Texas Chili Dog

Ogando :bang

you really have to be having a bad night to allow the Mariners to score 6 runs in less than 3 innings. Our offense keeps tying it, but Ogando just kept giving Seattle the lead back.

Getting old, I guess. I dunno...2 runs..blown save. Fucker...Yankees just fucking us again. With Feliz out there, I think Ron is expecting a walkoff win in the 9th.

lots of come from behind victories.

much easier to do now that they have an elite bullpen.

earlier in the season, if their starters had outings the way Ogando and Holland have, no chance in hell the Rangers come back, because the bullpen would give up just as many runs.

i just cant wait to see how sick the offense and defense will be once Beltre gets back...

Well..I'm outside of SA, but they have a channel on TWC called Stuff that has been playing all Rangers games..thought I found heaven..but I guess this one didn't sell out or something, so it was blacked out...when I went to the channel, it said "Not available right now..try again later." One call I disagree with was having Moreland lay down a sac bunt with Chavez on 1st and no outs. I just don't think you can afford to give up an out like that. It would be completely different if it was sacrificing a runner from 2nd to 3rd with no outs. Then you clearly do it. And it also would be different if it were earlier than the 9th inning. But I think Moreland should have been given a chance to hit.

Agreed. I was pissed when I saw that. Happy he got to 2nd and all, but it was a wasted out. Somehow, by that time, the game was on where I could see it on TV. Really strange that they didn't let me see the whole game.

If you ask me what I would rather have when down by 1 run:

A) runner on 1st and no outs
B) runner on 2nd and one out

I will choose option B if it's the 8th inning or earlier. I will choose A if it's the 9th inning or extras. For all I know, Moreland might have hit into a DP. But I take the risk. Why not just have Chavez attempt to steal 2nd, THEN sacrifice him to 3rd?

Had high hopes for FRod when he joined the Angels.
His 18-4 and 12-2 hold/blown save ratio with '06 and '07 Tigers was very good.
Maybe he is another steroid casualty.
2/1 hold/blown ratio with Angels ain't cuttin it.
We're used to winning series vs Skankee.

I had to take a nap between getting home from work and the first pitch, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to make it through this game. I already hate west coast games, but 9pm starts on a Friday is a double whammy. By the end of the week, I wanna sleep for about a day and a half.

Most likely we're gonna start tomorrow's game up 1.5 like we did tonight. Weaver comes back from his suspension and the Angels play at noon. And Weaver is even better during the day than at night. About as close to an automatic win as you can probably get.

I think Weaver's ejection vs Verlander is what lost him his. Verlander is due for a shitty performance too. If their numbers remain this similar for the rest of the season people will remember their head to head matchup and Weaver's meltdown.

Just a little comparison to what the Rangers were doing at this time last season. Through 120 games:

2010: 67-53 (39-23 home; 28-30 away)
2011: 68-52 (39-23 home; 29-29 away)

So we are almost exactly on last year's pace. Our run differential is better now than at this point last season too.

2010: 591 scored, 506 allowed (+85)
2011: 615 scored, 502 allowed (+113)

More runs scored, and fewer given up. The only big difference is the smaller division lead, obviously. The Angels are four games better than at this point last year, when we had a 7 game lead.

I'd definitely say the Rangers are a better team all around than they were last year. About the only thing lacking is Cliff Lee, but instead they have two very good pitchers in Ogando and Harrison, as opposed to a shutdown guy in Lee, and an inconsistent bum in Hunter. CJ and Colby both have another year under their belt as well as playoff experience. Plus the bullpen is 100000000x better.

Offense is improved as well, Young is having a career year, Kinsler is actually showing some patience at the plate, and Torrealba/Napoli > Molina/Guerrero. Oh, and of course, Beltre is going to be a great addition for the playoff run as well, in both his defense, and his ability to come through with clutch hits. Dude was an RBI machine prior to getting hurt.

If they stay healthy, they should be able to make another strong run through the postseason. Honestly, no teams in the AL scares me. About the only team in the league I wouldn't feel comfortable against is Philly, but that's probably everyone who feels that way.

But all that's going to do is make us more prepared for a tougher run in the playoffs. I really think we have a chance to get back to the WS again.

Kinsler pisses me off sometimes. He is the anti-Hamilton when it comes to hustle. Case in point: Kinsler hits a high fly ball with runners on 1st and 2nd and two outs. It should be an easy play for the right fielder, but he drops it and the runners score. Obviously, with two outs, the runners are running all the way. With less than two outs, they don't score and the bases are loaded. But what does Kinsler do? He puts his head down and jogs down the line waiting for it to be caught. Kinsler should have gotten to 2nd base EASILY since it was dropped. You never assume a ball will be caught. Kinsler annoys me how he jogs so nonchalantly. If you put the ball in play with two outs, you should be running at full speed until the out is made. No excuses. I wish Washington would bench him for the remainder of the game for that.

Texas Chili Dog
08-14-2011, 05:01 PM
oh, and now there's a routine inning-ending grounder that goes between Kinsler's legs to allow two un-earned runs to score. WTG Kinsler.

no..it's not a bigtime recording studio or anything...just something small I put together in an extra bedroom. The sound is really good though. I've had two guys get indie record deals from the recordings they did in my studio. I'm good with effects and whatnot. Problem is, my studio is not as good on instruments as it is on vocals, so if someone other than a hip hop artist is going to record here, I urge them against it. I'm still working on some things to make instruments record better, but as of now, I'm a lot better on vocals than anything else.

