One of the only reasons I follow the NBA is because my favorite athlete of all time plays in it. Other than that, I don't really care for it THAT much. Why is this so shocking to some of you?

I simply think the NBA could be a much better league, not near its potential, but I understand its commercial limitations. IMO, perhaps 5-game series in the playoffs would be better, or some other system than the current. There's a reason a lot of people lose interest in the NBA playoffs relatively quickly, especially if their team didn't make it or if they got knocked out in the first or second round. It's too damn long, and so is the regular season.

50-ish games would be a lot better in my opinion, any given game would matter a lot more than they do with the status quo, there'd be a higher intensity level in general. No games off due to disinterest, less minute-managing. You guys like this system where the goal for many of our teams is simply to survive, to last the regular season without injuries?

A 7 game series is good in the sense that the better team wins 99% of the time, but the playoffs usually have 4 teams that are real contenders and 12 teams that just made the playoffs by default. Maybe I'm exaggerating, I don't think the league sucks, I just don't like how long and unimportant the regular season is. Think about it, the regular season spans from october/november - mid april, and none of that matters, really. The good teams that are contenders obviously don't need to worry, they know they'll make the playoffs. Any given game isn't important when there's 80-fucking 2 of them and all of the teams have to manage their stars' minutes hardcore. Length of the season just makes every player that much more injury prone, not only more games allowing for injury, but also due to wear and tear.

It even usually takes 20-28 ish games just to win a championship in the playoffs (after those 80fucking2).

As I've said, he's my favorite athlete, it's a Spurs forum. I registered when I had much more interest, haven't bothered to change it really, it's iconic since it's been that for years.



Maybe I'm exaggerating, I don't think the league sucks, I just don't like how long and unimportant the regular season is. Think about it, the regular season spans from october/november - mid april, and none of that matters, really. The good teams that are contenders obviously don't need to worry, they know they'll make the playoffs. Any given game isn't important when there's 80-fucking 2 of them and all of the teams have to manage their stars' minutes hardcore. Length of the season just makes every player that much more injury prone, not only more games allowing for injury, but also due to wear and tear.

It even usually takes 20-28 ish games just to win a championship in the playoffs (after those 80fucking2).

I love being able to see my team play 3-4 times a week, even when they play like a bunch of retarded highschoolers like in Portland the other night. And tell how meaningless the regular season was when being lazy in the season cost Boston homecourt in game 7 and therefore the title last year.
