe the show will create someone who is immune to the virus, kind of like in 28 Weeks Later. The immune character will help develope an anti-virus for those bitten but not yet turned, just like in Resident Evil.

I agree... this plot device of waking up a zombie no matter how you die is a creation of the shows writers. Nothing like this exists in the books. And unless they seriously deviate from the books (which they already have), Carl is here for the duration.

Shane was an interesting, dark character. A man of action, and a guy not adept at making speeches. The show needs more like him.
It was a wimpy, predictable plot move to bump him off the show.
The show has improved since the break, but they're still missing a lot of opportunities for more chills and thrills imo. Enough with the speeches and inter-personal tensions, let's see some terror FFS!
The show seems to equate gore with thrills. Meaning, if they show one or two caved in zombie skulls a show, this somehow satisfies the horror quotient.
The ZA should be as terrifying as a battlefield. There should be some "Saving Private Ryan" type moments of horrible loss and violent, dreadful action.

In the graphic novels she has they're arms and faces chopped. They are her husband and friend if I remember correctly. Looked like they had no arms in the scene from the show.

On Talking Dead, the host theorized that she realized that her goading Rick earlier and then making up to Shane last week put ideas in both of their heads and directly led to the showdown.
I like the aftershow, but since Comic Book Men came on, it's no longer right after the first WD showing, so I often miss it. They actually showed a pic of the actress that will play Michonne. They had the actress that plays Andrea on and two of the Executive Producers.

I don't really understand the point of comparing two shows as different as "The Walking Dead" and "Mad Men." Both are well made and engaging, in my opinion, but share almost nothing in common other than episode length and network.
From a purely technical point of view, I'd probably have to give "Mad Men" a slight edge in terms of writing and acting, but that doesn't amount to much. I like/enjoy the shows equally. Folks just get too wrapped up in ranking things.

I've only ever seen her in a small recurring role on "Treme" (that I know of), but she seems like a good actress. I'm excited to see what they do with the character next season, since there are a lot of moments/arcs from the comic books that I assume can't happen.

I dug the episode even though they really didn't explain why all those walkers started migrating all of the sudden. Where did that helicopter come from and where did it go????? Seems like it got their attention and they started following it. Oh well, I can't wait until the next season.

I'm pretty sure the helicopter was in the first episode that's when they started following it. I think they also said the zombies will follow each other so they just sort of picked up followers along the way and eventually they made it to the farm after all this time.

Carl and Lori. Yes, those two really need to hurry up and die. Every other character is tolerable except those two; I don't care if they're Rick's family, he'll get over it. In fact, I don't think Rick even likes those two shitheads anymore; ever since Lori is knocked up with Shane's zombie baby and Carl is turning into Damien.....

IMO, I can completely ignore the existence of Carol. If she died next episode I might not even notice. Lori is thrown into your face because she's Rick wife, and she's just a terrible character in every aspect.
I can kind of give Carl a pass because a kid living in the middle of Zombie Apocalypse must be a little fucked up. But he's still a little jackass.

To salvage next season, the show needs new writers and/or the following characters to die: Carol, Lori, Carl, Andrea, and possibly T-Dog. If they decide to keep the same cast, they'll need to do a good job of convincing the audience that these people aren't fucking retarded. All it took was Ricks absence for them to run around like headless chickens, playing rodeo with the cars, wasting ammo and gas. There is an exception; Lori is the most egregious piece of shit on television and can't be salvaged. To recap, she slept with a man mere days after she thought her husband was dead (note: not sympathetic sex, but raw dogging from behind on the ground sex). She, on multiple occasions, fails to look after her kid. She created a rift with Shane for mistakenly believing her husband to be dead, then apologized to the man when tried to rape her. She tells Shane to stay away from her kid and then gets angry when he does. She crashes a car on a lone road, endangering herself and others. She thinks women should be in the kitchen doing womanly duties. She wonders out loud if her son would be better off dead. She assumes everyone should listen to her because of who her husband is. She pits Rick and his best friend against each other, and finally, gets angry with him for killing a man who tried to rape her and would have killed him had he not acted in self defense.

FYI - Lori isn't mad about Rick killing Shane. She's upset that Carl shot him when he was in Zombie mode. As Rick is telling her everything she's not really showing an upset reaction, but when he says "Carl put him down" after telling her that he turned she pretty much freaks out.
She's not a great character but its mostly just because the actress that plays her is fairly terrible. Go back and rewatch that scene and you'll see what I'm talking about, but you'll also see some fairly terrible fucking acting from her.

I think there is a big difference between being a likable character and being a good character. I can't stand Lori, and would definitely want to smack her in person, but I think she's an interesting character. Especially compared to how much of a whiny nothing she is in the comics.
I also don't think Carl is a horrible character. And think he's far more interesting on the show than in the books.
Both actors suck, though. 'Specially the kid.

Pretty good finale all in all though. I enjoyed it. If only every episode was that interesting.

If they followed the comic book, Shane would've died in the first season.

Be interesting to see how this plays out if Michonne and Andrea end up in Woodbury while the other group is clearing out the prison. In the comics, the whole Governor arc is dependent upon there being one group that goes back and forth between the two locations.

I had an argument with someone the other day that was mad because the show doesn't follow the book well enough.
My argument was that the creator of the book is the same person that is creating the show and therefore, the show is just as original as the book. It doesn't matter if it doesn't follow it to the letter because it is a unique, stand alone show that is just based on his very own concept.
Also, I'm so fucking excited for season 3. This is the most entertaining drama I've ever gotten into on television.