I'm still working on some things to make instruments record better, but as of now, I'm a lot better on vocals than anything else.

wtf is going on with LA? All year i hear about their vaunted pitching staff but the last two days these guys have shown up instead

care to elaborate fabbs?
I thought their pitching staff would be good, i never thought or heard it would be "vaunted". Except for Weaver.
Weaver has been vaunted. I've already posted his era in starts including two 9 inning shutouts which he did not win. :rollin Weaver has matched Verlander for quality starts and V has the better offensive backing.
Haren has been solid. Santana, meh altho in this second half he has been good.

It's the suck ass Angels batters and "needs to go" Soscia and his small balls strategy that suck. Owner Artie Moreno has long since abandonded his "I'll spend what it takes" to get a World Series win to Anaheim. Guess he figures he got one so that's enough. Vlad Guerero screwed him. Kendry Morales fluke injury truly was a setback after Texaria sold out to the Skunkies.

boy a sweep would be nice

it would be nicer if the Rangers could gain some ground on the Red Sox with their upcoming couple of series and maybe overtake them in the standings to get home field advantage against them in the ALDS

im starting to wonder more and more every day, that when Beltre gets back, who is going to get axed the most, Napoli or Torrealba? IMO, Napoli should be the primary starter, but lets see what Wash does...

We won't be playing the Red Sox in the ALDS, because I don't expect the Yankees to beat them out in the East.

But anyway, the Rangers will host the ALDS vs either the Red Sox or Yankees as long as the Rangers stay ahead of the Central winner. Rangers will play whichever team doesn't win the East.

For hosting the ALDS, we just need to make sure we finish ahead of the Tigers/Indians/White Sox. ALCS is a different story.

I forgot that record doesnt matter when you are the wild card.

Neither of those teams scare me very much though... all three teams pretty much have the same level of offense, but IMO the Rangers have less flaws overall as a team, and have a more complete pitching staff as well.

Not only at the plate, but did you see how Mathis mishandled Naps to blow the shutout? Naps obviously not even trying to put the offspeed balls in play but just fouling off pitches of an obviously overworked (again) Weaver. I said after the last foulball do not, DO NOT come in with a fastball, that's what Napoli is sitting on. Baseball 101.
Fastball up in the zone middle of plate. Gone.
Frankly Weaver was gassed to start the inning.
Excellent piece of hitting/taking the obvious by Napoli.

Moreno won't talk to Borasshole directly, not that i blame him. So any Weaver extension will have to come thru Reagins. I hope Weaver plays out 2012 and goes elsewhere -barring Scosia leaving.

But they do face Lackey and Wakefield. Two absolute jokes who the Rangers hammer every time. Then all the Rangers need to do is split the Bedard/Beckett starts. I think we'll take the first two, lose the third, and win the finale.

I'm very curious as to how the Rangers are going to handle the lineup when Beltre gets back...

Of course Kinsler, Andrus, Josh, Beltre, Young, and Cruz are absolute locks. But how do they handle the next three? Napoli, Moreland, Chavez, and Torrealba have all been valuable contributors and deserving of spots.

I assume it will depend on the pitcher. If its a righty, I'd start Moreland, Chavez and Napoli, with Napoli at catcher. If its a lefty, start Moreland, Napoli, and Torrealba, with Napoli at 1st and Moreland in the outfield. But then the question is, can Moreland handle outfield well enough for the playoffs?

Not to mention, Holland has way more upside than Colby.

Initially, I would have been happy if Colby gets his shit together come playoff time, but considering how the Angels are constantly nipping at the Rangers heels, he needs to get it together NOW, otherwise he could fuck up the entire season. My god the Rangers are pathetic. The Angles suck ass too and Texas is better but they are mentally weak. They had a 7 game lead a week ago and it will be down to 2 tonight. What a failure of a season if Texas doesn't win that division.

:lol Texas will be just fine until playoff time. They'll go up and down, but in the end they're just flat out better than the Angels. Texas will win the West, guaranteed.

Then get their asses swept by whoever they play next.

:wow Wow..I knew we got our asses beat tonight, but I didn't know that our loss and the Angels win would help them gain a game and a half on us. Man..that does suck...

looks like MultiScioscia has decided to go with Santana/Weaver in an attempt to sweep the series. MultiRon might've just got caught with his pants down

But then again, they started Wakefield tonight. :lol He was originally scheduled to start the finale of our series, but they pushed him back a day.

It will be interesting to see how Santana and Weaver pitch on short rest. I think it's too soon for Scioscia to be doing that. But I can understand it since y'all play the Mariners afterwards.

tbh I think getting just one win in this series is a victory for the Angels. While the Rangers play the Rays, Red Sox, and Rays next...the Angels play the Mariners, Twins, and Mariners again. So I think the Rangers need a sweep more than the Angels need 2 of 3.

Top 1st inning one out Bourjos on 2B:
T Hunter struck out swinging. P Bourjos caught stealing third, catcher to third. Bam, inning over.

Not inferring Angels win, just asking was this MultiScosia ordering his retarded small balls offensive strategy to run the Angels out of another inning? Or Bourjos acting on his own?

6-2 Angels in 5th and looking to blow the game open with men on 1st and 2nd and an infield single by rookie Trout. Bases loaded, two outs. Chance to blow the game open if Lewis can't get the final out.

No worries Rangers, Scosia tries another overaggressive (read: stupid) forced run. Wells gunned down at plate. Rangers knock an HR in bottom of 5th, right back in game 6-4.

You better hope the humidity gets to Weaver because at present the Angels are overcoming not only the Rangers but a great Rangers ally in Sciosa. Already tried to run the Angels out of the 3rd inning, scored anyways.

I don't hope shit, brah...I don't have a horse in this race other than passing interest. He's already walked a bunch of batters and a lot of the outs have come off solidly hit balls. He's only pitching on 3 days rest in 100 degree heat and it's showing
