Lol, CBF's worst nightmare, a Longhorn on the Mavs.
Edit: n/m
Nah I'm ambivalent. I respect Jordan for staying an extra year, and wish him all the best. I thought he'd go 2-5 spots higher than he did in this weak draft.
I am, however, LOLing at that little bitch Corey Joseph for thinking he was something and leaving early.
Unfortunately it looks like a pretty good pic for the Mavericks though.

NBA Comparison: AJ Price
Strengths: Young lead guard with upside ... Has ideal size for a point guard in the NBA, standing 6'3.25" in shoes with a 6'5.5" wingspan ... Well-rounded athlete ... Good speed with the ball in his hands ... Solid strength with the frame to potentially add a little more muscle ... Aggressive in transition, displaying good instincts and finishing ability ... Great perimeter shooting ability ... A very natural spot-up shooter from mid to long range ... Shot a very respectable 41.3% from behind the arc this season ... Adequate passing ability and he doesn't turn the ball over a lot (averaged over 2 assists per turnover) ... Keeps his teammates involved ... Not a selfish player by any stretch ... Only recently turned 20 years old and has a lot of room to improve ... A very solid defender with strong potential. Rick Barnes called him the best defensive guard he's had ... Very solid person, impressive character ...
Weaknesses: Very green as a prospect and leaving college so prematurely as a PG could severely inhibit his long term development ... Is currently more of a shooter than a scorer ... Very raw as a floor general and some question if he's more of a combo than true PG ... Shared ball-handling responsibilities at Texas, and never had the chance to really show off his creativity with the ball ... Not used to creating offense for himself off the dribble ... Doesn't look comfortable around the rim ... Great shooting numbers from outside, but shot only 42.8% from inside the arc which points to his mediocre slashing/cutting skills ... Playmaking ability has potential, but he has a lot to learn before he can be considered a quality full-time point guard ...
Overall: Ideally Joseph would have stayed another few years at Texas where he could have continued to see a lot of playing time and improve his all-around game ... Instead he chose to take advantage of the weak draft class and declare as a freshman with the hopes of being drafted now instead of competing with incoming point guard Myck Kabongo next season ... Could be an interesting second round pick if a team falls in love with his potential and is willing to invest in and wait for him ...

Corey Joseph can shoot the 3 from NBA range

The Pacers selected Leonard for the San Antonio Spurs, a source says. In return, the Pacers will get guard George Hill, a local product. For the Spurs, this is a great pick. I had Leonard ranked at No. 7 on my board, after watching him and hearing from people around the league. He is versatile, has a great motor, is a good defender and is an emerging offensive player.
The Spurs surprised us a bit with the Joseph pick. He's more of a scorer and not a great athlete, but he sort of reminds me of George Hill. Joseph is now Hill's heir apparent after the team shipped Hill to the Pacers for the 15th pick.

I have no real beef with the Cory pick. You don't expect anything massive from the 29th pick and the Spurs addressed a need they created.
I don't even have a problem w the 15th pick as he could be fine, it's just giving up Hill for that with RJ on the roster still and knowing they will need a lot more to actually contend. As of right now they are in the dreaded "stuck in the middle" phase.
We will see how this all shakes out.

Okay, here's my hope for how this all pans out:
1.Cleveland really does want Joseph. They get him, and take RJ's contract. Spurs not worried about backup PG, because DeColo is coming over this year.
2. Spurs already know that Lorbek is ready to come to NBA.
3. Bertans is still on the board at 42, and turns out to be the gem of the second round.
4. Splitter benefits greatly from training camp, and is ready to be the player we all hoped for.
5. Neal benefits from the minutes that Hill used to get, and exceeds expectations yet again.

Both Leonard and Joseph are 19 years old. Spurs went with very young prospects. When you add that Spurs have lost a good player in Hill, they will be worst at the end of the draft that they were at the start of it.
Spurs are taking a step back and have maybe accepted to be a mediocre team for the end of the Duncan's era.

ESPN Insider
1(31) Miami (Rights traded to Minnesota) Bojan Bogdanovic 6-7 200 SF Bosnia
The Heat sent this to the Wolves for the 28th pick, and then the Wolves sold it to the Nets. Bogdanovic was the second-leading scorer in the Euroleague this year, so he can play. But his contract will keep him from coming to the NBA for at least the next two years.
2(32) Cleveland Justin Harper 6-9 228 PF Richmond
Love this pick for the Cavs. Harper is the opposite of Tristan Thompson. He can really stretch the floor. Good value here.
3(33) Detroit (from Toronto) Kyle Singler 6-9 228 SF Duke
The Pistons went for toughness at No. 33. Singler has struggled with his shot and lacks a clear position, but he's one of the toughest guys out there. One scout said he could be an Andres Nocioni type of player in the future.
4(34) Washington Shelvin Mack 6-3 209 PG Butler
I like Shelvin Mack. He's tough, he can shoot a bit and he can play the 1 and the 2. Nice player coming off the bench.
5(35) Sacramento Tyler Honeycutt 6-8 186 SF UCLA
The Kings were looking for a small forward and get a steal with Honeycutt. Had he stayed in school for another year, he could have been a solid first-round pick. Very good value here. He has a very high basketball IQ and can really pass it. Plus, UCLA players always seem to do better in the NBA. I like this pick for the Kings.
6(36) New Jersey Jordan Williams 6-9 247 C Maryland
Williams is tough and an excellent rebounder, but he's undersized for his position. Still, the Nets needed help here.

Small buyout for Lorbek this year, but he's a second rounder so no cap on contract, we could make that work.
His contract ends next year. Just boils down to how bad he wants to be here this year. I'm guessing the Spurs have already talked to him and know his feelings on the matter.

Spurs are taking a step back and have maybe accepted to be a mediocre team for the end of the Duncan's era.
Not necessarily.
An Anderson/Leonard wing combo will end up being a more talented defensive wing combo than Neal/Hill was last year. Which was a huge weak spot on the team and has been the past few years (Mason,Finley, Udoka ect.). Hill was better than Finley, Mason, Udoka but that's not saying much and at the same time his size hurt him a lot in money time on the defensive end.
This view on the move is certainly realistic, especially from a defensive perspective. And if you're worried about shooting, Anderson is a very good shooter and Spurs still have Neal in their arsenal as well. Those two can easily replace Hill's offensive production. Therefore, I don't see how this sets back the team into mediocrity. Now if they traded Parker for that crap pile of shit trade to the Kings then I'd agree with you.
This move could improve the Spurs in many areas. Only time will tell.

This is true. I do see it as rebuilding though. Theres nothing to say that a mid-season dramatic trade involving Parker is out of the question, or that Duncan is coming back after next season (which means we will suck and get a high draft pick after that season).
These two picks from tonight will be hitting their stride. Who knows?
